... and see then AA went and made a comment elsewhere tonight, and I started wondering if instead of wearing 5" heels with a bit of dry rice in them, if it might be a bit more excrutiating to do paper cuts between the first and second toes, and exchange the rice/sand for a teaspoon or two of salt... imagine how horrible that would feel.

Standing in a corner, all trussed up, holding a penny against the wall with your nose, knowng someone is comfortably watching from across the room, knowing you need the discipline, and right about the time you hit the emotional wall of humiliating vulnerability, the heat from standing in tight heels starts making your feet perspire, which reacts with the (previously just gritty and annoying) salt inside the shoes, and there is this whole new additional bit of pain to deal with, and be distracted by, as the salt and perspiration mingle and ooze between those poor paper cut toes... so do you stand still and deal with it, or do you shift your weight, and hope you stay focused enough to continue holding the penny to the wall?

Last month I started looking for plain sandals I can wear this summer with shorts or overalls or boring clothes. I already had summer heels in black and brown. I needed boring flat sandals.

I came home with 5" ankle tie wedges.

A few weeks later I came home with classic Dr. Scholl's wooden sandals.

A week after that I came home with another pair of 5" heel sandals, that have a stacked wood heel, 1" platform for the footbed, a teensy thin little ankle strap, and 3D flowers for the vamp. In denim.

I've also passed up three other pairs of summer heels since then.

When I said girls I mean GIRLS. I'm looking for sandals for my girls, something they can ride bikes in, run in, and totally destroy by the time school starts next year. But it also has to be pretty enough for them to be willing to wear them. I am having the WORST time finding something that's not a flip flop and does not have a FREAKEN HEEL!

I mean, for God's sake they're freaken 8 and 5 years old - they do not need to be screwing up their feet while they're still growing. I'm all for the occasional heel on dressy occasions, but for regular play they need something safe and comfortable.

I'm not spending $45 on shoes that they will outgrow in three or four months! I wanna get ahold of one of those idiot fashion designers and SHAKE THEM.

Oh, and I'd prefer that their be no cartoon characters on them, either.
