Pluto, the farthest planet in our star system (they say it's not a "planet" anymore... fuck 'em; it's a planet), is so cold that, for most of its orbital "year" (one complete orbit of Pluto takes approximately 240 years), its atmosphere is frozen solid on its surface.

Brrrrrr....
And I complain about the cold here!

One gallon of used motor oil can ruin approximately one million gallons of fresh water!

Seeing as I'm surrounded by men, I thought I'd post some facts...

Men have more blood than women. Men have 1.5 gallons for men versus 0.875 gallons for women.

A woman's heart beats faster than a man's.

Men have higher body temperatures than women. Hmmm. A natural heater! :D

Pluto is not a planet  It's not even bigger then of it's main moon Charon. It's a ball of ice, just another comet like object that makes up the kuiper belt with the other 60,000 other comet like objects I'm afriad.

This is funny...I was just explaining to the guys at work the other day that pluto lost it's "planet" status....

I like those differences facts about men and women :)
Women blink nearly twice as much as men!

Yet it's impossible to sneeze with your eyes open.
You can fracture a rib sneezing too hard.

I saw this too, which I'll just throw in the mix -
You are more likely to be struck by lightning, than to be eaten by a shark. Then again, you are less likely to be struck by lightning than be infected by flesh-eating bacteria

Don't ask me the odds, I don't know lol
hmmm does that mean men are more likely than women for those events, seeing as though men are more likely to be struck by lightning?

I was thinking the exact same thing about myself and the odds! :)
Reminds me of the born loser who decided to end it all.
To be absolutely certain that his suicide was successful he placed a noose around his neck attached to a bridge over a deep river. He then took an overdose of pills before jumping to his fate with a loaded gun pointing at his head.
Unfortunately as the rope tightened around his neck the suddon jolt caused his hand to slip and the bullet severed the rope causing him to continue on his downward fall into the river. The sudden inrush of water into his lungs and stomach forced him to vomit all the pills before he was finally rescued by a passing boat.

Now THAT is a born loser :)

Oh I love that kind of stuff too :D Which reminds me. Has anyone mentioned the Darwin awards? Here's one

(January 2008, Pennsylvania) A 23 year old man with various body piercings decided to see what it would feel like to connect his workplace test equipment to his chest piercings. Several co-workers tried to convince him that it was a bad idea to connect himself to the electronic control tester. He ignored their pleas and proceeded to connect two alligator clips to his piercings. He hit the test button...
When the police and rescue personnel arrived, his co-workers were stiill trying to revive him with CPR and rescue breathing. They were not successful.

:D

Or this one

(2 February 2008, New York) A 50-year-old man was bird hunting in Upstate New York with his buddies and his faithful canine companion. They stopped for a smoke, and he noticed that his dog had found a bone. It was a deer leg! The man tried to take the bone away from the dog. Like any right thinking dog, the animal would not relinquish its treasure, and stayed just out of reach.
Frustrated with this blatant show of disobedience, the man grabbed his loaded shotgun by the muzzle and began wielding it like a club. Each time he swung it, the dog dodged. Suddenly the "club" struck the ground and fired, shooting the man in the abdomen. His friends called 911 and he was airlifted to a nearby hospital, where he died from his injuries.

He did remain conscious long enough to confirm this account to police; otherwise, his poor friends might now be under suspicion of murder.

At least he didn't hit the dog!

How dumb are people? I ask yah :D

Oh! they go all the way :)

I have worked in, or been involved with, hospitals throughout the whole of my working life and you hear and see so many stories.
I have a deep-seated suspicion that the following tale is not unique, but it certainly shot round all the departments like wild-fire...

A guy had been brought into A&E with a vacuum cleaner attachment stuck to his erect penis. The constriction was preventing the blood to flow out and reputedly it was becoming painful (I bet it was) :)
They never photographed his face when they used a dentists' rotating drill to cut away the plastic, but I think it needs little imagination to picture it

Oh!, and his excuse?
He accidentally fell on it while cleaning the carpet :D

Further research to the above post...

Dyson, the vacuum cleaner manufacturers, have surprised the market by introducing a clip on attachment for sexually deprived men. The accessory fits on to the hose part of the up-right and is said to provide a gentle vibrating 'mouth' for men to insert their manhood.

The company claims they got the idea from hearing many stories about young men arriving at Accident & Emergency departments with a hose attached to their genitals.

Bless :)

Grigori Rasputin's life was quite spectacular but his death was even more extra-ordinary. He was killed in 1916 by a cabal of aristocrats who feared Rasputin's influence over the Tsar (and more especially the Tsarina) had grown too great. Rasputin's death became the stuff of legend: inviting him over, the would be assassins fed him poisoned cakes and wine, and when the poison failed to kill Rasputin, they shot him twice and beat him. Still Rasputin didn't die, until finally the men bound him and tossed him into the Neva River, where he drowned.

Boney M. - Rasputin

There lived a certain man in Russia long ago
He was big and strong, in his eyes a flaming glow
Most people looked at him with terror and with fear
But to Moscow chicks he was such a lovely dear
He could preach the bible like a preacher
Full of ecstacy and fire
But he also was the kind of teacher
Women would desire

RA RA RASPUTIN
Lover of the Russian queen
There was a cat that really was gone
RA RA RASPUTIN
Russia's greatest love machine
It was a shame how he carried on

He ruled the Russian land and never mind the Czar
But the kasachok he danced really wunderbar
In all affairs of state he was the man to please
But he was real great when he had a girl to squeeze
For the queen he was no wheeler dealer
Though she'd heard the things he'd done
She believed he was a holy healer
Who would heal her son

RA RA RASPUTIN
Lover of the Russian queen
There was a cat that really was gone
RA RA RASPUTIN
Russia's greatest love machine
It was a shame how he carried on

(Spoken:)
But when his drinking and lusting and his hunger
for power became known to more and more people,
Boney M. - Rasputin
lyrics from http://www.6lyrics.com
the demands to do something about this outrageous
man became louder and louder.

"This man's just got to go!" declared his enemies
But the ladies begged "Don't you try to do it, please"
No doubt this Rasputin had lots of hidden charms
Though he was a brute they just fell into his arms
Then one night some men of higher standing
Set a trap, they're not to blame
"Come to visit us" they kept demanding
And he really came

RA RA RASPUTIN
Lover of the Russian queen
They put some poison into his wine
RA RA RASPUTIN
Russia's greatest love machine
He drank it all and he said "I feel fine"

RA RA RASPUTIN
Lover of the Russian queen
They didn't quit, they wanted his head
RA RA RASPUTIN
Russia's greatest love machine
And so they shot him till he was dead

(Spoken:) Oh, those Russians...

Ufology is the study of unidentified flying object (UFO) reports, sightings, alleged physical evidence, and other related phenomena.

UK suicide pacts... (amazing what you trip over while searching for trivia)

The 124 suicides in 62 pacts accounted for 0·6% of all suicides giving a rate of 0·6 per million. The average age was 56 years. Poisoning by car exhaust or medicines caused 95% of deaths, both members of each pair using the same method. Forty-eight pacts were between married couples, five between blood relatives. Mental disorder was present in half and medical illness in one-third. Motives were avoiding loss of a partner from ill-health in 26 pacts, euthanasia in nine, thwarted love in four.

A little more morbidity...

The country with the highest suicide rate is not Japan as popularly believed. The dubious honour goes to Lithuania, followed by Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan. Hungary, which for the longest time held the number one position (and where like in Japan, it is somewhat culturally acceptable), is number 5. Japan ranks 10, following Guyana, South Korea, Slovenia and Latvia.
