In The Danger Room War Room
“Hellion! We miscalculated! It’s Vulcan! The House of M was beaten by Vulcan!”
The voice of Cyclops yelling into the communicator was deafening in the War Room. Julian rose to his feet and began to act, more on instinct than anything else.
Frantically, he began opening files on the screen regarding Vulcan, the House of M, and anything else that could be useful in figuring out how to best help the team. He scanned the profile that had been compiled on Vulcan over the years. He was a powerful mutant, more powerful than anything Julian had seen before. What could stop him?
Julian thought about what Beast had said. Beast almost always had a hidden meaning in his communications, and Julian had never been very good at figuring them out.
Vulcan had the power to keep the transmission from being sent, but why would he let it escape. The answer was simple.
It had been a trap. Vulcan had lured them there much like Krakoa had lured the senior X-Men years ago. The living island had allowed one mutant, Cyclops, out in order to lure others there for it to feed on, and Julian wondered if Vulcan had done the same. Only this time a transmission was the bait.
Every fiber in him wanted to go and join them, to fight the good fight and help defeat the powerful mutant, but he knew that his powers would only be turned against him and his team. He looked for other options and found few. He knew the communicator channel was open.
“Cyclops, what can we do to help?”
Julian knew that they couldn’t get there in time to help the trio facing Vulcan. He hung his head and waited for the response.
