Meatless October is just a month when people are encouraged to eat more vegetarian food, even skip meat altogether if they're up for it. There's alliteration to it in Finnish, lihaton lokakuu, so that's why it's in October. I don't know if it's done elsewhere in the world.

It's not about "meatshame" or fasting or clensing your soul. It's just about people realizing that there's good, tasty and wholesome food that doesn't contain any meat, too. A lot of people still believe that vegetarian food can't have enough protein in it or that you'll be hungry right after having a vegetarian meal. And very often people just have a generally crappy attitude towards vegetarian food.

:/ I hope I didn't offend. I was just being tongue-in-cheek, because those are the mentalities a LOT of American people have when they do things like "no meat for x duration". I wasn't necessarily trying to imply that's always the case, just make a joke poking fun at THEM.
 
Am strongly tempted to go on a curmudgeonly rage and offer my special take in threads with such titles as What's poly?" and "I'm I'm too Something-or-other." Hints: it's a form of plastic and the BDSM forum for typo fetishists is three doors down on the left.

Sorry you don't like my thread. I posted here because these are the people I relate to, and I want to know what the people who hang out here have to say. Seela, Bramblethorn, Iris, Endless and everyone else who participated in my thread. I don't really give a fuck what people in the fetish threads have to say. Hint: or curmudgeonly old grumps, either :p Sure glad that at least your haircut turned out nice...

Heh, I had a friend call me out for being "way less straight than I claim". She seemed fairly surprised when I promptly agreed. Was she expecting me to argue with her? That'd be a little silly, considering some of the conversations she's been party to xD
