I don't think I'm going to post to this thread anymore during this contest. What used to be a helpful and fun thread has turned into hatred and mockery. I have enough of that in my life without posting to a thread to read more.

The point I was making, no pun intended, was that a BDSM story won a Valentines Day Contes

Good writing is good writing, regardless of subject.

I have a perverse yen to write a Loving Couples entry just for the hell of it, as that seems to be the toughest category of all.

I guess with competition entries maybe the category is less important because people read the competition and not the category quite so much.

Finished!

Well that was ugly. Got stuck 3/4 through a story and after days of trying to work things out, discarded about a third and started a new ending.

Finally finished the writing - now it's time for a day or two of painful edits. At least it looks like I'll have something for this contest. Out of contention for prizes still, but it's nice to finish a tough one.

I'm confused

Mine is ready.

I have no idea what category it belongs in. Does it matter what category it is submitted in? Can I submit it without specifying a category? It is between being a poem and prose. Its format demands that it isn't prose. But it doesn't have a rhyme. It could be in Erotic Horror, Loving Wives, Romance, Mind Control, Exhibitionist and Voyeur, Erotic Couplings, Nonhuman, Nonconsent and Reluctance, or Erotic Poetry. There is obviously a stronger case for some than others. I'm really not sure because it doesn't seem to belong anywhere. I'm happy with it but it is different from anything I have written and I am eager to see what happens with it. I suspect that often the last person who knows anything about the quality of a story is the person who wrote it. In this instance that is certainly true. I would like advice but I'm not sure who would provide that.

Unfortunately my dear man I was outvoted by the Lincoln Road Irregulars. Yes the merry band of ScouriesWorld contributors decided after a few rounds that they would utilize the same strategy that has proven so successful with dixie. That they’d take the battle to the enemies door so to speak.

I believe (and argued) that the “ignore” technique was more than adequate for someone so clearly mentally challenged but a more activist faction (led by the real life Gabby) argued for more.

So they’ve extended the contract that had already been given to Jerome (Gabby’s teen age nephew) and his girlfriend. Now they will no longer restrict their attention to dixie (an operation that has been quite successful by the way – dixie has been slowly learning his lesson) but will also concern themselves with lesser lights.

The boy’s mandate is the same as before – ugly posts made on the ScouriesWorld threads will be responded to – but not on our threads. Instead they’ll be taken to wherever said poster pops up his retarded head. Jerome will not make personal attacks on this sad creature – no he’ll simply regurgitate this ugly person’s own posts wherever he finds him.

So I’m sorry D.G., if you continue to visit here you may be exposed to what we see every day…​

You recently removed 3 posts I made on the 2011 Valentine’s Day Thread (posts #147, 152 and 157) with the following explanation.

Now I suppose you could claim ignorance – that you didn’t know these posts were simply copies of posts made on the A.I.R. Thread in the STORY FEEDBACK FORUM by the dumb Texan. In fact it was one of two or three different posts he’s made literally hundreds of times.

However we both know better. In fact you may remember that I pm’d you (with copies to manu and the Conformist) some eight months ago on the subject – a pm which pointed out that I believed the dumb Texan was breaking the above rule.

At the time you said you didn’t enforce that rule – that I should simply “IGNORE” him. Which I did. Now apparently you are enforcing the rule. Which I totally agree with.

So in the spirit of your new vigor in rule enforcing I’d like to report the following posts made on page 13 of the Congrats to the ASSOCIATION of INDEPENDENT READERS “Special Contest” AWARD WINNERS thread: Posts 302, 304, 306, 308, 311 (of course the same post has also been made on earlier pages but I certainly don’t want you to have to spend all your time erasing past transgressions).

But I am looking forward to seeing the posts I mentioned removed and seeing you treat everyone equally and fairly as is your wont.

I'm still plugging along on mine -- slowly. I'm half tempted to skip ahead in the one to the parts that are clear in my head, just so I feel like I'm making some progress. As it is, I'm fighting for every paragraph to connect the opening to the culmination.

The other is probably just me being gun shy about breaking into a new category

Yep, that's it. I'm tired of fighting the "getting to know each other and finding the spark" part of this damn story. I'm going to skip it for now and write the stuff that's been in my head for a couple of months now, hoping that the middle will grow out of the bookends once I transform the mental cliff notes into full scenes.

Good idea. Write the end and then add the middle as the front and the front as the middle.

With a little rearranging things will work out. Been there, done that. My first novel starts in the middle, goes back to the first and then ends. Faked me out but the publisher loved it.

At the very least, it's working to let me write. I've got the scene moving, and glancing back over it, I'm actually happy with what I wrote *laugh* Probably twice as much text as I've written in a couple of days, even counting the stuff I've backspaced.

The basics of this point of the story on have been in my head for quite some time, so they're flowing. I know what brings them together in general to get to this point, but they just weren't playing it out so I can figure out what the details are.

Maybe I can at least get everything else written, then backtrack and get Glen and Melinda to move through that troublesome section.

So, one story's finished, although it may need a little polishing. I was doing just fine last night until the first paragraph and a conversation popped into my head. It may be the genesis of a second story. We'll see.
