If it helps, bobbyrock, Harry Knowles claimed it was the least shitty of PT Anderson's flicks.

Personally, I like both the MI movies, but MI1 was better in terms of filmmaking and plot, MI2 better in terms of Tom Cruise's hair.

Kill Bill, I think, is a very cool movie, though originality can't be claimed. Tarantino knows how to hit that 'cool' note somehow, the same way anime/manga artists regularly do.

Has anybody here seen 'Equilibrium' (with Christian Bale)? I for one liked it, though it got bad reviews when it came out. Quite matrix-y, and the special effects were wanting, but I liked the overall tale (again, no originality scores, but I enjoyed it.)

Ha! you actually made me laugh out loud with the hair comment. (i refuse to say Lol). I hated the trademark John Woo moments in MI 2. although the very first scene was good.

Equilibrium is one of my favourite films ever. So gritty but entertaining. Plus Christian was perfect for the no emotion plot and a role for my favourite actor ever, Sean Bean.

And i'm still not convincd abou A vs P. My heart wants it to be perfect but my head says it won't be. Talking of martial arts films. Fist of Legnd has just started on TV. One of my favourites.

Would just like to add tha MI2 was the worst 1.5 hrs of my life. Don't normaly say this but...... don't care what anyone else says, it was absolute pants. Possibly the worst John woo film in existance ( i only say this cause it was supposed to be a spy film..... Spy, meaning intrigue which the first one was good with, but for the second....utter phoo), he's an action film director... full stop, like in Face Off, which was cool... whoever hired him to direct MI2 should be shot.

Bobbyrock
i'm a huge fan of the whole aliens, predetor genre. And i have to admit i'm immensely looking forward to the new film, been waiting for ages for anyone to bring it to the big screen. But you do have a point, especially about the fast furious crap which should be burnt... any anything relating to it, nooooo.... save the aliens/predator

Marsipanne
Thats a fair point, but once again that's kinda what he's renowned for, being a geek using tricks/ shots from .... whenever, and literally inventing his own style( forgive my homage to this man but he's ...... ummmm, great).

umm... well, a by-product of working is that it you have to make a living out of it. So unless you get paid for wanking, i don't think it constitutes as a job.... but what do i know

phar and bobby, i also love the alien/predator lines in fact just bought the 4 aliens films on DVD, 2 versions of each film =many hours of pleasure there.
have to say the first time i saw predator the special effects of the creature in its cloaking device WOW!!
Marsipanne and everyone else on a manga trip, the only manga ive seen apart from Akira and Ghost in the Shell is Urotsukidoji - legend of the Overfiend and 3x3 eyes, Urotsukidoji is uber violent demons raping young girls and so on 3x3 is just plain strange.
Has anyone seen Spirited Away by Hayao Miyazaki? i thought it was absolutely wonderful a true rights of passage story.

Yes, I've watched Spirited Away. Absolutely amazing movie. I had a little crush on dragon-boy (I watched it in Chinese, and I've no idea what the English version names are). I cried when he got his memory back.

In manga, there are definitely some extreme stuff. I don't think I've seen you around in these forums before, Mark, so hello from me (or maybe my 2-second memory is failing me once more)

And hob_knob, welcome to lit!

Remember seeing Urotsukidoji when i was about 14... didn't know much about life, and that movie surprised me to say the least. Don't need to say anything about Akira .... but Ghost in the Shell is awesome, haven't seen spirited away (i think)

Hey guys thanks alot for the welcome.

So where is everyone from? We dont have to be exact, North South will do but if you want to be more specific then shoot. Hell even a picture would be nice!

Well Im from London.
