This I know to be true.

Whether you see the glass as half full or half empty… don’t you still want it fuckin’ full?

This I know to be true.

So I’ve been writing these lil four line poems that end with a “true” statement… then @StillRain created this lovely thread (thank you!), and now I have a place to put them.

Hope y’all don’t mind, and if you do… well… I’m generally a harmless flake… pay no attention. 🤪

In four lines… can a Truth be told
that rhyme and meter such?
“Your reach is only near as bold…
as it is fearing touch.”

This I know to be true.

In two lines… can a Truth be told
that rhymed and metered such?
“That you are only and as old
as heart remaining much.”

This I know to be true.

This I know to be true,

The louder that PR is screamed, and the more voices reciting it, the more desperately it's needed.

In two lines… can a Truth so squirm
in rhymed and metered words?
“If wriggle through this life as worm,
be wary of the birds.”

This I know to be true.

In two lines… can a Truth be told
that rhymed and metered such?
“In them thar hills, there is some gold,
but you’ll need dirtied much.”

This I know to be true.

My problem is that affection blinds me to certain things because I want to see the best in people. Most people do present the best version of themselves upfront and its easy to get stuck in a trap where you see possibility. Anyone else?

I think love doesnt need to be uncontitional, but if someone has your best intrests at heart you dont need to worry about those conditions.

In two lines… can a Truth be balled
as rhymed and metered that?
“A dog will simper, come when called…
but pussy is the cat?!”

This I know to be true.

My bestie said to me tonight “resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.”

This I know to be true.
In that case, better not let yourself sink into resentment for fear of succumbing to a poisonous death before the satisfaction of the other person’s end.

This I know to be “mostly” true! 😝

My bestie said to me tonight “resentment is like drinking poison and waiting for the other person to die.”

This I know to be true.
This is similar to something I also heard
"Pain is like carbon monoxide. Expressing it to the person who hurt you is like opening a vent. but, holding it will poison you."
