That old lady who obviously hasn't changed her diaper standing there in the front of the line spending 5 minutes writing out a damn check for a 34 cent Butterfinger®

ps I work as a checker at a Fred Meyers

My heart goes out to this old lady-some day I'll be in her shoes and hope that others will have a little bit of patience for me.

had to revive this thread because...

this morning i heard a bit of an infomercial on tv. it was for the "eat more, exercise less" diet.

the sad thing is that if you manipulate the meanings of these phrases the right way, it's a legitimate claim. clearly, however, they're making their money from the people who take it literally.

I bet you're not a big fan of the "Extra Super Powerful Fat Melting, Energy Boosting Pills" either, huh?

All of that shit makes me  and angry because they're both deceptive and can be seriously dangerous.

I love these Cortisol blocking pills that I see everywhere. "Stress produces Cortisol and that makes you fat!"

Intersting, when I was dealing iwth a high stress project and started having dizzy spells, I was told my problem was that my adrenal glands weren't keeping up because I wasn't producing enough Cortisol to regulate my blood pressure. I was actually put on a supplement to INCREASE my Cortisol output. So I ask you, if a lack of Cortisol made me get dizzy and have vertigo, how health of a diet plan can this be?

False advertising always causes my eyes to roll.

This evening I was driving on a turnpike and so the options for finding a meal were limited. I turned off into one of service-and-food areas run by the turnpike authority after seeing a sign that promised "Fuel and Restaurants." Yeah, right! My choices for eating at this glorified gas station were two establishments: Burger King and Popeye's. No restaurants in sight.

Second, the place that I did patronize for my calories sold me a "Spicy" fish sandwich. Uh huh. I've eaten slices of bread that had more zip.

that jackass that insists on posting that white supremist bullshit every few days. take the fucking hint you moron.

I wonder if I might know where you were. I remember seeing a lot of those service plazas with golden arches or maniacal monarchs with huge heads.

False advertising in apartment ads: Easy street parking!

Big liars. There's no such thing in the city.

Being given the finger by another driver when I tapped my horn to let her know I was next to her as she started to swerve into my lane.

Same part of the country but a different state. And to think, if I had just turned off at the correct exit I could have had a lobster roll instead.

Watching "adult" siblings squabble like children (and sabotage Mother's Day cards and presents, no less) over the care of their 99-year-old mother.

If it were my family, I'd be posting in WPMO. Since these people (thankfully) aren't related to me, all I can do is

Reading about Britney Spears in the newspaper--not the tabloids, the newspaper. Seems she's banished Kevin to the basement.

Am I supposed to give a flying fuck?

i gotta confess, i do think spears is good looking. no, that doesn't excuse shit.

[sighs]

[rolls eyes at self]

i think she used to be but my personal opinion is that the cigs and who knows what else have taken a toll... and it's only going to get worse i'm afraid.

IMO, jessica simpson is the best looking of the talentless, doe-eyed pop stars.

yeah, i gotta back you on that one. i just wish that some measurable fraction of the substance in her bust made it into her brain...

wait a sec, no i don't. i already married a smart woman. :>

I seem to remember that there was a thread here once that tried to define a "flying fuck."

Your flying bias is showing, my friend. In fact, the use of "flying" in this instance actually serves to diminish the value of the fuck and I doubt that that usage would meet with your approval.
