I want to pour out my thoughts and feelings here. But having already been found here once I worry my weaknesses will be found. I also worry, in contrast, that no one would bother to try to find me here. Either way writing isn't something I feel able to do at this moment...

Oh no, I'm impressed that you even found the threads you did! And they are applicable to the discussion.

I hope that chemo gets the hell out of your system soon.

And gin. Always gin. To put vodka in a martini?

*laughs*

I'm sorry, but it was the last part that finally resonated with me during your conversation.

Why would you put vodka in a martini? in anything xD To me, vodka in a cocktail is purely to enhance the alcohol content. It's such an...empty flavour. Not to say there are good high quality vodkas with excellent flavour on their own. But I've never found one that actually enhanced the TASTE of a cocktail.

Whereas, gin is complex, herby and tickles your noise with delight (not with astringent alcho fumes like vodka).

Now, I'm naughty and I actually have a preference for "sweet"martinis that use sweet vermouth in lieu of dry. I like a bit of sugar in my alcohol; my taste buds find it as richer taste.

But seriously, if you catch me making "vodka martinis" just take me out back and throw me in a sorority or something

Seriously. The slogan for vodka should be: "All the hangover, none of the flavour!"

Noted.

Martinis are too big of a drink for me - if I want gin and a lime, I'll drink a gin & tonic. But lately I've really been digging Old Fashioneds with a lime. One of my chef friends decided to redecorate my living room when he was staying over this past week, and now I have a wet bar where all my frequently used booze lives! My bitters and bourbon and decanter live there, as do any open bottles of wine I happen to have lying around. It was a complete surprise, and so nice to discover at 7 in the morning when we all got out of bed.

Hm... Slipping back into "worn out" mode sucks. Working for myself is awesome, except I know that there isn't a pay check at the end of the week... Hopefully, this grows into something. If not, I have to go back to what I was doing. And I don't want to be on the verge of hurting myself, again.

Really, really wanting this to work out. So many things have pointed to this being the best way. >.<

Hang in there, Meek. :rose:

That sounds so marvelous. I just have everything lined up on a shelf in the kitchen. My appliances are much less important than my booze :p

I was less prepared for this one.
But I felt equally as confident when it was all said and done.
Hopefully the outcome is the same.

Cocktails:

Plus: high alcohol content, delicious, interesting

Minus: drunk, drunk, horny, inappropriate, drunk.

I'm not a maestro, but I play one on the Interwebz. ;)

Put differently, watch this scene from Good Will Hunting and let Matt Damon's character fill in for the collective wisdom of all the folks who have posted in this forum over the years.

I spent far too many years in grad school and one of the consequences is that I developed a highly sensitive system for detecting pretentiousness. Forty years later I still think it's the Original Sin of thought.

So I've had my driver's license for, what, two weeks now? And my car was totaled this morning. Thankfully I wasn't in it at the time - it was parked on my street, and some idiot (either drunk or while texting) ran into the driver's side back end. Of course he didn't leave a note or insurance information. The trunk hood, side quarter panel, and taillight area all need replacing. And since it was my late mother's car, I'm having all kinds of Dead Mom Emotions about the idea of having to get rid of it. And of course I don't have money for a new car, but it's under my dad's insurance, and I'm hoping they pay out at least what the car is worth (about $800). Ack, this sucks.

Crap. I screwed up Meatless October on the 1st of October already.

I may or may not have thought that September has 31 days instead of 30.

Barre workouts, and awesome new find. :)

A Barre workout, Zumba, and yoga all in one day, maybe too much. A little stiff this morning. :(

I know right? :p And meatless october is a torture that many omnivores inflict on themselves for incomprehensible reasons :p I think it cleanses them of some odd meatshame? Like a minifast? I don't quite understand it myslef ;P

Why in october? I tend to go nearly meatless in the late spring or so, because there is so much wonderful veggie food available. But october, the temperature is dropping, I want stews and steaks.
