My grandmother passed away last night. I've been running around like a chicken with its head cut off ever since then. I'm dead on my feet; this has been my first chance to sit down and check in with all my friends (real-life and here). The funeral home thing was tonight, and the funeral itself will be tomorrow.

I wasn't close to my grandmother, but it's been rough nonetheless. I feel bad for my mother, mostly, and I've been trying to help as much as I can. It's kinda exhausting, though.

To top it all off, my mother's having surgery to have some skin cancers removed from her legs on Thursday, so I'll be here most of the week. If it's not one thing, it's 14 others. One of which may be me ending up in the nuthouse if things don't slack up a bit.
Oh, come on, Bunny... you know good and well there's not a nuthouse in the South that would *take* you.....

bless your hearrrrrrt!

The SoCal woman's sash wearer wants me to run for the title this year. I am barely gotten my feet wet in the community.

I am very conflicted about this. I said that I would run if I could be sure I would lose-- but I am not so sure I would lose. It isn't a very large field.

Bunny, as some one who's been living this (nearly exactly) all I can say is have faith that it will pass. And don't be afraid to just let it out when you need to. That tends to be my problem. I want to suck it up and push through until it's all over, and sometimes that leads to a massive break down before the end is close. And just when I start to see the end of the tunnel, that fucker with the glowstick runs faster.

If you need to talk, I'll be around.

I'm sorry, Bunny. Please take care.

No. Nuthouses may well have limited internet access. That won't do at all.

I hope you'll post about how your mom's surgery goes. :rose:

I visited my old college roommate yesterday. She was a maid of honor in my wedding. We have kept in touch over the past 25ish years by email as I have moved all over the US. But we haven't physically seen much of each other.

She is dying of cancer. She just got married. We were talking about other friends from college. Everyone seems to have ended up in dysfunctional or otherwise unhappy marriages/relationships or something going on with their children.

She and I were talking how once in our freshman year we were up late talking on the beach, more then a little intoxicated, and were trying to imagine where we all would be 25 years into the future.

This isn't where we thought our friends would be. And we certainly didn't think she would be dying before growing old.

All of this has made me terribly depressed.

Surprisingly it has also made the thought of submitting, of submission itself distasteful maybe even absurd.

Not sure what the connection is.

Not sure how I will move forward.

I want my friend and my old college friends back the way we were--walking down the beach at night, arms around each other, laughing, slightly intoxicated full of grand dreams of the future.

Hope things get better. I've been struggling with similar thoughts about submission lately too.

I can't tell you what the connection is because I don't know myself, all I can say is that I know this place quite well at the moment, and for me....it really, really, sucks.

I feel too old and too trapped to even have a "dream" anymore. And that's the worst part of it...

*cries* my nose. will not. stop.

I've resorted to periodically chomping on raw ginger. It's still not very helpful :'(

Whew! Just remember the breathing thing and you will find your way one step at a time. Huge hugs & my condolences for you and your family. Don't forget to take good care of you! :rose:

My brain is too fried to respond to all of you individually like I'd like to do, but I can tell you that I appreciate all of you so much.

So sorry your friend is going through this hon and *hugs* it's no wonder it affecting you.

Like others I have recently felt the same way towards my submission. Thankfully it's all coming together again and I feel much more settled and at one with it again.

I don't want to psycho analyse but it might just be that (to me anyway) much of submission is about surrender and acceptance. Perhaps because of the battle your friend has right now its those characteristics and associations of submission that are feeling distasteful and absurb....especially at a time when you want to fight and challenge whats happening.

Thinking of you and sending you both positive vibes. :rose:

No sexual relationship can protect us from illness and death. And sometimes the most important thing we should be doing is simply holding the hands of our friends or sitting with our grieving family.

Submission in those moments is much larger, much deeper and much more profound than any kinky sex act. And all the love and devotional energy you have been able to release in submission to your Daddy is now available to share with your friend. You can help carry her, and ease her, burden, in ways that people who have not practiced submission may not fully appreciate because they have not experienced sublimation of self, endurance of pain, and devotional service in quite the same measure.

Submission is still a key if you want to use it.
