To those who know me~ I am now almost a Republican

OK so I fell for the dems. BS for a while, or maybe just hated GW so much I got brain dead, who knows- maybe I was jealous of Monica but I got to say for the first time since Bush 1 ran I voted almost straight republican.
What is the world coming to?

You're the first person I've seen here with the courage and intellectual honesty to admit you made a mistake voting for Obama. Congrats on crossing over from the dark side.

:D

I also voted for Obama and admit now that it was a huge mistake. Not that McCain was the right choice, but I too was so anti-GW that I allowed it to convince me that I was a Democrat, or left leaning enough to vote Obama.

I now consider myself somewhere in the middle and much more educated on all things political, which has made me realize the error of my ways in voting for him. Oh well...two more years...

She's got more brains, more integrity, and more balls, than all of the left wing males on the GB.

Pigs will fly before people like UD, Oreo, and TrooverHoover admit their mistake. I omitted Throb from the list. He isn't a people.

Tsk, always with the personal attacks. I'll pray for your daughters. :)

Well my health ins. doubled, the 'death tax' thing property tax to name a few

My health insurance went way up too.

That has nothing to do with the new Health Care plan. Why would adding 40 million new paying customers to the Health Insurance Company rolls add to your costs?

Health costs rise in part because the CEO's of these companies and upper level executives make anywhere from 5 to 25 million a year, or 100, to 500,000 dollars.....a WEEK.

But if you want to believe that providing them 40 million new paying members by law makes your cost go up? Please do so.

My old policy didn't fit the new health guidelines.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm almost a Republican, but I sure as hell am distancing myself from being a Democrat. These last two years have cured me of that.

This, indeed is a most amazing post, if it is not a sucker post...

I'll have to read more.

Interesting...

Mr. Wizard,

You know those "40 million new paying customers" (well, customers who are paid for by others) aren't actually on the rolls yet? And won't be for three+ years? (And there won't really be 40 million of them, any more than all people who are eligible for Medicaid today end up signing up.)

And, as we've gone over here, if a CEO makes $25 million a year, and serves 25 million customers, that's one dollar of the premium cost.

Cost ARE going up because of new mandates that have already kicked in, for extended dependent coverage, changes to pre-existing conditions and lifetime coverage caps, and no copays on preventative care.

Try to pay attention. You can't bluff and get this stuff even close to right.

The extended dependent coverage really kind of pisses me off. They're adults, get their own damn insurance. There comes a point where parents need to cut the fucking cord and it's usually before they qualify for social security.

LOL I'm less of a republican than I used to be. :D

Part of the math game being played here, is that many of these 22 to 26 year old dependents will now be included in the "people who now have coverage!" category.

Yes, I get that but we're coddling the little bastards. A 26 year old has no business being on their parents insurance. Fucking moocher. Get a job.
