THE NEW CHYOO (with link)! Also, what features should be part of an updated CHYOO?

I've written four threads for stories I'm not the owner of, none of which are approved yet. I went to see if I could edit one of those today only to find that the one I was looking for was missing. There was no notification that it was decline, and I have my settings set to do that. Previously I had received notifications so I assume that works.

I have looked at it and it seems as if your threads aren't approved yet. To make editing and viewing easier, I have changed the code. Pending threads are now listed for logged in users as follow-up questions (story map excluded). But you can still access your pending threads under "Manage stories" (triangle next to your username at the top right).

If I'm not asking too much, I think It could be useful to have a "save" button (while editing a thread) on the bottom of the page too. To avoid having to scroll all the way up again each time. thx

For anyone who wants to have a more compact view of the site, here's a script you can add via Stylish ( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/stylish/ ).

@namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);

@-moz-document domain("chyoa.com") {
h1 {font-size:18px!important}
h2 {font-size:16px!important}
.question-header{margin-top:5px!important;padding-top:5px!important;margin-bottom:5px!important;padding-bottom:5px!important}
.content{margin-top:5px;padding-top:5px;margin-bottom:5px;padding-bottom:5px}
.thread{margin-top:5px;padding-top:5px;margin-bottom:5px;padding-bottom:5px}
.review{margin-top:5px;padding-top:5px;margin-bottom:5px;padding-bottom:5px}
.container{margin-top:5px;padding-top:5px;margin-bottom:5px;padding-bottom:5px}
.question{margin-top:5px;padding-top:5px;margin-bottom:5px;padding-bottom:5px}
.irx{margin-top:5px;padding-top:5px;margin-bottom:5px;padding-bottom:5px}
.thread-preview-description{padding: 5px 0px 10px!important}

.thread-content p {font-size:16px!important; margin-bottom:10px}
}

I just noticed that several of my threads in Slut World now have the creator of the story's name on them.

I just approved a few threads on my story "the cure" and only the first one shows up. I tried adding a thread to the end of the chain but it doesn't show up either.

thanks, what happened? is it something i can avoid in the future?

It seems as if this bug occurs when a thread is approved but their parent thread isn't (still pending). In other words, approve those threads first which come first chronologically. Can you confirm this?

i approved all the threads at once, i think i may have done that since there were 3 children and 1 parent.

I'd like to know when we'll get the option to link to an already written thread when creating player choices.

There is no user interface at the moment. But you can link to another thread using the following syntax. Just type "#LINKTO {THREAD ID}" into the text field and the user will be redirected to the specified thread (for example, "#LINKTO 39493"). You can look up the thread id under "Manage stories". I hope this helps for now.

Banning authors

So I've been having a thread posted to one of my stories, which I rejected because the writing is sub par and gives no advancement to the plot. The exact same thread (and I do mean EXACT. Not so much as a new comma) is resubmitted mere hours later. This has been going on for about a month, and it really gets me down to log in expecting to find new content only to find the same crap again and again.

So I guess what I'm wondering is if we can block users or content automatically, or if I just have to keep purging it manually?

the quote turn into question point.

I wonder if it's just a browser problem but in some story the " turn into ?.
For exemple: ?Yes John? Doe replies. instead of "Yes John" Does replies.

No it's a problem with the charset and the import of stories from the old chyoo, afaik.
It's on the list of things to fix.

The Chyoo 1 to Chyoo 2 migration also had the problem with munging smart quotes. (I avoid them, partly for this reason).

Grin and bear it, purging it manually for now, I suspect, is the most expedient response.

The ablility to link an already made threat in the sme story line would be nice. Some times stories split at a point but could come back together later. It would be nice not to have to paste a hyperlink or copy and paste the whole thread

In every post there is a field to add 'tags' below the main body of the post.

I believe that while these tags are put in a specific post, the tag itself is added to the story as a whole.

In this way, any contributing writer to the story can add 'tags' they feel are appropriate. As a minor 'site edit, may want to make it easy for a story's author to remove tags they disagree with and do not want. If that were to occur I think it would be very minor in annoyance level.
Thanks Friedman and thanks again to all of you developing the site for your hard work. The site is great, I like how you feature a story on the front page too. It gives people a taste...

One more question; how do we tag our stories? I've been through 'manage stories' and editing etc but can't seem to find out how to do it?

If someone (not necessarily the developers) has the time, maybe they could do up a quick FAQ or Tutorial thread for some of these new features?

I've been starting to tag some of the threads of my stories.

It looks like the harvesting of tags from thread to story only happens every few days, at least for edits. But they eventually make it.

Forgive me if this has been answered already but I can't find it.

I've returned after a long absence to find a new chyoo (woo hoo!) however, many of my old stories relied on linking threads back to main storylines - these links are all now broken. Is there a way to fix this? Can we even link threads anymore?

We will. It's not operational yet, but give it time.

It's been partly implemented already.

Thanks guys. And thanks to everyone who works on the site.

Will the old links be automatically put back or will I have to do them again manually? (i.e. should I get started fixing the links myself?)
