Trump indicted in documents case

Former Assistant US Attorney Andrew Weissmann declares on tv his belief that the Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith will charge ex-President Donald Trump with crimes related to the January 6th, 2021 Capitol insurrection and Trump's 'foredoomed scheme to remain in power following his defeat in the 2020 election.'

"But Jan, the January 6th case, goes to the heart of our democracy. ... And the fact that this current indictment is so meticulous, um, and was prepared in relatively short order. ...I think there is no question that there will be a federal January 6th case. It would be brought in DC," Weissmann added.
"They seem to go after the facts and pursue anyone who breaks the law, right? Which is Donald Trump and Donald Trump and Donald Trump and Donald Trump seventy-one times and counting," Wallace said. "What is, what do we know about Jack Smith this week that we didn't know last week when it comes to vigorously he's going to pursue Trump's criminality around January 6th? He had witnesses before the Washington Grand Jury in that investigation today."
it's very hard for me to look at what happened the past few days and say that Jack Smith is somehow gonna take a pass on the January 6th case. I also think that if [US District Judge] Aileen Cannon is going to slow this down that is going to lead Jack Smith to go as fast as he can on the January 6th case on the theory that consistent with due process for Donald Trump.

i'm hoping you're right, Mr Weissmann

While the boxes were stored at Mar-y-Lago Trump hired some 380 foreign workers as cleaners, kitchen staff etc at substantially lower wages than Mucky D were offering.
None of them had any vetting, many were let go in circumstances where they would have a grievance. The Secret Service, FBI etc knew about this and the desire of Putin, Xi and Kim to get inside information on Trump (who was showing the information about those countries to Kid Rock amongst others because otherwise they might not realize how important Trump was).

fucking cheapskates $11.70 an hour

Prospective foreign workers were required to speak English, be able to physically move up to 25 pounds, and provide three months of verifiable experience. A drug and background check were also listed.

It was unclear how extensive the required background check was — as was what areas of Mar-a-Lago were restricted employee access, if any.

about todd blanche
On the eve of Donald Trump's New York City arraignment in April, he hired white-collar defense attorney Todd Blanche to stand by his side as he became the first sitting or former U.S. president to answer to criminal charges.

Two months later, Blanche has once again been tasked with representing the former president, this time in a federal criminal case tied to Trump's alleged mishandling of classified documents after leaving the White House. Trump is expected to make his first court appearance in the latest case at a Miami courthouse on June 13.

Todd Blanche and his former law firm, Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, are being sued for malpractice by twin brothers Adam Kaplan and Daniel Kaplan, who allege Blanche and Cadwalader forged their signatures on a retainer agreement and “severely” overbilled them while they were the subject of a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission probe.

The Kaplan brothers also reportedly allege their former attorneys are now refusing to turn over their case file to their new lawyers.

he does have some 9 years experience investigating and prosecuting 'tax fraud, money laundering, Medicaid and federal programs frauds, bank and wire frauds, racketeering, homicides, armed robberies, firearms and narcotics offenses.'
His record for defense of those in trump's circle: defended paul manafort (who was guilty and sentenced to 7 years though maybe the defense got him less time than he would have received) and got a plea deal for giuliani's associate, frugman, who ended up with a year's sentence.

so much corruption in these higher echelons from the very people who hold themselves up as 'great, successful americans.

It never ends with this sleazy cabal.

SAD!!!

Again...it is totally fucked up our Govt doesn't monitor where classified and top secret documents are. Give them to the President to read. Take them back 20 minutes later...this isn't rocket science. But that's how broken the system is

Clemency for Trump Would Set a Bad Precedent for America

In case there was a question
Assuming the facts stated in his recent indictment are true, Donald Trump is an even more dangerous person than we thought after he falsely claimed that he had won the 2020 election.

His refusal, when asked, to hand over highly classified national security documents to the FBI—even hiding these documents so his own lawyer could not find and recover them—reveals a mind that is contemptuous of the law, doing this even when simply complying with his legal obligations would have had no adverse consequences for him. This would be unusual behavior in an ordinary man; in a president, it must be seen as evidence of a bizarre and reckless personality.

I've not yet seen any single 45 supporter actually deny the President's (and Nauta's) actions regarding classified material. It's clear that he moved material to hide it from the government.

The only defense I've seen is that he was allowed to.

And if he wasn't allowed to...he should be because he is God

Question: if 45 declassified war plans for Iran without telling our military intelligence....wouldn't that compromise any future war plans?

Yes and no. It demonstrates what was present priorities...but that information is also readily available by our past involvements. But what the Ukraine war has shown is the importance of drone warfare. I am sure we are looking at this with eyes wide open. Who would have guessed $100 drones could have such an impact? Not me. So I don't think it would have much impact today. But I could be wrong

trump's ex attorney, Jim Trusty, cited “irreconcilable differences” in a case where trump was suing cnn for defamation...apparently it had likened him to hitler.
a client he cannot, or is unwilling to, represent? it's not rocket science to draw certain conclusions
Trusty resigned last Friday, just a matter of hours after he appeared on CNN and revealed 37 felony charges — 31 of them under the Espionage Act — against his client in the Special Counsel Jack Smith’s Mar-a-Lago documents probe
Mr. Trusty’s withdrawal is based upon irreconcilable differences between Counsel and Plaintiff and Counsel can no longer effectively and properly represent Plaintiff.

Will you shut up, man?

This is how I feel his lawyers are every day.

Lawyer to Trump: "Don't talk about the case"

Trump: "OK"

Trump: "Don't talk about the case"

Trump: "Don talk about the case"

Trump: "Talk about the case"

fox host questioning trump's rationality quotient :0

brett baier had been interviewing 2024 republican candidates, and hume spoke with him afterwards about trump's responses:

"I will say a couple of things, one thing is his answer on the matters of the law seem to me to verge on incoherent," said Hume. "He seemed to be saying that the documents were really his and that he didn't give them back when he was requested to do so and when they were subpoenaed because, you know, he wasn't ready to because he hadn't sorted them and separated the classified information or whatever from his golf shirts, whatever he was saying."
"But he seemed to believe that the documents were his," Hume continued. "That he had declassified them, when there was evidence to the contrary. And therefore, he could do whatever he wanted with them. Which I don't think is gonna hold up in court."
ya think? :D

Message to all the guys that RoryN teases. Just read the indictments: nothing else, read the indictments. And despair! You will see that it is one of the most devastating cases ever put before a court.
