The "I don't want to talk about AI" thread, and the new topic is: let's drink!

Hopefully it's just a little beaten up. Not sure what exact height we're talking about here, but I think it'd be exceedingly unlucky for something that weighs only four pounds to cause serious damage to a shod toe when dropped from a table.

You should totally pretend it's broken, though, and walk in an exaggeratedly limping manner. This way, whenever someone asks you what happened, you'll be able to watch their confused expression as you tell them you stubbed your toe on a soup :)
It was about a six foot drop and I'm not sure if it was the corner or the short edge, but it caught my middle toe and only my middle toe, lol. It just looks bruised.

I've talked my husband down from forcing me to go to urgent care.

If it is broken, I know how to set it and wrap it myself. *Shrug,* But I'm pretty sure it's just gonna be a deep bruise for a few days.

Once I pinched my index finger when putting away a 50lbs dumbbell. It was livid for about a week afterwards (the finger; I imagine the dumbbell was largely indifferent) and painful for a total of day or two. Ibuprofen was enough to deal with it, and it went back to normal within maybe ten days overall.

Your injury sounds similar. I’d worry if the pain doesn’t go away after a few days, or you see other signs that the toe might be broken.

Oh, it only hurts if I touch it.

So naturally I keep touching it.

That thing that this thread is scrupulously not about burst a seam again recently, it seems. Makes me wonder if 'suspicious' submissions are being done in a batch like people say the Illustrated stories used to be. Faster times for most everyone else, followed by an eruption of complaints. Feels kind of like the charge of the Light Brigade in here.

Since the new topic is food accidents. Last year during a Fourth of July barbecue, I got barbecue sauce on the back of my dress. No one bumped into me and there's no way I could have put the sauce there by myself. I think it was a ghost, perhaps John Hancock - I've always admired beautiful cursive writing.

The wife and I had a happy food accident last summer. We were on holiday in Italy, and were heading out for dinner. We'd spotted a restaurant that looked interesting, with a good menu. But when we got there it was absolutely full and we were turned away.

Disappointed, we walked into the next place we found. Which just happened to be the best place in town, with an amazing 7-course tasting menu - and it was cheaper than the other place too.

Help us, "I don't want to talk about AI" thread, you're our only hope!

ETA: Any suggestions for a new topic? Anyone? Plans for the summer holidays, perhaps?

Beyond my usual "I really ought to lose some weight this year", I think my only resolution is to allow myself more leisure time. See whether maybe I can relax the muscles in my shoulders that have been clenched since 2018.

I didn’t make any specific resolutions, more of a subconscious “oh c’mon now do try to do better this year hmm? Haven’t many more left you know, quit faffing about” that plays in my head on repeat

Not resolutions as such, but as the end of the year approached, I added more and more things to my list of things I should do as soon as possible in 2026 (household tasks, medical checks, make more lists, etc.). I intend to start doing them as soon as we get to January.

Oh, wait...
