Blame NBC for the cheap look to Star Trek..

For its time the original Star Trek was the creme de la creme of science fiction on TV. In fact its special effects was considered over budgeted by NBC on a regular basis, and for that reason was shunted, and moved around the prime time schedualing of NBC until they couldn't bury it any deeper without killing it entirely, and they did. But the fans were so outraged that they set to writing actual letters in defiance of NBC's decision to drop the show to the point that NBC had no choice but to purchase one more season's worth of shows, and thus the legend began. When the original Star Trek hit sindicated TV it out did the ratings of every prime time show it went up against in each town, and city it was aired in. Star Treks bookds and movies came out as a result, and the movies resulted in the making of Star Trek the Next Generation, and so forth, and so on until now we only have Enterprise on the telly. The hope of the future that Gene Roddenberry, and NASA envisioned still lives, but it is always being put upon by the little minds of the book keepers, and numbers crunchers, and auditors of the world.

let's just say i was always more of picard fan than a kirk fan. though, kirk does have better personality. i just can't stand william shatner, in fact, the only original cast member i do like is leonard nimoy (and maybe george taikei(did i even spell that right?)).

i was raised on the tng, which i love. i have, i feel this is not an exaggeration, seen every single episode of next generation.

i also can't reconcile the changes in the klingons. that shit just doesn't make any fucking sense. they didn't drasticly alter the vulcans or the romulans or any of the other alien races that i can remember from my limited veiwing of tos, so why change the fucking klingons so much?

star trek is a neat show, but it is just a show. hell, they didn't even get warp drive right. not that that really bothers me (no, the communistic society and the devaluation of emotions is what really bothers me), but the concept of bending space was a well used scifi device before star trek. instataneous travel, man. fuck warp speed. there will never be warp speed.

i just watch star trek for the neat ships, the aliens, the hour it takes from my boring life and because it's fun and mindless, pure entertainment. it's not even hard scifi, it's science fantasy.

even philip jose farmer made fun of it.

it's just a tv show. just like scooby doo and the cosby show and friends (or whatever). it's always been about entertainment(and money)

I know, I'm sadly a woman who likes big dumb animals . On the other hand, it's not like he's a plumber or something. In order to be a warp engineer, Trip has to have at least a degree in warp mechanics. As it's the first ship of this size, I think Starfleet would want him to be multiqualified, with degrees in several aspects of physics at least. It's the best of both worlds really, an incredibly hot body, that sexy accent, a high IQ and a 'jock' personality. What more could any Star Trek girl want (except alien features?)

Like I -finnally- watched this weeks episode and that eye roll trip did. That was perfect. The pause the sigh, the eye roll. the I'm sorry I snapped at you.

OMG, that was perfect.

Then again the guards uniforms presented some very nice eye candy.

As was pointed out to me in chat last night, it really is a seris with more eye candy for women. But I don't 100% know if I agree with tat. The other shows have had some pretty serious eye candy as well, but I've never been motivated to write by any of the other shows.

But yeah, Trip and amnners, definately a cook breakfast in the morning type of guy (whether it would be edible they have not covered his cookng skills to the best of my knowledge)

Alas, oh folorn me, I conceed priority to those who beat me here. I suppose I could have a go at writing a Trip story myself (maybe add a few scenes with the rest of the cast ) but it wouldn't be the same for me (although the rest of you might get off on it).
