The ways we neglect ourselves

It depends on what part of the beef you can't eat... I sort of remember that the main flavoring in beef is uremic acid or something like that, and that's what people are often allergic to. Sorry to be so vague!

I'm not sure. I wonder if it'd be okay if I kept the meat lean. I guess I'll experiment and see.

Atkins? Ewww

South Beach is the new Atkins and it ain't new. But yeah, on the beach there is no counting.

Whatever floats your canoe I guess.

Well, it might. I love soup - I don't make it very often cause K's not so big on it. But I could make a lot in advance and just heat it up.

Things that make you go hm.

Am I the only one who hasn't heard of this clean eating diet? lol I got an PM the other day from someone on lit directing me to their website, I'm planning on checking out their book and possibly getting it. Plus I bookmarked their recipe area.

Oh yeah - I'm lactose intolerant - no dairy. lol It doesn't bother me, but the smells I make on dairy really annoy my family.

I felt like that too! I just started. Can I tell you? I feel fantastic. I've also been reading about the paleo diet (speaking of no dairy), but it sounds really extreme to me.

Make your own stock with a chicken carcass, or beef stock bones and some onions, celery, carrots, bay leaf, etc. and then use that for soup. It's amazing!

Gracie... I don't know how it tastes, but this might be an option.

My youngest and middle boys have pretty bad food allergies, so I have gotten used to "digging" for substitutes.

Cool, thanks for the link. I added it to my favorites to refer back to.

It looks cool, and not to far from what I do anyway. I can't eat corn products, so no MSG or corn syrup which cuts out most processed foods. But I'm looking more and more forward to buying the book.

This is when my extreamly limited sense of smell comes in handy. :D

Well, my sense of smell works fine - when I can breathe which is rare. lol

I usually make my own stock, but there's a few brands I'll buy because it doesn't have anything nasty added to it.

Oh, in case anyone is curious, I'm doing okay with my diet today. I messed up this morning and had a tortilla (gluten), but otherwise have stuck to it pretty well. It helps that I bought myself some almonds to keep in the car for when I'm craving sweets (like anytime I drive by a stop and rob).
