Hellion Reacts
(100,100)
Hellion stepped forward and stood a few feet behind and to the side of Cyclops as he began to try and talk the other mutant down from his murderous intentions. Hellion listened, but began to scan the area for things he could use. The trees were the most obvious choice as weapons. Some of the older trees could weight up to 200 tons, but a smaller tree, maybe 30 feet in height, was more manageable. He had pulled trees that size out at the mansion in training and knew they weighed close to 20 tons. Fully loaded garbage trucks weighed in at 20 tons too, and made a hell of a lot better weapon, but there were none in sight. The farmers had even been so kind as to put away all their equipment and tools too.
Cyclops continued to talk to this mutant who seemed bent on killing them all. Hellion knew him from his studies and recognized him from his glowing yellow eye. X-Man. A powerful mutant, one even that Professor Xavier feared. Hopefully Cyclops could talk him down, or at least distract him to the point he let his guard down.
Out of the corner of his eye, Hellion saw Wolverine and Skoll unsheathe their claws and tense their muscles in anticipation of the attack. And Nocturne was wandering as well, perhaps to get a clear line of sight for an attack. Hellion also heard Warfly behind him, the light buzz from his wings barely audible over the conversation going on in front of him.
He focused in on a nice Maple tree about 20 yards behind X-Man. It’s 35 foot height stood calmly in the afternoon air. Hellion was planning on ripping it out of the ground and bringing it up at high speed behind X-Man while he was distracted by Cyclops and drive him into the jaws of Wolverine and Skoll. The leaves rustled slightly as the ground protested against the telekinetic force. Just a few more seconds and it would be free and ready to use…
“Hellion! Move! He’s forcing me to…”
Feron’s voice broke his concentration. He turned his head to see what his friend was yelling about and shot skyward just as the energy bolts left Feron’s hands. The crackle of the air as it was superheated was distinct in Hellion’s ears. The main bolt passed harmlessly under him, but on of the arms snaked through the sky and caught up with him twenty feet above the now broken ground.
He didn’t have time to react, to put up an energy shield as the electricity coursed through his body. His scream was cut short as his muscles convulsed violently under the shock and clamped his mouth shut and drove the air from his body. He hung motionless in the air for a second before gravity overcame his upward momentum. He fell back to the earth, bouncing roughly off the once packed ground. He was more stunned than injured as he caught his breath, but he stared up at X-Man. A dark feeling gripped his stomach as he began to rise, knowing he was vulnerable until he could focus again and help his team.
