Thoughts on the word cunt

I'll have to go back and read the discussion.

I've been hearing a lot lately that 'cunt' has a friendly banter meaning in the UK and some other English language places. In the states where I grew up it has solely one exact meaning: a crude term for female genitals. So using it is almost always derogatory, with about the only exception being the 'heightened roleplay during sex / foreplay'. You'd really never use it in a friendly way with someone you were not sexually active with.

Of course we're now in the era where the US is not only no longer a cultural trend setter for the world, true for some decades now, but also culturally and morally repugnant to most of the world. So I don't expect anyone to take linguistic influence from us anymore.

But I do wonder if 'cunt' just has a completely different meaning in the rest of the world, like is it a reference to microwave popcorn or something? ;)

Cunt is a powerful word, which is why so many people are afraid of it.

Here in Oz it's mostly interchangeable with pussy. I use both as the mood shifts from soft to hard in a story. All of the women in my stories will eventually refer to their cunt, and more power to them.

It’s a big, maybe biggest curse over here in the U.K. probably best avoided in polite conversation. But I use it describe rude men

It’s a great word but context is everything when using it - Anglo Saxon or older, I believe. My preference for its application in erotic situations. Interesting how it’s an insult in most places, but in Australia it’s largely a term of endearment.

I agree, context. The US definitely has an aversion and it is always thought of as demeaning and worse. In the bedroom, I have discovered that it can be arousing for some women, usually after we are both at the point of extasy and maximum desire...lots of foreplay...:)

Still surprised when I hear it on American TV shows. It still somehow lacks the punch that it packs when uttered in a British accent, preferably the flat northern tones of Nottinghamshire and above ref. more recent versions of Lady Chatterley’s Lover.

Ich mag es sehr, wenn meine Herrin mich selbst als Fotze bezeichnet, bin ich deswegen weniger wert? Nein, eben nicht, denn ich stehe dazu.

Hi all,

I just got a comment that berated my use of the word cunt and because of it rated my story a 1. While I don’t normally care what people comment, I found it strange that someone would give a story a 1 star because they didn’t like that I incorporated the word cunt.

What do you think about using cunt in your stories?
I use it in my writing. Hell, I use it in my everyday vernacular.

Especially in erotica it's a great word.

I've got my prefereces for describing genitalia. Almost without exception it's cock, breasts, tits, pussy and cunt. As there's more impact to the last word, I use it sparingly, but I feel when I do use it, it's done appropriately for the circumstance, and its' always during a sexual act. It's never used in conversation (that I can recall).

When I do roleplay, even my female writing partners use the word on occasion.

I must say, that in all my years, I referred to my wife's pussy as a 'cunt,' only once. She was severely upset with my use of that word and told me to never use it again. Fast forward 50+ years, while I am reading her back and forth messages on FB, with an old B/F of hers, where he writes that his cock is going to stretch out her cunt lips, she can't wait for it to happen. (Just to be clear, I was reading these messages with her permission.) I brought this to her attention, and she just shrugged it off. Apparently he has the equipment to deliver his promise. It's also the difference in what a B/F can get away with and a husband.

Personally I love cunt.

And I think the word is appropriate too, BUT only in certain circumstances.
Vagina is so... Medical.
Hole requires context.
Pussy is... Soft. A delicate retiring flower.

But cunt...

Cunt is tough. Cunt has attitude. A cunt can take a pounding and give back as good as it gets. Cunt is strong. Cunt is aggressive.

Cunt is awesome.

I suppose it could be because in a British accent, the pronunciation involves a hardish 'Kh' instead of 'K', which makes it slightly more throaty and gutteral, which in turn makes it more aggressive and primal.

Preach it, brother!

Best usage of the word I have ever heard was on the Sopranos, when Pauley said someone was being "cunty". I paused the show and thought, did I really just hear that. I played it back and almost died laughing.

Im truly surprised all you cunts are still discussing this topic after all this time... 😉
