Poor scouries, He thinks other people besides me see this. Everyone else has him and his alts on ignore.

Already submitted one chapter

I submitted a story for the contest, then decided to add a second chapter. Now I can't submit the second chapter without attaching it to the first chapter. If I do this, do I lose all my votes from the first chapter?

You should be able to submit an edited version without losing any votes, etc., but you better hurry up and do so, if that is your wish.

I don't have him on ignore. Sometimes I find him to be amusing, but I never take him seriously. :D

I'd wait until the contest was over. Then I'd submit subsequent chapters. Even if you win in the contest, the win couldn't be pulled from you without tossing up what the contest has already done--a couple of contests ago it let a winning entry be reedited in the middle of the contest.

You could always submit the continuation outside the contest. That eliminates the need to edit or worry about the contest entry at all.

Scouries is never amusing. He's vile and disgusting. Ask him to write a story with substance? I bet he'd be lost.

PS? Good luck all! xo

Some people would say my stories are also lacking in substance, and I wouldn't disagree with them.

That's what I did. I'm not sure if I like Chapter 1 or 2 better and would like to have both in the contest, but oh well. And they are different categories as well. Part 1 is lesbian and Part 2 is group sex as it turns into a threesome. May be very different readers for the 2 parts.

If it falls into different categories...and could actually be stand alone..I personally see no reason why they both couldn't be entered. Just my opinion.

That's what I thought too and why I tried to entered them as two different stories, but not much I can do about it. I didn't edit because I don't want to lose the votes already submitted and start over again.

Did you read the contest rules? This is the first one listed:

All submissions must be stand-alone stories created for this contest theme. We will not accept individual chapters of a larger work submitted separately. If you have a multi-chaptered contest-themed submission, please submit all chapters together as one story submission.

That's why I'm trying to find out if I lose my votes if I revise the story now. When I started it I didn't plan on making it two parts. Just the way it ended up. Each chapter can stand on it's own, and I'll leave them individual if it means I'm starting over.

When you edit, unless you delete and resubmit, your votes/views/etc. are maintained. The only thing that gets changed is what you request ( in this case, the story text )

I'd still advise submitting the second part as a normal story -- not part of the contest -- rather than editing the contest submission. That's simply to avoid one source of bickering that has a lot of legitimacy. Editing a story mid-stream in a contest just raises a lot of questions. Entering both parts is going to present a very high bar for whether the stories can both stand alone in the eyes of contestants and observers.

Submitting the second part by itself outside of the contest will nip most of that in the bud. You get to keep telling your story. Those who want to read more about the characters get that wish. Most importantly, you close a lot of openings for people to jump up on a soapbox and scream at you.

And the troll voting has begun. I flew under the radar for most of the day, but I suddenly got eight votes and went from 4.71 to 4.57. That seems a bit much to me. Maybe I'm wrong.

Attention all those of a trollish nature: Kiss my ass. Better yet, dream of kissing my ass and know that you will never get the priviledge. Thank you. That is all.

I love the way you phrased this! :)

Yeah, neither of mine is going to get done. Just not enough motivation to write. Should have just stuck with the original plan and went straight to Earth Day. Now I've lost all that time to get something together for that.

Probably won't be tracking this contest at all either. Still exhausted from the last one. That was a hell of a lot of data to keep track of.

Good luck to everyone, and better get cracking if you're still planning to enter. Only a couple of days left now.

Well, I submitted my second story a couple of hours ago, and it's posted already. It's fairly long, almost 8,000 words, and pretty soppy. I hope nobody gets sick reading it from all the sweetness.

Darkniciad, maybe you can use some of that writing elsewhere. Just rechannel your energy into Earthday. The important thing is you are writing. Any creation is better than none, I feel. Don't think of it as wasted time. We appreciate the time and effort you put into the tracking. Give yourself a break.

I read Firebrain's entry and was blown away! Read it. It's an amazing bit of writing.
