Confirmation I live in redneckland: the morning crew on the local radio station spent the entire shift talking about Wal-Mart's decision to end Christmas layways.

Sprinkles22 said:Well ... leave it to Geico Insurance and their TV commercials to kill a lifelong fantasy of mineThe sexiest male voice I've ever heard has been the man who narrates the Motion Picture movie trailers ... geez, what a Dom voice that is.
But have you seen him? Have you seen the commercial??? *sobbing* I was expecting TALL, DARK, MYSTERIOUS AND HANDSOME.
I'm crushed, really![]()

There are no formal rules about it, but it's not usually quite that strict. If someone is queer-friendly, then it's usually acceptable to call yourself queer-friendly. Or, for the flyer, it might be showing "somebody who works here is queer and therefore we can say queer too."graceanne said:Ok, I'm confused. Today I had to take D to the clinic to have his ear's checked. (Thought he had an infection - he didn't.) They had some flyers there advertising a place that I can go get my yearly exam (which I haven't had since D was born - almost four years ago) for cheap. I was reading it to make sure there weren't any hidden fees or clauses, and saw that it's, and I quote, 'queer friendly'. Now I gotta ask. Isn't calling a homosexual 'queer' something you only do if you, yourself, are homosexual? Isn't that like calling a black person a racist name, something that you can only do if you identify with the other people like that?![]()

Oh, I wouldn't call Marquis a racial slur just based on it being Marquis and me being smarter than that!graceanne said:Oh, ok. lol You learn something new every day, I guess. *shrugs* I kinda figured it was like when Marquis calls himself racial slurs. It's ok for him to do it, but no one else can.

I'm confused...what is your reaction?graceanne said:I'd respond to this, but I'm sure you can figuer out my reaction to it.![]()
