The Let's Help Each other Get Healthier Thread!!!

That's great! I am sure you should believe it!

Don't get me wrong, I feel a lot better, healthier and more energy and everything. When I have my clothes on I feel great, I feel very proud of my new body and think I do look good, and I am still losing weight so every couple of months I feel even better ... with clothes on that is! But I am a single lady, and with every pound I lose, well, my self esteem plummets when I see myself naked. The extra sagging skin that has no where to go! I can't afford plastic surgery and from what I have read and heard that's the only way to get rid of it. I have done, and I am doing all of the firming exercise and while helping a little, it's still so horrible. I have even contemplating putting some weight back on just tighten things up a bit. But I don't want to do that, I've worked so hard and I know it would be seriously bad for my health.

I've not been with a man since losing the weight and find it hard to even think about. I feel like I am false advertising! In my clothes sure I look fine, but get them off, and well it's a nightmare. I just keep thinking why the hell didn't someone tell me this is what is going to happen if I lose a lot of weight!!! LOL When I was a larger size, a guy new what he was getting, but now, well you know, like I said, false advertising.

Oh...i didn't even touch on this issue... i too have a lot of excess skin..namely on my inner thighs at the moment. It's gross and it bothers me a lot. While plastic surgery isn't in my immediate future, at some point i think i will at least seriously consider it. To top it all off, i have a horrible C-section scar right above where my pubic hair would start. For the time being, anyone i am intimate with knows that i have lost a ton of weight/had two kids by C-section so they kinda know what they are getting into. i don't consider it false advertising anymore that a man who is drop dead gorgeous and then takes his pants off and has a small dick. It is one of those things that i cannot change right now, and i am not willing to deny myself sexual pleasure just so no one else has to see it.

How many pounds are in a stone?
i'm 5'8" and feeling pants :(
Think i'm hovering up at around 10 stone now

I'm the same height as you, and I'm a stone heavier (70.3kg, 155lbs). I've lost almost a stone (5.9kg, 13lbs) in 14 months just by working out at the gym. However as I've lost fat I've built up muscle and toned myself so my shape has changed (tummy flatter, legs and arms more shapely).

I now feel a lot better about my body. At 49 I'm fitter than I've ever been. It's not about how much you weigh, it's how you feel about yourself. Master Gil has noticed I am more self confident now and He is so proud of me for doing something for myself (He's always saying I should do more :) ).

I'm exercising more now. I'm sooo glad! It makes me feel better.

However, life is raining shit on me.

So, I'm medicating my moods with chocolate and coffee at times, carbs, whatever.

So, I dunno.

Oh and I couldn't fit in a very old dress last night which really made me feel FAT.

*grr*

Damnit!

Keep up the good work nonetheless, Fury.

As for me, 203 lbs! Here comes my lifelong obstacle/plateau, the even 200. Its been 20 years since the scale said 1 hundred-something.

my roomates and i made a big poster sized "excersize tracker" and put in up in our room. every time we go to the gym we get a sticker. when we get to a certain number of stickers, we get a reward (dvd, book, pair of earings, etc). its helped a lot with motivation.

Thanks! I will!

And awesome for YOU!

It sort of sucks. I already dropped a pant size, and now my new jeans are being constantly pulled up. I can't afford this.

I can now fit comfortably into a pair of jeans that I couldn't do up last year :D
A t shirt that was too tight now looks pretty damn good too.

I'm going shopping for new jeans soon, now that clothes fit again :)

do you feel encouraged now?

Its a struggle still, there is still this underlying feeling of emptiness. Im still waiting for that to go away.

I've given a lot of ladies that want to affect a major change in body composition the advice to start lifting weights. Lifting weights (and eating right) builds muscle, and mucle is metabolically active tissue, and thus burns calories. This means you burn more calories even when sleeping. The common response is "Ewww, I don't want to get all big and bulky!" My usual response is "Even guys don't get all big and bulky generally, unless they use drugs." Women just don't have the testosterone levels to do it.

Well, I figured I'd share a comp of videos by one of the powerlifters that contribute articles to a site I regularly visit. Her name is Hannah Johnson, and she is a elite level competitior in powerlifting in the 148lb class.

Yeah, she might be a little more muscular than you want to be across the shoulders, but she is an elite level athlete. This is a woman that lifts 3-4 times a week, and lifts HEAVY. A recent meet total was in excess of 960# (that is her total in the bench press, squat, and deadlift). Yes, those are geared lifts, for those who are checking, but still frikken great lifts for a little slip of a gal.

The point is that you can lift weights and not get all huge and bulky. She has a mid-section that most women would kill for, and damned nice legs and butt too.

(And you get the added benefit of seeing some of the goofy shit that powerlifters go through. the clips where she is taking off and putting on her squat suit are decidedly amusing. "Just hanging around" :D )

Hi all!!!

i should have posted this last Monday, but life has kinda gotten in the way. i did my bi-weekly weigh-in and i am THRILLED to report that i am down to 169. :nana: 170 was my first major goal, so i have met it!!!!!

i'm tryng to figure out if i am going to keep losing through the holidays or if i just want to maintain and enjoy some holiday goodies. i'm not sure what is going to be the better option for me.

I would not want to look like her. I don't particularly care if I have a washboard abs - not that that's likely. Stretch markes to my boobs and all that.
