Gaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

I hate people.

Why is it so hard to respond to an email within 24 hours!?!?!?!?!?!
Because some people are very busy. ;)

I've just sent an email to A.'s mom. Took me two weeks to get some free time to respond to her.:eek:

Yesterday was... happy, horny, then torture, then happy, then sad, then more torture, then really, really, really happy. Also relief.

Ta-da!

My day tuesday included 11 hours of interviews.

You win. Make your smoothie a large.

Were these part of the "billions and billions of people hired" thing?

What I hate is meetings that take three hours, but could be handled easily in 45 minutes. With banter. Because someone likes to hear herself spout off about every nuance of every paper clip and how it relates to the larger vision. Or whatever.

Actually, tater tots are a form of deep-fried potato product. They just have all the appeal of deep-fried dog food.

I deep fried Iams Lamb and Rice large breed nuggets for dinner. Wait. I need to put that on the cooking thread.

More for me! :)

Wait. Say "vile" again. Oh. Yeah.

Shall I say something else with my english accent? ;)

Say "Bloody hell! Some wanker nicked my torch!" :D

50k nation wide, which averages out to 4 a store.

We really didn't have it that bad, we had 32 people show up.

One of the stores in our co-op had 150 show up by 10am, and the O/O down the street had simular.

Still interviewing for 11 hours was mind numbing.

*hugs*

Me too chick. I'm going to get me one

I wouldn't begin to know how to go about that if I fancied such a thing.

Those interviews took way too long on average. You have to figure that 60% or more shouldn't get past the application. That leaves 13 potential hirees. 15-20 minutes per potential employee should be sufficient for any entry level job.

BTDT, only with jobs in an airport parking system - cashiers and laborers (sweeping out the trash in the airport garage, running tag checks on cars in long-term parking, etc.). It should be a two-step, two-day process.

  • Day one, applications filled out. Applications reviewed as they come in, set in two piles: File 13 or re-call for personal interview.
  • Day two, personal interviews, approximately one-fourth to one-third of applications received. Each interview should go no more than 15 minutes for entry level positions.
Unless, of course, the McExecs determined that you had to do personal interviews with everyone who came in. That would be stupid, but I've seen execs of all varieties do stupider things. If they did determine that, though, one way to handle it would be to have someone else review the applications as soon as they were handed in, and make a little notation - perhaps some variation of their initials - indicating whether they actually were potential employees or not.

For example, if your reviewer's name were John David Doe, he could put "JDD" on the apps of people with actual potential to be hired, and "JD" on those apps that should have gone directly into the circular filing cabinet. With the former, you would have actual personal interviews. With the latter, you could make a show of scanning through their application and then look up and say, "Thank you SO much for coming in, but I'm sorry; you don't meet the criteria we're looking for." 30-45 seconds each.

There IS such a thing as being *too* conscientious, you know...

I feel nervous

Uncle J and I spend lots of time talking and i really am liking him lots. What if I start to like him too much and i shouldn't. Daddy doesnt believe in too much, he just thimks that you can't make your feelings feel only what you want them to. Why do I suddenly feel like this is going to end badly?

*hugs* maybe its just new-situation chemistry?

Will you come over and organize my pantry? I have no coherent system. None. Dammit. :D

Perhaps if you're very nice to me I'll see if I can find a mic and record it for you

Can you think up random fake British expressions and try to get me to buy 'em? :D

0.o

Blegh!

No, no! They don't leave a nasty aftertaste like Science Diet!

Not much.

A little.

'Bugger, I reckon the postie pinched my knickers!' ?
I seriously can't think of any expressions that are 'British'. It's just the words we use. I'd usually use pinched/nicked for stolen, but you do hear taxed, half-inched or nabbed sometimes.

That tickety-boo antwacky madhead got kicked in the goolies when you was out looking for totty! Throw a spanner in the works!

:D:D

That was fun.
Thanks, British slang interwebs site.

Here we sodding go again. I might actually just turn this damn thing off and be on my own all night

We had to actually talk to each candidate as they were told we were holding open interviews.

But actually, we did have a system down simular to what you mentioned. Unfortunately, I was the reviewer.

I looked over the app when they signed in, and if they looked promising, the GM interviewed them, if they didn't I got to. My interviews averaged 2-3 mins each.

So there were some breaks in there, but for the most part it was 11 hours of interviewing. The whole thing was rediculous, but they were trying to get some good PR out there.

Why do I have to be so clumsy? Today I managed to outdo myself in the clumsiness stakes and faceplant while walking up concrete steps when carrying a huge armload of firewood. Oh well at least I get to see what sort of weird shapes and colours the bruises are coming out in, that should keep me entertained for a bit.

Note to self though, no laughing, ribs hurt to much for that and I am going to have to learn to apply make up to hide some of the bruises.

I wonder what I could tell people I managed to do....saved a puppy from a burning building maybe? Sounds much better than a faceplant.

I am genuinely sorry that you fell hon, I'm trying to read how it happened but your av is very distracting ;)
