UK Online Directory. v9.

Buggerlugs was an expression used to describe a child as a third party to another adult. It is definitely affectionate and has nothing to do with buggery. It may have some etymology in the word 'buggered' - as in (UK) broken, and obviously lugs which are (Scots) ears.

I'd encountered it as bug-a-lugs in Westmerian usage. A lot of the older dialect there has common roots with lowland Scots.

Afternoon all, wet, windy and definitely up here is Sunny Yorkshire, one of the bits in Tier 1 still.... and I read we are all going to be asked to keep our windows open now?? Never mind the climate and the heating bills, those who can't afford to feed their kids in holidays will really take this additional ask on so well....

Rubbish here in Merseyside, too. Rain, bluster and boredom! :D

It should have been one of those ‘Movie Duvet Days’
But I’ve seen neither a movie or a duvet :D
