And yet, the gaslighting worked…(if it didn’t, people wouldn’t bother doing it.)

A vigilante militia notorious for its patrols on America’s border with Mexico has threatened to take on the US military in recent weeks, with its founder baselessly claiming that Hurricane Helene was deliberately caused by a government energy weapon that needs to be destroyed, according to private and public Telegram chats.
Veterans on Patrol’s (VOP’s) conversations reveal that members believe the outlandish conspiracy theory that the US government caused the hurricane with weather manipulation technology, that the US military is spraying the American people with poisons, and that members should be willing to destroy government facilities in order to stop these activities.
The far right is 100% wackos.

And now the vocal trumpy parents are slamming Disney's new movie, Spellbound. It's a tale about 2 parents turning into monsters and the child having to deal with the situation... it's about divorce. It's about how 2 people living together unhappily can be an awful experience for their children but apart, they can be the happy, loving people the children recognise and who always love them no matter what.
The dumb-fuck christie critics are up in arms about the message it sends to kids that 'divorce is okay' when they think it's never acceptable to see it as 'normal'. Of course, the fact that around 50% of marriages end in divorce so countless millions of kids live in such situations so it IS their new 'normal' is ignored by them as they drive their message of 'a marriage is forever, no matter what,' and kids had just better be bloody grateful even if their parents turn into monstrosities that ruin their children's formative years. These are the vance-o-lites, the followers of republicans who want women kept at home making babies and supporting 'their man.'
So. Fucking. Stupid. So in denial of reality. And that's how trump got elected, folks.

The Catholic Church has a marriage prep class called a Pre Cana which is pretty much that.they already want to make getting divorced harder... how long before they try to make it illegal? Mind you, so long as men still want divorces that won't happen, unless they turn blinder eyes to those killing off the missus to be free of her. Or just go the old route: keep the wife at home to cook, clean and breed whilst the guy's off shagging whatever he fancies.
Instead of focusing on the 'subversion' that they consider divorce to be, how about making it a harder process to get married? Maybe not harder, exactly, but encouraging people to get to know the other person well, first... beyond 'what's your favourite colour?' They should be discussing how they view child-rearing, education, LGBTQ+ as it may apply to their kids, discipline, political views, food tastes, travel, phobias/loves/likes/and more... hell, even down to whether or not they're more morning or evening people and what kind of weather they enjoy best. The better you get to know a person, the better you are able to make informed choices beyond 'he/she/they are fuckable' that might serve to make a marriage last better.
ha, not sure a 'marriage prep class' is quite the ideal setting but it certainly is better than nothing. People should just really try to get to know their partner really well so unpleasant surprises and clashes might be lessened. Talk to eachother, people! Having said that, well, age gives one perspective and when you're punch-drunk on lust it's hard to even know the right kind of questions to ask eachother. The Catholic Church has a marriage prep class called a Pre Cana which is pretty much that.
Oddly enough when I went to Catholic school a religious education class was offered which was essentially studying world religions and cults, not sure what that was all about.
