"They Hate America"

Yes, there is hate--lots of hate from those suffering from the random and egoistic actions of a country that quickly needs to become great (again)--but I think most of the american allies only pity you, for the stupidity that comes together with the uSA-arrogance.

They pity us until the shit hits the fan, then, they run and hide behind us. It's more about envy than pity. France is in turmoil, UK can't organize a government, Germany kissing Putin's ass, Italy is insolvent, NK with Nukes, China's global ambitions, NATO countries not pulling their fair share, Ukraine ( where's the EU? ), Spain is bankrupt. Iran is about to implode, Russia taking hold in ME, time for someone else to bring peace, spend their treasure and blood. I think you have it wrong, we pity them. France chastising us for pulling out of the ME is outright laughable and ludicrous, send your own armies overthere..

We did send our armies there to die and spend a lot of our military budget to support US forces. What thanks do we get for adding names to our war memorials - nothing.

What thanks do we get for ours? Looked down at.

Even when it's some shit going on in your own back yards as shown in the late 90's. And what did we get for that? We're just a bunch of dumb ass knuckle dragging, fat, loud and uneducated Americans.....of course.

RubenR is a fantastic example of a European.

But he'll be the first one to look at the USA and say "WHUDDYA GONNA DO!! NATO!!! NATO!!! SAVE US!!" when shit gets ugly.

Which is exactly why the USA should leave NATO and a number off bases/ports asap....and let Putin know we're hands off.

Take my statement in full context. I was responding to Ruben's comment we're a laughing stock of the world and our allies. Having lost several friends in wars I hold "in the highest reverence" those who lost loved ones fighting side by side with us. Today, there is an undercurrent that America is a joke, and to those I say fuck off! you fight your own wars from now on. Getting countries to help keep the straits of Hormuz open for navigation was like pulling teeth. Freedom is something that has to be defended everyday and some countries are happy to sit back and watch us do the all heavy lifting. I do believe UK, Greece, Estonia, Poland and France at 1.78 are paying their fair share in defense, Germany, the richest, gives the least. On Memorial day Americans mourn for all countries that lost loved ones. To those who fought side by side with us had, for the most part, a vested interest in their own defense. Countries hate Trump because he calls it as he sees it, I don't think they're laughing as much as being made aware that the free ride is over.

We/they may envy the uS for the opportunities they have; not for the way they deal with them. That's the sad story.

The sad story is that certain countries see America through the lens of Trump, "Orange man bad" which isn't always a bad thing. Germany paying the least share of its defense responsibilities and is sucking up to the Russians for a gas pipeline and forming a dependency on Russian energy . Turkey buying Russian missiles which could jeopardize the J35 stealth technology WTF? Just to name a few. Engaging with Iran rather than standing with us, hiding behind a worthless nuclear deal that doesn't take the inspection to where they are needed most their "military facilities" all for sake of padding their economies ( the leading sponsor of terror ).

The Royal Navy is in the Strait of Hormuz.

I hope, but don't expect, that Americans realize that their attitude to the UK's military support of America is fuelling support to the campaign of Jeremy Corbyn who is NO friend of America. He would scrap our nuclear deterrent largely bought from US suppliers, run down our armed forces and never go to war beside US forces. Corbyn has frequently shown support to the US's enemies. If he is elected the UK would be likely to reduce our military spending significantly.

I don't believe that for one minute. Britain, in the eyes of the American people, is our staunches ally and I'm sure will stay that way. Trump wants big trade deals with you guys as soon as that Brexit debacle is over. In my opinion the UK would be better served getting out of the EU. In my opinion we should dismantle the WTO and the world bank and ship the UN to Pakistan. What took so long?. From what I understand your parliament doesn't do the bidding for your people.

If a Labour government is elected we will be given a choice - stay in the EU or accept a Labour version of Brexit which will keep us tied to the EU.

As for supporting America? Corbyn supports the PLO and Venezuala and allows anti-semites. He has said he would NEVER use our nuclear deterrent and cannot envisage supporting ANY war whatever.

There will be no Brexit.....Britain is just another EU colony.

So not Brexit.

Like I said, your elites have decided against democracy and you'll remain a colony of the EU.

Does anyone in the UK trust President Trump to deliver a fair trade deal with the UK?

Not that many people in the UK trust any of our politicians at all.

Not many people trust in the USA your politicians either.:)

That is why we put Impeachment in our constitution, so we can throw the bastards out if they prove to be fools!:D

Fools? Impeachment doesn't recognise that as a suitable reason.

No but doing foolish things like Extortion and bribery are, also obstruction of justice and just general fuckery.

If the UK accepts fools like Boris, I can't help you.

Good Luck with that.:)

KeithD writes: "Impeachment recognizes anything the impeachers decide it does. Clinton was impeached for a voluntary blow job by an adult woman."

Actually, Keith, President Clinton was under investigation for multiple accounts of sexual harrassment being looked into by his own justice department, dating back to his days as Governor of Arkansas. It was during that investigation that the president lied under oath (e.g. committed perjury) in an effort to OBSTRUCT the investigation! That led to his impeachment by the House, but then Democrats in the U.S. Senate argued that it wasn't quite enough to remove him from office (also, NOBODY was very anxious to see Al Gore in the White House!) Today's #Me,Too movement would have never tolerated Bill's "Harvey Weinstein-like" behavior!

But yes, the House can impeach ANY president for any innocuous reason it chooses to do so! Adam Schiff was already planning on impeaching President Trump as soon as the Mueller investigation was concluded, but when that whole thing fell flat he decided to go after Trump instead for his phone call to the president of the Ukraine. The problem Schiff has is that the U.S. Senate will end-up VINDICATING this president, with the resulting backlash helping Trump get re-elected and very possibly costing Nancy Pelosi her speakership!

As well they shouldn't.

No but it wouldn't be hard to beat what the EU is offering which is a big ol' butt fuck.

Impeachment recognizes anything the impeachers decide it does. Clinton was impeached for a voluntary blow job by an adult woman.

No Clinton was not, why must you lie about absolutely everything SR71Poser??

Thank you.

I will take you up on one of your points. You mention taking on some of the worlds most complex problems and finding its a thankless task, damned if you do and damned if you don't.
I'm sure the various Ceasars over the centuries of the Roman Empire, the kings of Spain and Portugal and the parliament of Great Britain all thought the same. Not even you yanks are able to learn from history.
And I'm not convinced that as a country you're done with it because if the Russians or the Chinese, the Indonesians or even the Aussies decided that they will just come to the aid of whatever little conflict gets attention in the future you yanks will be back in the game quick as a flash because you won't be able to cope with someone else getting the upper hand. It's the nature of power.
Every great power falls, some like the Romans last a 1000 years some like the USA last 100. But they all fall. It's not personal it's history.

If they didn't have their virulent hatred for President Trump, the House Democrats would CEASE to have any emotions whatsoever! It's what they live for!

And what lands did the U.S. empire acquire after saving western Europe in World War I? We lost over 100,000 men in a conflict that really didn't concern us, and what lands did we receive in return? Answer: we received NOTHING!

And then there was World War II - and AGAIN we came to the aid of Great Britain and her allies (including New Zealand), playing another major/pivotal role in defeating Nazi Germany & Imperial Japan, this time suffering over 400,000 casualties! And what additional lands did we acquire from our role in winning that war & saving western civilization from tyranny? Answer: we received NOTHING!

And then, in the aftermath of the Second World War, with Europe prostrate and vulnerable to absorption into the Soviet orbit, we spent an additional $12-billion with the Marshall Plan to rebuild western Europe and Greece, saving that part of the world from Communist domination (and from further suffering). As empires go, I'd say that was pretty selfless of us!

Well, there is a difference between humanitarian cause and conquering an empire. Our intentions were never world domination, as yanks we did learned early on as a nation and created a constitution to keep our government in check and not venture into world domination.

To be fair, the USA isn't alone in this boat. The UK, Australia, Philippines, Brazil...xenophobia is in style right now.

Hate... It's the motivating emotion of The Left...in all its forms.

You can talk to me about that when you've stopped cheerleading for Ruth Bader Ginsburg to die. Not one minute before then.

Why is it the left conflate’s nationalism and respect for a nation’s border with xenophobia.
