seems to me (based on another thread) you've done a few of your own "marathons" in the past
Yes, but I didn't have to run and the journey was even more enjoyable than the destination. ;)

I don't get people sometimes. I've complained/commented about this before, but some of the members of the country club across the road from us are pretty damn clueless.

Our neighbor is getting ready to build a new house next to the property he currently owns (it's for sale because he and his wife have divorced). He put in a temporary gravel driveway so he'd have easy vehicle/heavy equipment access to the lot. Ever since then, he's had problems with country-club members and golf-ball hunters parking in his new driveway. The "No Parking" and "No Trespassing" signs haven't been much of a deterrent.

A recent exchange with a golfer went something like this:

Neighbor: You can't park in my driveway.

Golfer: I'm just going to go hit some golf balls.

Neighbor: That's fine, but you can't park here.

Golfer: I won't be there long. I'm just going to hit some golf balls.

Neighbor: No, you don't understand. This is private property. I own it, and I'm telling you that you can't park here. Now get the fuck off my property before I drag your car into the ravine!

I've noticed a little something about people that seems to be an ever increasing problem.

For the most part people are self important all they care about is / are themselves and to hell with anyone they inconveinance. Signs? Hell the law doesn't apply to them because they are whats important.

You fall down in front of someone and they will walk over you because it's not conveinant for them to walk around you and how dare you get in their way in the first place.

Sad commentary on todays society but it's the truth.

We've had country club members block the road by parking their cars on it, and it's a narrow, dead-end road. I saw a guy piss next to a pine tree on the second tee. Golfers drive their carts onto my neighbor's lawn.

Enough with the overblown sense of entitlement already! It's not like it's a prestigious country club or anything. We live in Appalachia, for God's sake!

I know that not all the members are like that. Hell, my husband was once a member! And, in the club's defense, they will take action if they get complaints from people who live nearby.

as they drove off they tossed the used diaper out the window.
Well, you can't expect them to drive home with that THING in the car, can you?

I hate seeing dirty diapers in places where they don't belong. Several years ago, my grandparents were eating at a restaurant when the woman in the booth across from them started changing her baby's diaper at the table. Then they left it in the booth.

My neighbour will mow his lawn three times on the same day, and somedays gets out his weed whacker and flashlight at two in the morning.

But if I ever try to mow my lawn or do something outside that makes a bit of noise at a time that inconveinances him he will call the police and complain to as many civil servants as he possibly can.

Funny thing is he bitches if I'm a little behind mowing my lawn so I guess I'm supposed to ask him to write me out a schedule of acceptable times for him.

Try a 15 foot high electrified fence, see them do that then. :nana:

They don't look real  At first I thought why would someone have a beauty pageant for porcelain dolls and then I realized those were supposed to be real kids. Poor things..
I think it would actually be less disturbing if it was a contest for dolls, at least you could say that the people entering their dolls are not harming anyone, but wtf does this do to a childs  mind.

Most of them have been photoshopped or something to look like dolls. Still, they were pics of real kids at one time. Disgusting. How can parents do that to their kids?

Just received a client's employee policies and procedures book by email - three PDF files totalling 775 pages!

holy crap! how many megs?

The beauty of PDF files is that they are tiny. The three volumes add up to less than 10 megs of data.

do the procedures include descriptions/methods of critical tasks or is is mostly related to being an employee (and thus a bunch of legal mumbo jumbo that noboby ever reads)? (not sure where to put the ? punctuation here....someone help me out )

I have only opened the files to determine that they are complete. Later today I'll be printing a few pertinent sections to take with me next week when I go to SF to work with them for a couple of days. I've seen employee manuals that contained plenty of that "legal mumbo jumbo" that you mentioned (where's DLL when you need a professional to give you the prcise wording?) and they've been far shorter. It will be interesting and informative to see what makes this such a bulky document.

BTW, the "?" belongs outside the last parenthesis as you did it here.

The oher morning at just about the time I noticed our phone wasn't working I saw a phone service truck pull in next door so I went over to see what had caused the problem and to ask how long they might be out. The repair guy looked at me like he didn't know what I as talking about so again, I explained the phone in my house was not working and I figured he was there to fix the lines... He told me all he knew was that the cell tower was out and cell phone service in our area was not working and he was there to restore the cell service was his reason for being called out.
I asked if he had any ideas about what needed to happen to get my home phone back in service again and his only suggestion was that I go home, call the company and let them know my phone wasn't working and it needed to be fixed in order to restore the phone service to my house so my phone would work again.

it was so hot today the air conditioner even came on after i'd flipped the switch to "off."
