Oh my, I am sitting here with the most gorgeous black creature sitting beside me...the new Canon EOS 400d dSLR he bought for me today. LOL, I have put the battery on charge, attached the lense and strap, and find I am just so in awe of it I am afraid to pick it up and start playing. Guess once I read some of the downloaded manual (the supplied ones were in Dutch, French, and Spanish despite the sales staff saying there was one in English ) I will feel a little braver. The anticipation is delicious.

MY grandma rocked. I just want to say that. She got a reward for all the work she's put into improving the laws concerning deaf adults. Did you know they used to take hearing children from deaf parents and my grandma was one of the front people for stopping that practice. She was either secretary or treasurer for ALDA (association of late deafened adults) and worked as a teacher for DCARA (Deaf Counseling and Referral Advocacy) in San Francisco. She also worked on getting grants and stuff for DCARA and ALDA.

More importantly when we were living in the midwest she flew out to see me and miss twice a year. When my dad decided to start seeing us again she'd fly out to get us and drive us back. I spent every summer from the time I was 8 till I was 16 with her. (My dad was living with her.)

I'm so sorry, gracie. How did she come to be involved with DCARA and ALDA? I don't know a whole lot about either agency but of course I have heard the names many times.

My sympathies to you. To lose someone so close and so important to your life is always painful; however, your beliefs will be a great comfort to you, knowing as you do that she has moved on to a place of great love and joy, and will be there - many, many years from now - when you arrive.
