Valentine's Day 2011 Contest Support Thread

Thanks, Dark and sr71plt. That does help and I will pass this along! So would a typical Wife/Husband story be best placed in Romance? Erotic Couplings is more someone you just meet, not in a relatinship with, right?

It all depends upon the tone of the story. There's nothing precluding married couples in erotic couplings. The tagline is "wild one on one sexual encounters" I believe. It's a bit of a catch-all category, so it isn't the best choice if the story fits in a narrower category, but as an alternative to LW... yeah, certainly worth serious consideration *laugh*

If the couple is trying to recapture the magic of their relationship ( not just sexually ) it might very well fit into romance.

I have a question concerning the "Loving Wives" category. On the category it says "Tales of adventurous married women & their mates." Is it Wives and their husbands? Wives and their lovers? Faithfulness? Infidelity? Some? All of the above? Or is this another of those broad categories where most anything goes? Another Lit author also had this inquiry as they are working on a story that they thought is best placed in that category; but now is not so sure.

Thanks!
I write in LW as much as most anyone. It could be a true loving wife story. Good relationship etc. Cheating and adultry is where the readers do a lot of commenting.

The category does not like Cuckold husbands, but will stick up for a man who gets even with the wife. (in most cases) I like to put revenge stories there.

If the husband/wife sex is swinging and agreeable it should go into the group or swinging category.

True husband and wife love stories do good here as long as there isn't cheating going on. Drop a story or two into LW and see what happens. You are almost guaranteed tens of thousands of reads. Comments and voting is usually pretty good also.

Hope this helps, believe me, I have a lot of stories in the category.

DARK and DG that makes sense. OK. I haven't written one yet. Maybe I'll give it a whirl one day. I'm gearing up to post a sci-fi/fantasy story next week.

RAVENFOX, glad to you hear you are feeling a bit better. I have yet to "read" one of your stories. I need to find good headphones and some quiet time. *giggles*

GLYNNDAH, really? :( I sent a couple of people over your way! Do you think it is the category? It was a hot story! Got me going and I want more of it! :catroar: Do you have any plans for that?

*sigh* My poor little story isn't doing too well.

How can you tell it's not doing well?

I read it and it's awesome.....the end of it surprised me...I thought you were going someplace else with it...I hope this is just the first in a potential series....

defending my title

I just finished proofing my Valentine's Day story contest entry. I hope it's not too late to enter. Now I need to figure out which category best suits it. And I'm still debating the title.

It's not a ghost story but there is a fantasy element.

:heart:Mia:heart:

I'm writing mine as we speak. I've never entered a contest before.

Firebrain in writing nice, sweet story shocker

signed, sealed, delivered

I just submitted it. It's called Noes & Toes. I put it in the Sci-Fi and Fantasy category. I could have gone Mature too but I wasn't sure.

This is so exciting. I took a time-out from a novel I'm working on and this whole story came to me in one sitting. Totally psyched!

:heart:Mia:heart:

I've submitted! Woo. 13,000 words in 24 hours; a personal best (by far, lol. The same amount can sometimes take a month).

Anyway...I wrote a nice, normal Erotic Couplings story and I actually enjoyed it, heh. There may be a gay werewolf rap involved.

Good luck everyone! Now I will actually have time to read some entries...

Congrats! and good Luck!
As long as you are having fun, that's what really counts.
DG:)

Yes, I know, I've been MIA. :)
But I'm baaaacckk....

And decided to go ahead with my bad self and submit a story.
Well, I'm still writing it as of right now, but.. I hope to have it done in time!
Wish me luck with that one, lol. :)

I haven't read any stories yet, but I hope to get that done as soon as I get my story kicked out!

Good luck all!
Happy writing. :cathappy:

I need to add a foreword: "Keep reading. There's sexy stuff. I promise."

Yay for a snow day, giving me a chance to write! lol
Almost done, then I gotta edit and get it submitted. :D

I hope EVERYONE in the line of the Storm and/or other nasty weather is prepared, stays warm and safe and doesn't travel unless there is a dire need to! That gives a great excuse to WRITE and READ if you are stuck home! :)

I trip to the grocery store after 5 snow-bound days sparked some inspiration. *LOL* I'll see where it goes.

Glynndah, there sure is!

Mia and Firebrain, got yours on the list "to-be-read" good luck!

Yay EmKit, missed ya! Can't wait to read :cattail:

Glynndah:

Why not just make it your story's new title instead? I mean, adding a foreword to a 750-word short story is kinda like mounting Texas long horns onto a Mini Cooper, don'tcha think?

Others:

C'mon, already. Read it! There really is sexy stuff in there. I promise.

:heart:Thanks! Our stories both seem to start with a lonely woman and her cat. It's a zeitgeist!

I finally finished the first draft of my second story, and I will edit it tomorrow and, maybe Thursday before submitting it. I hope I beat the deadline.

One side benefit of this entry is that I will incur the enmity of Scouries, because this is a second entry for me and it is about a couple I have written about before. :)
