Under The Fur

"Yes," he gave an affirmative nod, "This certainly is something. Spared no expense I see, even the humans have a nice cage to play in."
He glanced around at some of the best things money could buy. Things were nearly too good to be true. If he owned this, he wouldn't want to ever leave either.
"Well, I know dinner is soon, but could I be shown to my lab really quick. I just want to put away a couple of papers, and possible see what we are up against. You know how it is."
He smiled warmly.

Dr. Rachel Williams

"Oh yes, Nick. Glad you could make it. You came very highly recommended." I smiled and shook his hand.
"Uh, well yes I can show you quickly there is time before dinner. Scott? will you see if you can help Jaenelle for me? I will return." I motioned Luke to go on ahead of me a little bit and I would show him to the clinic where we cared for the animals.
"This way.. I am very pleased you made it. I know it's hard to get your service, but you know money does accomplish alot doesn't it?" I walked along, quick even steps, not going to waste time today.

"It is rather amazing," he couldn't help but look at ths size of this thing. It was incredible. Almost like one of the facilites back on the mainland.
Millions of dollars went into this, he didn't doubt that. He kept up with her step, wanting to give her the standard speech on how he was going to do things his way, but felt it didn't need to be that way.
With the money she was throwing at him, he was sure she knew things were going to go his way.
"Fascinating," he said under his breath.

Jaenelle

"Be right back brad, I'm going to go and change for dinner." I went to my room ond slipped on a long black satin skirt and made sure my tail was well hidden. On top I wore a powder blue sweater tank that complimented my dark hair whick I threw back in a long braid.

I walked to the dinning room and found a wonderful table set out. Quickly I set out a few bottles of french chardonay to chill in the ice bucket near the head of the table. It was one of the finest I had seen set in years. I could smell the curried salmon being baked from where I sat. I waited patiently for the rest of the guest to arrive standing at the window watching the clouds.

"Cya in a bit Jaenelle," he says, watching her go. Sighs, knowing that she was in a league higher than the one he lived in...... she would never go for a goofy looking guy such as himself. Oh well, at least I didn't have to have a physical..... but I hate giving blood samples he thought, rubbing his sore right arm. Of course.... he wouldn't have minded a physical.... if Jaenelle gave him one, or vice-versa :D. He then walked into the living room and sat across from some guy on the couch by sitting in a leather chair.

He didn't say anything, figuring he would be introduced to everyone at the dinner table. Right now he just wanted to see Jaenelle again.

Dr. Rachel Williams

"Through here Nick." I walked through a set of double doors into another section of the lab. This one was another medical unit area, only equipt for animals and not humans.
"Every morning and night one of the kitchen staff comes out and feeds the animals. If you have specific instructions for a certain one, leave a note for the staff member to know not to feed this one or that one. Each animal has a collar on it's neck with name and date of birth. Each has a number as well and in that filing cabnet over there is files on each animal." I continued to walk thought.
"There is a fridge for things, and several closets as well. Lab coats, gloves everything you need to see to the animals. If you need a nurse or assistant for an animal that may be giving you trouble I am usually in the next room or my step daughter Jaenelle is close at hand too. There is an intercom system in each room to page anyone you need." Smiling I moved through another door and up some stairs. Opening this door I moved aside and allowed him to enter.
"In here is your personal apartment, your home away from home. We eat in the main house but you are free to decline to join if you wish. It is entirely up to you. You are here, well you know why? To keep these mammals healthy and happy. Well my job is to keep them happy, you let me know if we need something for that purpose." I moved along to the windows and drew up the blinds.
"out here is the holding area's for each animal and or mammals. Like an out door zoo, only the pens are much much bigger. All the animals have been tamed here since birth, their parents were the wild ones. Now it's as easy as walking into their pen and calling their names. Each pen has their name tag on it as well as their file. They should respond to you, Henry raised them and they love men more so than women.. I dont know why though?" Turning I smiled at him and walked back to the door.
"Feel free to call me Rachel, the doctor title is boring.. Especially when we are on this island for months at a time. No one leaves without permission, I have the docks locked down, even personal craft. I have too much worry about spies and thieves coming in here....." I paused a moment, the wall comlink blinking.
"Excuse me a minute?" I moved over to the wall and hit the button.
"What's up?"
"We've had a breach of security, someone has entered the compound uninvited."
"Was it one of my new arrivals?"
"No Doctor.. This one avoided all the cameras.."
"Alright Handle it. Find the intruder and stick him or her in the jail until I can question them. Send two or three incase, armed as well. If they don't come quietly, kill them."
I turned back to Nick his eyes hard and judgemental about my orders.
"I am sorry you had to witness that.. But this is my island and my laws here. And I am working on life saving things here others would steal if given the change. Hope that doesn't bother you much Nick. If so, we can talk about the contract signed by you." I smiled, trying to lighten the mood but fuck it, I was goddess here so be it.
"Dinner will be ready shortly. Just follow the main hall back to the house and you can be escorted from there to the dining room if you wish to join us. Good night." I turned and left as quietly as possible. Shutting the door, I walked quickly down the steps and towards the main house.
Stopping at another intercom I picked up the cordless phone and dialed security once more.
"I dont know how you morons let another person on this island today.. i dont want to know how you fucked up! But you find him or her, you fix the fuck up and fix whatever else it takes to keep these people out or you are lion snacks!" I clicked the button and hung up.
I needed to cool my temper a bit before rentering the house, So I stood outside a moment and breathed in and out calm and collectedly.
Walking back into the main room I smiled at the assembled guests. "Shall we head into the dining room?"

Brad

"Cool, I'm starving Aunty," he said, licking his lips.

He stands and walks to the dining room door, holding it open to allow the other's to go in before he himself was seated. After all.... his mother instilled him with proper manners and etiquette.

"Ladies first men.... then the rest of us." Grins lightly.

Arlette

Arlette had waited too much for someone to open the door, she was getting pretty restless and was beginning to wonder if there was someone at all inside the house... she tried to open the door but it was locked... she decided to look for a another way in... She walks right from the door and notices an open window, no doubt leading to the same room than the prncipal door... after a lot of thinking she decides to try it, and hope she does not get into a lot of trouble... she did not want to be mistaken by some kind of burglar.. although what kind of burglar would travel to this island just to rob this house... anyway...

Arlette walks to the window sits on the wondowsill, throws a leg over the window and throws her bag inside... then thrown her other leg and jumps inside the house...

"Well," Nick rubbed his hands together, "I guess this'll have to do."
He went u ton the desk, which seemed pretty neat and clean, and put his breifcase on top of it. After opening it up, he took a few of the files out. Might as well get things cluttered all too soon. It'd be like hell in a couple of days anyway.
It was how he worked though, and he liked it.
As for now, he didn't feel the need to get into anything heavy. Dinner was ready, apparently, and since none of the animals seemed in any immediate care, he could stop by for dinner.
After finding his way back to the house, he decided to find the dining room himself. It was very large, and spacious. Dozens of rooms, all furnished very extravagently.
He smiled, seeing that someone was coming in through the window. Was this the security breach that Rachel had been barking about earlier.
"Hello?" He leaned to the side, looking at her as she made her way into the house. She was very good at that, making him feel like perhaps she had done it before.
"Hi, my name's Nick, and you are?"

The Guards were a joke too.

Oh yes, they were well trained and they were well armed. But they still had that chauvinistic credo buried in therm that you never hit a lady, after all women were the "softer" sex.

When the third guard hit the floor they decided to drop all pretenses of civility. Pity it was too late.

I covered the distance between myself and the two remaining monolithic anthropods in a couple of kick steps. they reached for their side arms. too late.

A scissor kick to the groin took one done and sweeping horse kick took the other as he turned to me.

The groaning groin holder tried to bring himself up onto his feet. One smak to the base of the skull laid him out cold.

I bent over the groaning bleeding souls and took what i needed.

A couple .9mms, with a few extra clips for good luck. A taser. Radio. mace spray. 2 pairs of handcuffs. And a nightstick sounded good.

A woman was going hysterical on the other end of the radio about feeding people to lions if the intruder wasnt found.

i growled deeply and caught myself. We'll see who is fed.

I wiped my brow and looked at my watch.

One hour 47 minutes remaining. Already i was feeling...odd.

Never a good sign.

Out of the corner of my eye i saw a leg come in through the window i had crawled in.

with an alcrity and stealth that suprised even me, i tumbled behind an armoire nestled in the corner. my /9mm at the ready in case i was spotted.

no mistakes.

Rachel Williams

Walking into the living room I paused at the sight of one female coming in through the window and Nick standing there talking to her. It took me a moment to place her face but I got it.
"Arlette?" Damn, why hadn't someone answered the fucking door?!
"I am terribly sorry! Do come in, it's dinner time and apparently my staff is lacking in doing their job.." Turning I felt myself blush that my hired assitant had to break into my home! Hell, this was just not my night.
"Nick, this is Arlette, another assistant. Arlette, Nick.. He is the Vet hired to take care of the animal's health. Set your things down and come on in and have something to eat. Sorry about that, I will find someone and get to the bottom of this as soon as possible." Walking back into the dining room, i tried to smile and I was annoyed completely. No one answered a damned door, was I hiring lazy people??

Arlette

As soon as Arlette had laid both feet inside the house she heard a voice talking to her...

" Hello, Hi, my name's Nick, and you are? ", It was a man... standing in front of her and lookig rather suspiciously at her... of course he was, she was entering the house through the window... for all she knew this may be the owner!

" Uhh.. hello.. this is not what it looks like... I rang the bell... and waited... for a long time!! I am supposed to work here as an assistant for some kind of Scientific or medical research... uhh.. oh, my name is Arlette... are you the owner.. of.. uhh.. the house? "

"No, actually," he shook the woman's hand, and pointed out the door at the one who had just left.
"Actually, that hailstorm that just ran through is the owner. I think she's just a bit stressed out cause of the hectic things going on today. All of the new arrivals and whatnot."
He gave a smile, "If you're hungry, dinner is about to be served. I'm sure we can still grab a couple of seats."
He wasn't outo f the room until he noticed a couple of bodies on the floor. The room was dark, which is why no one had seen them apparently. they didn't look dead, but one could never be too sure.
"Uhhh, Rachel, I think we've got a problem over here."
Was something going on?

Was this Disneyland?

The three chatted not 6 feet from where 5 unconscious guard lay and I in the corner quiet as a kitten with a gun locked on them.

while the three yakked I quietly got to my feet and backed away from them to an adjoining door. According to the layout this door led toa study which had a door leading to a hall which led right to the stairs back to the lab.

I turned the doorknob quietly and backed into it, my gun still at the ready.

Still nothing, the 3 chatted away.

i closed the door and moved quickly into the study.

Turning at Nick's comment I glanced over the furniture into the darker part of the room.
"Oh shit!" I grabbed the walkie talkie on one of the guards and put the island on alert.
"Red alert boy's we've got a intruder on the island, in the compound. Get the dogs!" I turned and glanced around, catching the sight of my den door closing softly.
"Oh no you dont!" I ran to the door and yanked it open. I heard the very clear sounds of a gun being cocked or something and ducked down.
"Whoever you are! turn yourself in!" I seen a shadow dart out the back door and I ran to my desk. Pulling out my own 9mm I went after the shadow.
"Nick! If you can hear me get to the lab stairs!" We would now be cornering this little intruder if Nick could get there in time!

Freaking wonderful

Someone was going to play hero. As i slipped out of the study i had a full bead on my pursuers head. A squeeze on the trigger and that would probably put some caution into these people, especially when someones grey matter was decorating the walls.

But I wasn't getting paid for wet work. people didnt die unless they had too.

I moved quiker now, dashing down the hall away..locking the study door behind me.

the voice on the walkie talkie was calling for guards and telling Nick to corner me in the lab.

Guess there was going to be wet work after all.

One hour 45 minutes

Reggie

I had thanked Jaenelle and watched her leave the room, before sitting down on the edge of the bed and admiring the room. This was certainly quite a house. All the luxuries and just for little ol' me. I wondered if my room looked like this, what exactly did Dr. Williams room look like?
Sophie nudged my leg and I reached down to scratch her behind her ears. "I think you like this place, don't you girl?...." Sophie growled playfully as I heard a voice on the intercom system anouncing dinner.
Food! Great I was starving. I rose from the bed and dug into Sophie's suitcase to find her little stuffed koala bear, to entertain her while I went to eat. I had no quams about leaving her alone, she was very well trained and behaved.
sophie played contently as I left the room. I wandered back the way Jaenelle had led me, and attempted to find the dining room. I passed alot of doors, the urge to look in each one was certainly overwhelming , but I held my manners in check and made my way toward the delightful smell of salmon that grew ever stonger. Finally I found the door to the dining room standing open and a few people seated at the table. I walked in and found an empty seat away from everyone. With my shyness I had a hard time around groups of people I didn't know and also had a hard time making friends. I didn't look at anyone for the moment just stared down at my hands folded in my lap.
I hoped that I would get to know these people well enough that I could become part of the group and the conversation.

Nick's eyes grew wide. Lab stairs? He wasn't even sure where he was, much less where stairs were.
"You'd better stay here, I don't want you to get hurt," he dashed across into the other room, looking around curiously. Now, this was the main corridor, so the stairs should just be on the other side of that door.
He burst through it, looking at the group of people sitting and waiting for dinner. Was that salmon? Oh, he'd eat good tonight. They weren't spoiled like this every day, were they?
"Hi," he smiled, running towards the kitchen. At least he thought it was the kitchen.
A mop nearly whacked him on the head. Nope, it wasn't the kitchen at all.
Some elderly men came out, with a couple bottles of wine. That much be the kitchen. He moved past the man, and came up to the sound of food frying and water boiling.
Good, he was in the kitchen.
Now what?
Nick wasn't sure. He had been so preoccupied with just getting to the kitchen, that anywhere else seemed near impossible.
"Excuse me, do you know where the lab stairs are?"
The chef, it seemed as if he was the chef, simply waved his hand to his right, muttering a few things. He was a bit busy at the moment, but where he pointed to was a door.
Perfect.
He nearly ran through it.
"Arlette?"
He turned around, thinking this was some kind of joke. Had he just made an entire circle? Where in the hell were those stairs?
"I'm so glad you're ok. You wouldn't happen to know where some lab stairs are, would you?"
If this was someone's idea of a funhouse, it wasn't working. Nick wasn't having any fun at all.

Arlette

Arlette stared at Nick... " Uhh... not really I have no idea where anything in this house is... only thing I know is Im here to work... and thats it... ".

" Would you mind if I tag along with you? I dont want to just stay here... I feel uncomfortable... ".

"Oh, yes, yes, of course," he grasped her hand tenderly.
"I'm the vet here," he said, as they walked back to the main corridor. At this point, he decided to take a different door, and maybe that would provide help to some stairs.
"I'm just here to make sure nothing happens to the poor little critters. It's so cruel how some people treat animals. Then again, it's probably just as bad how they treat some humans."
He gave a small laugh, squeezing her hand. It was a bit of a tense moment, trying to find some armed and probably dangerous theif, he thought it best to at least lighten the mood.
"Ah hah," he said at last, as they moved past what looked like a den, and a flight of stairs was right there. He looked up at them, but didn't see anyone coming down. If anything, the man was probably long gone by now.
"So, what are you going to be doing here?"

Decided to introduce hisself to the other people at the table.

"Hello, my name is Brad Hunter. I know Doc Rachel through my mother. I lack in physical strength, but my intelligence is far beyond my peers in college. I was hired here to help crack some DNA code.... for personal reasons and financial is why I am here. May I inquire about the rest of you as to your proffessions?"

Arlette

Arlette thought at that last question for a moment... She did not even knew what was she supposed to be doing here, she hoped someone would tell her soon, she did want to make herself feel useful, not just catch a free vacation on an island...

" Well, actually, I still do not know excactly what I will be doing, I just took the opportunity to work and spend a little time on this island, I was told it had something to do with some scientific research... ". Arlette thought a little more on the subject...

" I guess It has to do something with animals... Im not sure... do you know anything about it? "

Nick gave off a slight smile, shaking his head.
"I wish I knew," he said quite frankly, "I have no clue what's going on here either. I was hired here as a vet actually. Just came to take care of the animals. I suppose there was supposed to be some sort of scientific research thing, but as of yet our host hasn't had time to tell us all what's going on."
Nick touched her shoulder, as if to reassure her, "I don't think there'll be anything too complicated. You know how these things are, it's probably just another reality thing. They send you on an island with a bunch of animals and Fox pays you a couple of million to put it on their show."
Laughing a little bit, he checked the stairs one more time. Nothing he could see. Maybe these were the stairs to the second story. He wasn't sure if there were any stairs. In all honesty, he didn't remember there were stairs at all.
These had to be the only ones, didn't they?
"So, tell me a little bit more about yourself."

Dr. Rachel Williams.

Picking up the walkie talkie I called for order and control. The door slammed in my face and locked. My fist striking the door i turned and raced back towards the lab. I needed to find out what the hell that twit took!?
"Alright, guards be on the look out for an intruder in black, heading towards the back of the lab area. Close off the island and get the chopper in the air. Any sign of him or her, take them out with the tranquilizers until I know what the hell was taken!" I closed off the signal, kicked off my shoes and ran down the hallway to the lab.
I had everything organized, well documented and I knew every inch of my lab. Throwing open one set of doors at a time and searching I found the slightly moved vent inwhich IT came through. I glanced into the fridgeration unit, "Oh great.. The Animal DNA samples.." Sighing I walked inside and pulled out tray after tray until I heard a crunch. Looking down I backed up and moved my foot to the side. An empty tube of DNA with the injection needle still attached.
Shaking my head, I picked it up and read the label.
"Oh my god! What a complete and total moron!" Shaking my head I walked out into my lab and hit the intercom button. This annoucement would go through the entire Island over all speakers and radios.
I laughed at first, shaking my head as I reread the label one last time.
Clearing my throat I spoke up, "Attention to the would be industrialist spy slash theif roaming around my compound and island. This is private property, hence the no tresspassing. I am in my legal right to have you killed on sight, but I won't have to do that, since you did it to your self."
I paused for effect and to sit down, "Would you like to know what you just took?" I stretched out in the chair, a smile on my face as I put my feet up on my desk.
"You took a raw sample of Panther DNA, and injected it into your self... Dna that is not accepted into the human blood stream.. Some things that are going to happen to you are as follows..
First you will get tired and weaker by the minute. You will start sweating and shaking uncontrollably. Trembling and a painful numbness with happen to parts of your body as this DNA is pumped into your blood stream and through vital parts of your internal organs. This will cause swelling, first in the heart and then out as it slowly starts to infect and destroy your own dna. Dry mouth, heart papulations and then the vomitting will start. First everything in your stomach and the dry heaves so badly that you will begin to vomit blood. The more this DNa eats at your internal organs the more blood will you vomit up... Until you have weakened so much you cant move, your heart cant beat and your swelling inside is so bad your organs begin to stretch until they burst. A slow painful death I am afraid.. How long ago did you take this?" I fell silent, looking over a file in my hand of pictures of just such things I listed happening to others who had volunteered before with Henry.
"You need the synthetic Dna strand I invented with the right chemicals to stop this very assured slow death. Give yourself up and I will help you. Continue as you are, and you will die. Either by a guards hands or your own stupidity." I fell silent and shut off the mic. My hand gripping the glass momentarily.
Shaking my head I wondered what in the world possessed this person to inject something like that into their body? Unless I was wrong, they could have injected it into another vile. But taking the chances of it being unsterile and being infected with something else, that didn't seem plausible to me at the moment.
This intruder was now mine. Too late to save them to be human 100% after this. They needed my synthetic dna strand and the mutant compoud mixture reintroduced into their body in order to have any chances at survival. This pure panther dna would destroy his or her heart first, causing painful heart failures or worse. I waited to see what would happen?

Scott

I walk in to the dinning room looking arund at the pepal already gathered at the table. I spot the girl that brot the tiger sitting by her self at the end of the table. I raze an eyebrow and walk over sitting on the other side of the table from her. I smile tentatively saying “Hello Reggie is it? How are you doing so far?”

I look up as the doc’s voice comes on over the intercom talking to some thief. I frown as she describes what will happen to the person if they don’t com see her for the antidote. I look over at Raggie saying “I don’t think I would have warned the person I would have let the ideate die.” I shrug self concisely “But then that’s me.”

I look at her for a bit taking in her fetchers and liking what I’m seeing. I blink realizing that I was staring. I blush slightly saying “Sorry about that.” I look down at the other trying to hide my blush “So what are you her to do? If I may ask?”
