It was a typical afternoon for Tory Carter. A Friday afternoon to be precise. She loved Fridays. But today, she loved Friday even more. Tonight, Tory and her husband were going to have a 4 day weekend together. Nothing else. Just the two of them needing some much needed time alone together.

Especially after the rough times they had together recently. Tory was caught cheating...nearly wrecking her marriage to a great man..

Now, just as she was about to straighten up her office, her phone went off...

For some reason, Tory had a feeling something wasn't right...she looked at her phone and fear struck her....

*****
Midnight and Tory was sitting at her husband's side. He had been shot.

He was lucky they said. What was lucky about a gun shot to the head?

It wasn't to the head, it grazed his temple. That was it. But the shock and other complications caused him to be knocked out...lose a lot of blood...

The doctors weren't sure about his memory because of the few times he regained consciousness, he wasn't aware of who he was or what had happened...

She was just waiting for him to wake up, she refused to leave his side... would her husband remember her? What was going to happen next?

Billy Carter walked out of his office excited about the upcoming weekend. Billy and Tory had been planning this for a while, and he was really looking forward to it. He turned the corner, and .......

He woke up in a hospital room, but only momentarily. This happened several times. Then he awakened, sat up, and looked around. Nothing looked familiar. He couldn't get his bearings. Who were the people around him? Who was the hot woman sitting next to his bed?

He had no idea what was going on. Someone asked him his name. It was a question he couldn't answer. He continued to look around.. looking for something that was familiar... looking for something to help him make sense of what was going on.

Tory heard the nurse call out Billy's name. She sat up abruptly and saw that Billy was awake. She did her best to hold back jumping into his arms and also crying from happiness.

She had never been so relieved in her life. Wiping a few stray tears away, Tory gave Billy a small smile, "Hey there..." The nurse was going to say something but with a look, Tory shooed her out of the room.

"Billy..." she started quietly as she took his hand into hers, "Welcome back... do you know who I am?"

He felt the woman take his hand, and looked at her. She was beautiful, and she was calling him Billy. That must be his name. She asked if he knew who she was, and he figured he probably should, but the truth was that he didn't.

He stared at her... looking into her beautiful eyes. "No, I don't. Who are you? Do I know you? I don't know anything. Help me please."

"OK, we're going to fix this OK? First off, my name is Victoria, and we've married for over 5 years...remember?" She said, hoping it would trigger some sort of memory for him.

This couldn't be happening. This wasn't happening...what happened? How did this all happen? Why was the door to his hospital room guarded so damn heavily?

Hold yourself together Tory! She scolded herself mentally. This had to be nothing. It was just one of those things that happened...

"Hey, it's going to be OK, we're going to fix this, alright?" She told him with assurance in her voice...at least she hoped that there was some there. "Do you remember anything Billy? Anything at all?"

He was thinking as she spoke..... Victoria... nope... nothing. Married for five years.... still nothing..... but damn, he thought, he was married to her. He had to be the luckiest guy on the planet. She was incredibly hot.

He looked around. It looked like this woman... Victoria.... his wife ... was panicking a little. What the hell was going on? What had happened? He was starting to freak out a little... his heart started racing.

Tory heard and then saw the heart monitor as it beeped faster. She took a deep breath and looked at Billy, "Baby, please...it's going to be alright, got it? This is just a little set back of ours..." she saw from the look in his eyes that he didn't remember her...

Damn.

She relaxed her posture and rested her elbows on the bed beside him. With a gentle move, she brought his hand to her lips and give it a light kiss, "Let's give it some time OK? I think it's best if you just rest...unless, of course, you have anything to ask me about...?"

He looked at the woman beside his bed. He wanted to remember.... He had to remember. "I have so many questions. I don't know where to begin though. I don't even know who the hell I am."

He looked at her. The look was a plea. He wanted her help. He needed her help. The fact that she was here told him that she cared about him. "Please tell me... eh, Victoria, right? What happened to me? Why am I like this?"

"OK, listen, I'll explain..." Tory quickly tossed a look to the door of the room and saw it was still closed. She then looked at Billy and smiled, as to reassure him, "You're name is Billy Carter, William to be exact. You're CEO of Carter Enterprises, I can't say exactly how it happened but you were leaving the office when someone tried to kill you.." her voice shook when she said that. It was hard enough to hear it but when she had to repeat it for him to hear, it was even harder to know that someone wanted her husband dead.

"Billy, it's very important that you trust me, OK?" She asked, her hand gently squeezing his, "I won't lie to you. Whatever you ask me, my answer will always be the truth." She scooted closer to him, "Can you tell me what today is? Perhaps the year?"

He looked at her and listened to her intently as she told him who he was and what had happened to him. CEO, he thought.... he was a CEO? What was his business, he wondered?

"Day? Year? I have no idea. Someone tried to kill me? Why? Why would someone try to kill me? Did I hurt someone? Did I give someone a reason to do this to me? TELL ME. Tell Me, please Victoria."

Tory could see that she was doing more harm than good. It was hard to see Billy in this manner, it really was. She took a deep breath and shook her head, "Someone had a reason Billy, how they got so close I'm not sure. You were under protection but I don't know how they got to you but I promise I will find out. Listen," she said, rushing as she heard some commotion behind her, "Calm down, please? I will tell you more later, but first we need to play as if I haven't said anything but I'm you're wife...remember, trust me OK?"

Before Tory could say more, the doors burst open and suddenly they were surrounded by a medical team, questioning Billy, asking him questions, then waiting for his answers. Of course he did good for Tory and didn't mention anything other than knowing she was his wife. Suddenly, they deemed it necessary that he needed to rest and that Tory should leave too, but of course, she refused.

When everyone left, she sighed in relief, "Rest, do as they say, alright? Until we're safe, I'll tell you more...please Billy?"

The rush of information.... Tory telling him to not mention anything she told him.... all of the members of the medical team asking him question after question..... left Billy exhausted and even more frustrated. He listened to Victoria arguing with members of the medical team who were trying to get her to leave. Then there was a doctor telling Billy he needed to rest.

When everyone left he looked at Victoria as she told him to relax. She kept telling him things would be ok.. and to trust her. He started to wonder if she was trying to get one over on him..... trying to deceive him. He didn't say anything... he laid back in the bed and closed his eyes. He hoped that things would come to him in his sleep, but the only thing he could think about was why someone would have tried to kill him.

It was during the nearing of morning that Tory gently started to wake Billy up. It took longer than she had anticipated but soon, he groggily opened his eyes. She had some clothes for him on the chair beside the bed, "Billy...wake up honey...we need to get going, OK?"

She set his clothes on the bed and quickly unhooked all the monitors. The only thing she had to leave in for now was the IV needle...that she would take out later when they had more time.

"Remember, trust me...we need to get out of here now."

Billy's sleep was filled with flashes of images. Nothing was consistent..... people.... arguments..... sounds of gunshots...... flashes of Victoria. He heard her voice and then suddenly he felt her shaking her. He opened his eyes and looked at the beautiful woman who called herself his wife. He looked at her quizzically... trying to figure out what she was saying... what she wanted him to do.

Victoria disconnected the monitors and urged him to move faster. He swung his legs off the bed, but he was wearing just a hospital gown and had nothing on his feet. He looked to Victoria for guidance. What was he supposed to do now? How were they going to get out?

"Please love, trust me, alright?" She saw him hesitate... she couldn't do hesitating right now, they needed to get out of here now!

She held in a curse and reminded herself that this wasn't the confident Billy she was married to...she needed to help get dress but most importantly, she needed to help him remember. "Let me help.." she saw the confusion in his eyes and gave him a reassuring smile.

Soon he was dressed...now it was time to make their move, "Wait here.." she told him and went outside to talk to the guard. This was why Tory needed to move right now, there was only one guard on duty tonight. She told the guard to go get a nurse because the call button wasn't working...

Once he was out of sight, Tory grabbed Billy by the arm, "Come on baby, we need to go now, no more hesitation OK?"

Billy allowed Victoria to help him get dressed. He watched her go out and say something to the guard. He wasn't sure why, but he trusted her. There was no reason for him to do so, but he did.

He finished dressing, and when she came back in and told him they needed to leave right away, he followed her lead. He was unsteady on his feet and needed to rely on Victoria to help him.

Soon they reached the elevator. It would've been safer to take the stairs but she knew that Billy was still weak, as he was using Tory to lean against.

Tory kept an eye out, she was on guard, making sure they weren't being followed.

When they reached the parking garage, Tory knew that they would know what she was driving. She led Billy to a random vehicle and leaned him against it, "Just stay right here, if you see someone coming, tell me.."

In almost no time, Tory had jimmied the door open to the SUV and quickly had it started. She opened the passenger side door and helped him in...before he could ask anything, they were out of the parking lot just as the sun was coming up over the horizon...

He was extremely exhausted just from walking to the parking garage from the hospital. When Victoria opened the door to let him in, he climbed in and collapsed back into the seat. He watched as Victoria drove out of the parking garage at a high rate of speed.

He had so many questions. He had no idea what was going on. Why did they sneak out of the hospital? "Victoria, you need to tell me what is going on. Why did we have to leave the hospital? WHy did we sneak out? Are we criminals? Am I?

"I wish...criminals have it so easy..." Tory muttered under her breath. "I need you to rest Billy, please? I will tell you everything once we get to where we need to go..."

In her mind, Tory was trying to figure out the best way to tell Billy everything without him blotching everything they had worked for. If this set back injury was only minor, then sure, everything would be alright but if not...

He sat back in the seat and closed his eyes, but the flashes started coming at him again.... gunshots.... EMTs bending over him asking him questions.... police officers asking who did this..... Victoria asking if he remembered her.

His eyes shot open. He did not want the dark images. He wanted to remember who he was. "I trust you Victoria. I have to be honest and tell you that I am not sure why, but I do trust you." He looked over at her as she drove. Then, he closed his eyes once again.

How long she had been driving, Tory wasn't sure but luckily, there was a full tank of gas and she only had to stop once to fill up. Billy slept most of the time which was good because Tory needed to think. She needed to get her head together and think this all through.

When she couldn't drive anymore, she pulled into a motel and got a room. She paid cash for everything. No sense in alerting anyone to where they were.

Tory opened the door and gently shook Billy awake, "Hey baby, wake up..."

Billy's sleep was restless.... there were still the startling images flashing through his mind. Maybe this was the brain's way of trying to get him to remember.

He heard Victoria calling for him to wake up. He felt her hand on his shoulder .... shaking him lightly. He opened his eyes and looked around. They were in a parking lot. Where were they? He looked for clues. He saw some neon lights, and then he realized they were at a hotel. He got out of the car and followed Victoria to a room... closing the door behind them.

He walked over and sat on the bed. "Where are we Victoria? Where are we going? What are we doing?"

"Are you hungry?" She asked him as she flipped through the phone book at the local delivery places around.

"Where are we Victoria? Where are we going? What are we doing?"

Tory heard Billy. The only thing was she didn't want to answer his questions even though she had said she would... When he asked the questions again, Tory sighed and went over to the bed and knelt beside Billy.

"Well, we're in a shabby motel and on our way to New York City...as for what we are doing and why we are doing this... that's kind of tough to explain but.." she said, reassuring him with a smile, "I will tell you..."

"There are some people after you for something you saw a few months ago...we had thought everything was alright but after yesterday..." Tory shuddered and closed her eyes, trying to keep her voice steady, "It's not alright...you saw something at the labs and although you weren't specific to me about it, you were suspicious that something was going to happen and then, something did happen...this.." she ran her fingers lightly along the bandage on his head, "You told me that if anything were to happen, we were to go to New York and from there, we would get help, so...to make a long story short, that's where we're headed."

Billy looked into Victoria's eyes as she told him the story. None of what she said to him made sense. He had no clue about what was going on..... what he saw.... he didn't even know what she meant by the labs.

"Ok Victoria. I have trusted you this far. I am going to trust you all the way. I don't remember any of this, but off to New York we go. If I can get enough rest I will get stronger and I will help you in any way possible. I hope that going to New York will help me gain back my memory."

Me too... thought Tory as she rubbed Billy's arm for reassurance.

"So, are you hungry? I'm going to call for something to be delivered but I want you to rest OK?" She saw the IV needle still in his arm, "Shit...let me take that out.." Tory went into the bathroom and came back out with some tissue and a wet cloth... She knelt down on the floor next to the bed Billy was on, "Let me see your arm..."

Carefully she removed the needle and cleaned up his arm, "We don't have any band aides but this will have to do.." she placed the tissue on his arm where the needle was and then folded up his arm as one would do after giving blood, "So, what do you want...you have a choice between pizza, burgers or chicken."
