Is the intent for someone to "remain calm?" Agreed, the ad copy says, "not for those that panic," but I'm not sure that someone applying this Total Sensory Deprivation Leather Hood to their pyl would be looking for "calm"...

OTOH,

So ... maybe the intent of the hood IS to calm one?

Maybe the intent is to calm one but it wouldn't work for me. I can't stand to have anything covering my face, I can't even pull a blanket all the way over my head without feeling like a I can't breathe. Yep, I would flip out in a hood. I'm not too proud to admit I am a wuss.

*sniffels* my Top is gonna be gone for 3 weeks.....

I am gonna be in withdrawl by next weekend :(

Someone please throw me out of Lit so I can finish what I should be doing instead please.

I've missed this place, and these people, so much. I'm glad to be back.

I was gone for a couple of days only, but I missed it too. It's so nice to have a BDSM place to just *be.*

I'm still too afraid to go to the local munch.

*reaching for my head examining tools*

*why do you suppose "What Dreams May Come" just came to mind?*

: pauses:

hmmmmm,

*reads behind left ear - "Here there be monsters"

*puts tools down*

be on about your duties today - enough time lingering.....

I soooolove it in here...

You should ask about the dress code...

our local "open" munch (for newbies) is STRICT casual... not even collars...

*wonders what is holding you back*

PM me if you want to talk :)

Lol - it's not about what to wear. From the websites I've read, the intro meet and great things are all casual.

I am still feeling ashamed of my desires, at some level. I also don't want to go to meet anyone in a romantic sort of way. It would just be nice for support, but I feel a little uncomfortable showing up. I'm also a very private person. It's so odd to show up at a meeting and, just by your presence, be admitting to people, I like this. Does that make sense?

At some level, in some ways, I think many (most?) of us at some point think we are ashamed of our desires, but perhaps that feeling is just the shame of "being different" (than the mainstream), rather than shame for the desires themselves? At least, that's the way I've chosen to think of it. I'm not ashamed of my desires, but I hate and fear public exposure of them, because they're not what would be accepted by the vast majority here in the Bible Belt.

Munches and other meet-and-greets are not for meeting someone in a romantic sort of way, though it does happen on occasion that two previously unattached people meet at a munch/whatever and find a connection. What munches/whatevers *are* for is to meet others who are in the culture and to learn to accept ourselves as we are, in all the glory of our kink, with their help and love and support. (Some of them (e.g., SMPEX) even occur in facilities that allow for demonstrations of various facets of our culture - those are awesome!)

Again, *IMO,* many (again, most?) of us are private persons. It may not seem like it here, where we are comfortable amongst our peers, but in the flesh-and-blood world, I doubt that many of us at all are *nearly* as open about our needs/wants/desires as we are here. ;) Yes, I remember my first munch (vaguely - it was well over 20 years ago!), and I chickened out twice, for the very same reason, before I finally attended one. What I finally realized was, hey... everyone *else* here is admitting *THEY* like it too! That made it easier to (on the third try) open my car door, get out, and go in.

So... Yes, it makes sense - but it doesn't. Get on out there, and embrace the support they offer. You've nothing to lose but the loneliness of feeling that you're the pink monkey. Realize that in reality, you're the one-eyed (wo)man!

Edited to apologize for de-isolating an isolated blurt, but I feel strongly about the situation described, and couldn't address it otherwise.

Ugh, why do some who shout they are Dominant, insist on acting like petulant children just because one person does not fall at their feet in adoration, nor see them the same way they see themselves?!!

LOL, not as much as someone who just came home screaming about how tired he is of being in demand in his work....seems once again a client has told his company they will only accept him and no-one else no matter what it costs them...he doesn't like the thought of commuting that long in traffic jams each day so is trying to come up with ways he can reduce the days needed. And as to the other, guess I should be flattered my opinion counts to them so much, but I'm not!!

I don't know if this belongs in the "This really pisses me off because they're wasting money and police resources" category, or the "Too Fuckin' Funny" category... votes?

I'll vote for "A- This pisses me off."

LOL, now why do people have to be self righteous when they have worse (well IMO) things for others to comment about. LOL, as some know, Ihang a lot on Flickr. So yesterday as therapy I took a series of pics of a bottle of Marquis Cognac, which have been so far greeted with positive and complimentary remarks from fellow Flickr addicts. Then this morning some twit (Australian I am sorry to say) says they object to this shot http://farm1.static.flickr.com/216/508066186_f1c4d019d0_m.jpg

as in their opinion it glorifies alcohol which they see as a bad thing. Now of course when looking at their pics (only a few pages at that...left the rest) they not only have pics of skeletons, people supposedly setting themselves on fire with sparklers (wow, that isn't going to encourage some child to try and set themselves on fire with one of the most popular fireworks available in Oz), but this lovely one (part of a series they have done and below) of Santa, hammer in hand entering a bedroom ready to kill the sleeping occupants. Sheesh, bit of a case of people in glass houses. So now I have that rant off my chest, I can go back to doing more useful things. :D
