Problem is though I'm a Virgo and hence a perfectionist, maybe I gotta try it anyways, I just don't want to get mixed up with just letters, lol.

I know the feeling - I'm a Virgo too. Sometimes I can beat the perfectionist into submission for awhile. Other times I agonise for days over a name before continuing on (then end up changing it later anyway )

Well another thing is this is based off roleplay I did with a friend, so it's a little harder for me. I don't want to use the character names that we used for a few different reasons, but I want names that I will be pleased with. Then again the whole perfectionist thing almost kept me from putting up my first story...I'm also nervous about this one, in some ways I think more nervous. But editting will be easier, getting hubby to do it as I write it, hehe.

Perfectionism isn't limited to virgos, folks. Part of the reason it's so damn hard for me to finish anything is that I get caught up in rewriting what I already have. There's that little voice screaming at me that what's already there isn't "finished."

Name-wise, you might try labeling the two characters with nonsense names such as, Cheech and Chong. No promise that'll work, of course. I can usually deal with temporary names for characters in short stories or minor ones in novels, but the major characters in my novels MUST have a name and bio.

I like to start with Generic names, and see how the characters develop.
What I've learned about naming characters;
The names are not nearly as relevant as you think; nobody names their daughter because they know she'll become a barbarian princess, or a stripper, or an engineer, or a butch dyke. One of my stories (sorry, I don't mean to sound egotistical, but this is the only way I can give examples) has a lipstick lesbian named Jessamine, and a butch dyke named Gloria. This means that my femme's nickname, "Jess", is actually more butch than her partner's name- who makes up for it by getting called "Daddy G" half the time.

You should hear us when we really get going, had some good ones on the mood or blurt thread, lol. It's even worse when we have people encouraging us, well usually they encourage him but details.

This one could possibly turn into a series, not going to guarentee anything on that one though. Since I'm a rp'er, both chat and D&D I think it's a little harder for me sometimes. Last time I did a background for a character that in itself was at least 3 typed pages long with promises to the DM that I would expand it, lol.

It's a Medieval/Fantasy story, based off of rp I have done with a friend. One is a shifter, she can shift into a dragon which is just as comfortable as her human form. She's very strong, femanine and all that stuff although perhaps a bit timid when it comes to sexual acts because she has never been with anyone. The other is again very femanine, however she is quite a bit more timid. She had a bad experience with a man, has chosen to be with women only because of her fear of men. The one time she is confident is in the bedroom, almost as if she has split personalities, lol. The second female is human but if I gave you more that would give things away, if you want more I can send you the first page of the story which is the intro, I think it says a lot about their characters.

I have about three times as many unfinished stories as I do finished/submitted ones.

I have 3x as many that are just sitting on the comp, finished, but doing nothing.

Then I have another 6 or 8 unfinished.

Add in the dozen ideas in My head that go nowhere.

That's why I carry a little notebook with me everywhere I go...jot down brief notes to trigger what little memory I have into recognition...

It is hard to let go of a story. I tried to write something with my SO once, but then I found that I didn't want to share.
