The Who am I game

missy_me,
This is probably a painfully obvious subject...but I have no idea!

And this is bugging me as I know many artists and authors...although clearly not all, but your clues should have given me, or others a good guess.

So, just wanting to make sure you knew at least one person is still trying to solve your riddle...

He was also a teacher.
His artwork saved him from inevitable torture and death, at least for a while.

And LB, I don't think this is a painfully obvious subject for a lot of people, so don't feel bad. :)

Count me in, too.

Eric Carle?

Wow! That was fast! 8 minutes...

Congratulations! :rose:

(And its nice to see you back!)

p.s. His best known book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar celebrated its 40th anniversary last week.

Congratulations! :rose:

Thank you. :rose:

The book is quite popular in Germany.

When I looked it up, I found this interesting:

“In a 1999 survey, George W. Bush listed the book among his favorite from his childhood. This raised some questions since Bush was twenty-three when the book was first published.”

She was a very exceptional woman of her time.
She was a nun.
She was able to brew beer.

Hildegarde von Bingen was an exceptional woman, a nun and wrote about beer making, so I assumed she made it. But I can't confirm your image.

Good guess. The woman I am looking for had a more critical view of the church, though.

She made a spectacular escape from her cloister.

How about Katharina von Bora, the wife of Martin Luther?

That's better. Congratulations. :rose:

She fled together with other nuns hidden between herring barrels on a wagon. The escape was organised by Luther. They had 6 children together.

It was a story I didn't know. So I learned something new....

And so after much deliberation, here is my offering...

A composer
Many of his works can't be played by human people
He is not a monkey, clearly....

OK, you guys...this one was a gimme...
Its going to be hard to post another clue without giving it away, but I will try...

He is not known by his birth name.

I refuse to post a Where Am I riddle until someone guesses this one...my multi-tasking abilities are diminished, lately...

He's a really a pretty famous composer of the 20th Century.

I'm pretty sure that he is well known throughout the world, in fact.

I'm having trouble coming up with more clues that won't give the whole thing away. ;)
