THE NEW CHYOO (with link)! Also, what features should be part of an updated CHYOO?

Just a random suggestion: if possible (reads: easy) show the authors of a story (and the actual contributors?) how many have their story bookmarked.
I think it's one of the best ways to see if a story is followed\appreciated (much better than total views)

I was going to suggest that, as well. Seeing the number of times a story's been bookmarked in addition to total views would be great.

Also, will notifications for comments be implemented with the update for linking, or will that be worked on afterwards?

View Count does not appear to be working. Is it designed to update the viewable count only occasionally?

I've noticed the view count only updates once every few days. At least, that seemed to be the case as of the past few weeks, but the views and ratings haven't updated in a while now.

The views should be updated daily. Since the site is growing, I have to optimize this algorithm.

Edit: The views are now up to date.

Found a small issue with the new sites for whatever reason when my threads were moved to choa all the punctuation was changed to a Question mark. Going thru a bit of a time editing them but just wanted to let the mods know.

okay, so I'm having some computer issues that are keeping me from writing but the new site looks good and all the issues I found so far have been addressed. Well done, Friedman.

One possible feature I personally would like would be able to block certain users from posting in my stories, sort of like an anti-trusted status. I don't know much work that would be, but it's a thought I had. Figured I'd share.

Are there plans for more options for notifications? Currently an author is not notified of either new reviews, or more importantly, new COMMENTS on stories or threads they have written. The "My Threads" page could have a # of comments, or "unread comments" column.

I'm going to integrate more comprehensive feedback options. Besides notifications there will be a separate feedback page which lists all comments given to one story and writer.

I seriously love the new site, and the fact that you're continuing to work so hard on it. Please keep up the great work.

I can't find another place where it would be appropriate to thank the people who made this all possible so I shall do it here. Thanks a lot! In my opinion, "quality" interactive stories are nearly impossible to come across outside of Chyoo/Chyoa.

The new site design looks so fresh, I love it keep up the great work!

Where do I see my threads waiting for author approval?

I contributed a new thread candidate to Torg's Living Like Bonobos.

Should I be able to see the new thread somewhere before it's approved? Or does "I can't see anything" mean I need to resubmit?

-Z.

Your thread should be listed as "Pending" under "Manage stories". At the moment new threads are only displayed as an answer or in the map if they were approved.

Kindly fix the link and gid for /rss feeds. reader could not follow the link or gid because its missing http. see below. thanks

That's a literotica issue, not Chyoo.

Thanks for the kind words!

I would also like to thank the new site developer(s). I know these things take awhile, and I'm patient.

As a suggestion, I'd like to be able to sort searches by views in the last month. The monthly posting of top viewed stories on the CHYOO forums was fun.

I'd just like to say that I love the new site. It looks great and is easy to access.

I've only had one issue so far: Over the past few days I, well, went a little overboard posting stuff to the Shadow Hunters story. It all got approved, but when I look at the story map only the first threads show up and not the continuing threads. When I look at them, the options are there, they just don't show up on the story map itself.

Are chyoo stories/updates regularly imported to chyoa?

How frequently are stories from chyoo imported to chyoa?

Back when chyoa became publicly available it was said that chyoa stories couldn't be exported to chyoo, but that chyoo stories could be imported to chyoa.

I added to one of my chyoo stories that I am editor of, but not creator of. I did this because chyoa doesn't list me as owner, so I reasoned that the update to the story would be imported at some time. Now I'm wondering if there is a routinely scheduled time at which chyoa is 'synced' with chyoo.

If there are updates like this, will it catch modifications of existing threads?

non-english stories

hi there, great job with the new site, everything looks very nice. i'd just like to know what happens to the non-english stories section. i've seen your addition "dated", and i can't find the non-english stories in the drop-down menu "all categories".
thanks a lot for letting me know.

post your story in the category it belongs to.
Just use the language-field to define the language of the story.

yeah I was coming here about this too. It is odd that only those showed up when I approved everything at once. Even stuff I approved after that didn't show up either and the one post I did adding to Briefcase's work isn't showing up on the map either. I can still get there through the story options but it takes time to work through to it from where it picks up on the story map.

Also Briefcase there is no way you could ever go overboard. Please keep adding things because I love your work. If you add 30 things in one day I would still not see that as overboard lol.

On the old site, I could enter the story title in the Keyword slot and search for the latest changed threads of the story. When I try to do this on the new site, it comes back with no data. What's up? Is there some other way to just search one story?

I've changed this behavior. You can now enter a story title to list all recently updated threads.

See https://chyoa.com/search?c=all&q=slut+world&show=threads&sort=updated&order=desc

The category "non-english" is going to be deleted in the future. It's now possible to assign a language to a story as Trugbild explained. That is supposed to happen to all stories in this category. For the moment I've added the "non-english" category to the dropdown.

How frequently are stories from chyoo imported to chyoa? If there are updates like this, will it catch modifications of existing threads?

It was at the beginning an automated process. But since some users posted the same threads on both Chyoo and Chyoa I had to deactivate the site synchronization.

There seems to be an interference with the cache. I'll look into it.

I've written some new threads for the Farmer's Daughter and am waiting for approval but under Manage Stories > Waiting for Approval is empty with the message "No pending threads."

DirtyTyke, one of those 2 thread stories is mine, even though I started it after doing plenty in other stories. Sometimes it happens.

I don't think it hurts anything. Sure, they take up a tiny bit of server space, but it's really tiny. Everyone can see that those stories aren't deep, so it's not like people are wasting a lot of time on them.

The new site looks great, thanks for all the hard work Friedman!

It's great having a working interactive format again. Those guys at Literotica must have been crazy to let a site as popular as chyoo go to the dogs like that but, ah well, their loss.

I understand it is still in beta, so can be a bit buggy but I'm having a similar problem to some others, I've added to 'Simon Says' and can't see the thread in the story or on my 'waiting for approval' list. Is it still waiting for approval or just lost in dead-space?

Also, I can't work out how to bookmark stories or threads. In the old chyoo (how you must hate those words) you could see stories that you hadn't created but had contributed to in your 'manage stories' after login. Does CHYOA have a function something like that to make finding those kinds of stories easier?

Cheers & keep up all the good work sir!

I not sure about anyone else but I find it really annoying how many poorly written one or two thread stories there are. I'd like to suggest that perhaps new authors can only add to existing stories rather than creating their own. After having contributed a certain number of accepted threads authors could gain new story rights.

I realise this is a somewhat radical change, but I think it could be of great benefit.
When I first looked at chyoo I was put off as there were far too many of these stories with either only a couple of threads, really bad grammar and spelling, or constant inconsistencies in viewpoint and character names or details. I imagine I'm not alone and a lot of other potential readers and authors discount the site due to these problems.

Presumably story owners exercise some restraint in approving poor threads, and there would therefore be some form of selection where only people that can actually write a paragraph can contribute.

Just a suggestion. Thoughts?
I'm conflicted but I'd say I agree.
Analizing it:

- On the negative side we'd have less new stories by new users
- On the positive side we'd have more support to existing stories
- On the positive side we'd have less abandoned stories in general
- On the positive side we'd have less bad and spammy stories

Wait, I'm not conflicted. That's a big YES.

PS: news on development guys? The possibility to link threads and the new system for accepting threads are really needed imo. Can't wait to see the site in its full form :)

I'm no longer editor of Farmer's Daughter, since I wasn't the creator.

I'm pretty certain that the original creator has been gone for many years, which is why I took it over.
