STORY REJECTED!!!​

Yes, I just checked and my nude day contest story was rejected. What a surprise!

Here's the reason: STORY REJECTED: In the interest of fair play, please remove any derogatory mentions of other authors or stories in the contest.

Actually there was no mention of any other author in my story. Nor had I ever noticed any stories being rejected in the past when "derogatory" shots were taken at me.

It apparently was my introduction that offended the QUEEN . Here's what I wrote:

This is my official 2010 LITEROTICA Nude Day Contest entry. It’s a contest where you the reader gets to vote on all the contest submissions. Well, except for one author, D.K.MOON, who entered a story in this contest but arrogantly announced NO ONE could vote for his story – I guess he doesn’t believe ordinary readers are good enough for him. I however welcome your vote!

It’s rather longer than my ordinary submission, more than 4 LITEROTICA pages long, but I believe (and hope) that there’s something in it for everyone. All the characters in the story are over 18 years of age. WARNING: This story includes descriptions of sex between siblings and between a grandfather and his granddaughter.

And the reason: STORY REJECTED: Please remove the " XXXXX CENSORED BY LITEROTICA XXXXX" from your story or we will not post it. The rule is: "Turning off voting on a story at any point - for any reason - disqualifies a submission from any and all contests." This means the story cannot win the contest. Neither can those who won in the previous special contest. This does not mean that author can't submit. We have neither the time nor the inclination to deal with personal forum squabbles, drama, lies about the site, and gossip games. If you want to enter the contest, fine. If you want to use the contest to play drama games and cause problems for us, then we will keep rejecting this submission. It's your choice.

The good news is that at least the rejecter wrote something this time. But “gossip games”? What the heck is a “gossip game”? Or a “drama game” for that matter. And let’s face it, this whole charade could have been diffused weeks ago. Announce you’re going to change the rule (and why) or enforce it. Pretty simple. One post!

What I believe is that forum squabbles have always been fine with the boss, But my writing about the D.K.MOONS contest story having its voting turned off in my intro meant that actual readers would learn they’d be disenfranchised – a completely different problem.
Anyway I've resubmitted the story. If the QUEEN wants me to grovel... The offending line has been removed.

I did write the following in the NOTES field when I resubmitted (it won't be seen by the readers):

Okay, YOU WIN. Whoever you are! Unfortunately no signature came with the rejection. The offending line is gone. You've censored the entry but are unwilling to allow readers to know that it's been censored. So be it.

As to the rule itself: If that is really what you meant when you wrote the rule I suggest you rewrite it. Quite frankly I don't believe it was what you meant.

And I think we both know your decision makes no sense at all. You've been trying to encourage more reader participation for years (voting, comments, contest judging etc.) Now, after inviting readers to judge the stories in a contest, you allow certain of your favorites to bend the rules and exempt themselves.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find any contest anywhere that was designed to be judged by the public that would allow an entrant to unilaterally decide that he would be in said contest but HE wouldn't subject his entry to judging. It's ludicrous.

I can just see Mr. Moon on a reality tv show telling the producer that he wanted to perform "ON AIR" but he wouldn't allow his performance to be voted on.

On the last couple of pages I’ve read at least a couple of complaints by various of your “talented, caring, and even loving people” that your poooor underappreciated story was hovering around 4. Making it sound like the world had ended.

You get an average of 4 and its unfair? When 4 means: Really Liked It! – Good Read. Quite frankly you should be singing hallelujahs if you can get a couple of hundred people to vote that score on one of your stories.

But not once has any of them said, "My story is the greatest! It's gotten tons of votes and feedback. I'm great! I'm wonderful! Vote for me!"

And by the way, speaking of asking for votes, you do the EXACT same thing in this thread when you say "Only one more vote will push it over the mark, why not open it, read it and vote today!"

Because you see, our leaders (who are quite intelligent btw – although hardheaded) understood quite clearly, even if you don’t, that our readers wouldn’t understand why a contest that was supposed to be judged by them allowed stories into the contest with the voting turned off. And they wouldn’t have understood it because, no matter how often they’re belittled by you “talented, caring, and even loving people”, they do have some common sense.

Again, the readers don't give a shit. Not once have I seen one single reader complain about it, other than the copy and paste comments you so colorfully posted a few weeks back, which, by the way, were all worded nearly the same and more than likely made up.

They took some bets and made some money.

When everyone else was guessing and speculating, I was cleaning up.

Only three (3) of the top 100 FAVORITE authors on LITEROTICA entered stories in the EARTH DAY contest. Were more enticed to enter this one?

Here are some numbers:

UNKNOWNS/NEWBEES/AHers ALTS WHO ENTERED:32
AVERAGE # OF COMMENTS PER STORY: 1.3 (this is after removing comments made by contestants)
AVERAGE STORY QUALITY: Down 17% from 2009, 31% from 2008, and a total of 63% from 2005.

The following were the TOP 100 MOST FAVORITE AUTHORS who entered: #1- sarahhh , #9- sccouries, #28 - Tx Tall Tales, #59 - DG Hear, #61 –Boxlicker.

And while five (5) top 100 authors is better than last contests three (3), in fact a sixty-seven percent increase (67%), the number is still embarrassingly low.

The following authors felt that the LITEROTICA reading public would be well served if more than one of their stories were entered: andtheend (10), ogman (3), SpeedoTwink (3), litfan (2), m_storyman_x (2), a-bent-amersand (2)

By and large they were inaccurate in their assessments of our readers needs!

Various SURVIVOR contestants entered stories (to amass the extra 5 or 10 points needed in that other horrid contest). These authors included (among others, bakedboss, SeanRenaud, aL Ussa, andtheend, theravenfox, boxlicker, and yoursSINSerely.

One author, the infamous rule breaker D.K.MOON, in a direct insult to the LITEROTICA reading public, entered a story with the voting turned off.

We had our first audio contest story in years, one oralated by the lovely ravenfox.

Story quality fell again, continuing a 5 year trend of uninterrupted decline. Informed contest observers credit this decline to one, a tired theme; and two, the unwillingness of so many of LITEROTICA’S best authors to participate. A recent survey of the TOP 100 found that the rampant cheating, and the irregularities and lack of transparency in the voting, have convinced many of the giants to stay on the sidelines.

This year’s quality figures would have shown any even larger decline except for the presence of the FIVE TOP 100 FAVORITES who chose to compete in spite of all the problems. These five put the LITEROTICA reader ahead of their own concerns (perhaps this explains why they’re so FAVORITED?).

Can we ever stop this downward spiral? Or is the LITEROTICA special contest system destined for the dumps and the cheaters and vote fixers who live there?

Does anyone out there have a blueprint for survival?

Yes I’ve noticed that the wonderful covers you’ve done for so many of my stories have been disappearing.

But it’s not our friend from Missigan who’s been complaining and reporting them. All the complaints about your extraordinary covers have come from Indiana and Texas.

Why is it always the less talented who skulk around in the darkness doing their dirty deeds? Why are they always afraid to stand up in the light of the day?
