The Let's Help Each other Get Healthier Thread!!!

How is everyone doing? i'm trying to eat well, and i have been getting enough exercise...but all the holiday goodies are getting to me..

I've only managed to get to the gym twice a week lately instead of my usual three, and it's only going to get worse through January.....because we are involved with speedway and there are so many meetings through the month not just on weekends. Trying to fit in the gym, Sir's medical needs and just get enough rest will be the priorities :)

I'm doing high protein, low carbs. I'm on day three or four and doing surprisingly well. I haven't started excercising at all though - well I haven't been back on the treadmill in two weeks (when I fell off of it). I'm working it in. I'm also trying to cut back on my caffeine, and the headaches are terrible.:(

finals is screwing with my schedule. i feel like i havnt been to the gym in forever. i did get to the dance studio for a little bit today.

a slump of my own making.. of rationalizing that I can cheat.. just this one time.. has kept me in a slump of the same 10 lbs.

So here I go again at 268... and trying to get in to the 250's sometime in january and to stay there

Got my cast off, only to have it replaced with an air cast (their idea of a walking splint) - the exercise gods are laughing at me right now. So I still can't exercise for another 4 weeks but I can weigh myself. Didn't gain nor lose so all is good. Now to make it thru the 3 dinners I have to plan and cook for this holiday stretch.

Well, I was doing well. But we almost ran out of food and money (I went and got a food basket) so I couldn't be picky AND eat. We got some money yesterday, got groceries and I'm back on my diet. :nana:

Ugh...i have two holiday parties this weekend to get through. i also have to do the cooking for Xmas eve and Xmas day dinner. (Lots of rich, Italian food.)

i'm just trying to maintain and i have upped my exercise to every day to try to compensate for the "treats."

Cooking rather than eating crap, which is the key thing. Lots and lots of frozen peas. Lots and lots of tuna.

Frozen peas = little green balls of sugar with some vitamins thrown in

Better than cocoa puffs, but still...

And, yes, I like the little bastards. *grumbles*

I was talking about the ingredient. Not as is. I've never eaten peas while they were still frozen.

I'll probably try it now though...

Ew. Ew. And wait, more Ews!

My brother in law and nephew eat them like they're candy. When my nephew was living with us, I kept 'em around for him, cause they're good for you, but still EW!

*shrug* I can see it. Crunchy, somewhat sweet, basically healthy.

That's why I was willing to keep 'em around for him. I won't keep candy in the house, but frozen peas . . . why not? But I tried 'em. Yuck. I only like peas steamed, with butter and salt. Yum.

Picky.

My 3yo and 1yo love peas. Only the frozen kind, and not cooked..just defrosted.

Me...not so much. Then again, i am a huge fan of brussel sprouts.

Really? Hmmm...

My little one likes those broccoli bite things that look like chicken nuggets but are really veggie on the inside. - Sneaky I know.

I'm trying to find creative ways to get them to eat their veggies.

I have more problems getting them to eat their meat than their veggies. Normally the veggies are *poof* gone and I'm negotiating on the meat.

BTW, I've found dessert is a wonderful negotiating tool. I tell them if they're full, they don't have to eat, but if they're that full then obviously they don't have room for desert. It's amazing how quickly they finish their food.

my brother and i were both born with sever allergies to sugar and dairy (we outgrew them in our tweens).

we used to eat frozen peas as candy. and acorn squash.

my mother just gave me my belated hannukah present... gym membership while im home for winter break. now i can stay on track :)
