The good news is, the self tests rule out carpal tunnel. The bad news is, my wrists and forearms hurt.

Let it be neither...

Dystonia, really? Can you manage it?

I did PT for a couple of months a few years ago, and it helped up to a point, but the pain of nerve regrowth was worse than the pain of living with the damage, so I stopped doing the exercises.

It gets worse when I'm tense, but for the most part I'm so used to it that I don't notice the discomfort until after I've over-done things. [Not a good thing. ]

Example - I've started journaling every morning, and 6 days in a row of hand writing 1/2 - 3/4 of a page has caused a minor flare up. Instead of drawing, I try to focus on photography. If I want to sew, I plan ahead and cut a pattern out over 2-3 days, instead of in an hour. As much as I want to crochet and knit, I've accepted it's not in the stars right now. My hand cramps easily, falls asleep quickly (certain yoga positions and I are not friends), and I have yet to figure out the trick to strength training with a weak-as-hell wrist.

I am going to have to actually deal with it at some point though. The doctor who diagnosed me several years ago said that there wasn't really anything that could be done aside from PT, anti-inflammatory OTC meds, and being more aware of/ avoiding repetitive motion that could cause further damage. (Gee thanks...during flare ups, I can't even grip the steering wheel with both hands, without paying for it later. lol)

I'm getting much better at not arguing with stupid people on line.

Seriously, so many people involved in arguing about meat have NO FUCKING IDEA how the industry functions on any level, meat physiology/chemistry, or post-slaughter processing. You try to educate them, but then like "well how do you know?" "well, my degree kind of involved multiple classes about this subject" "YOU'VE BEEN BRAINWASHED BY TEH MAN!!". Because your PETA propaganda is much less manipulating...

it may only be the idiocy of a few, but all i need to know about PETA is that some of them feel animals should have a vote. Not fictionally "uplifted" animals, not possibly intelligent animals... what they're really saying in the most idiotic way possible is that they want an extra vote because they own a dog.

as to meat industry? I briefly worked behind a meat counter & I have also been a student of human, avian, canine & equine kineisiology, that is to say I know that most of those "cuts" have very different names when the muscles are still on the animal. Sadly I've forgotten most of those specific names, but the point remains that most mammals have surprisingly few kineisiological variations in musculature; every mammal has a deltoid. It makes those variations or even similarities you don't expect positively stunning.

I'm off track. right; I'm pretty clueless about meat industry, apart from I know it's pretty grisly, no pun intended. I choose to be ignorant and eat meat anyway... because i'm an omnivore, it's yummy, & I have too many food allergies to be picky on principles grounded in subjects I'd rather not understand.

The more you talk, the more I think you're a wonderfully reasonable human being :D Also, it IS amazing how little variation there really is in the anatomical structure of animals. On a musculoskeletal level, there's not even VAST differences between animal kingdoms (not that can't be accounted for with some small study, anyway). And thank god, because otherwise my job would be IMPOSSIBLE -_-

*flop* what a bloody weekend. I feel very James Herriot today, though, so I suppose that's fulfilling xD
