Voting problems at Lit, and maybe it's Lit itself/help???

Okay, I'm going to try to do this the right way this time. Fraudulent voting!

I'll do it in separate postings here.

First, I voted, and PC'ed Dracona on her stories (a friend recommeded I read her writing as being more than good -- it was). Did that provide the troll catalyst? Who knows. Here's what I do know:

My story, "Till the Magic's Gone," was enjoying a nice ride, maybe had a three vote, that or two fours in a row once. I had 40 votes, 4.88 average. I had just given Dracona a couple of well-deserved five's on her two stories, and left PC's.

Went to dinner about 5:40 (plus there were thunderstorms in the area). At about 7:40 or so, checked my submissions and saw I had a 1 vote. Checked the "Top list" for lesbian, and it showed 41 votes, 4.78 just as my submissions did, and went from 1st place to 57th place.

Worse, Dracona, whom I had just praised, went from 6th place, 4.84, to 15th, with a 4.81. Haley went from 3nd place and 4.86 to 7th and 4.82, and maybe doesn't even know it yet. The top three spots were now babylez who previously had been 2nd, 4th, and 5th.

As you can see in the following post, the number of votes were altered, especially on Haley.

Okay, I sent a malicious report to Laurel. In 5 minutes the "Top List" for lesbians was back as it was before. When I checked my submissions, I still showed 41 votes, and 4.78. Going back to the "Top Lists" it was now returned to where it was with the malicious vote(s).

I sent a PM to Laurel, and the "Top Lists" were returned to be corrected. My submissions weren't though, and I checked the "Top lists" again, and, well, they were back with the malicious votes.

Now, one thing I want to make clear. This is not to say that "babylez" had anything to do with it. Not at all. There was too much moving of votes for her to have done something like that. To see what I mean, look at the votes Haley had, and was reassigned. Quite a difference.

Next post, the PM to Laurel.

If a story is good? It will get voted down. If you have friend, then they will out vote a 2. If there is a bomb, then PM Laurel for removal. If you are upset about it?

Why be? If people love and then hate you - is that not better than being mediocre? Does a star not get both accolades and hate mail? Who prefers to get a bunch of 3's? Better to get three 5's and a 1 - I say.

I also say "Be happy that people read enough of your work on a free site to give either."

Threads like this really make my blood boil. Complaining about 1-votes, about trolls, etc. - well, it's utterly ridiculous, but I can understand why some people would be upset and need to vent.

But when an author - without a shread of proof - without any understanding of how the voting system works and what kind of security measures are in place, because Laurel and Manu have never leaked any detail about the voting security or fraude-detection systems, posts threads and tries to stirr shit up to make the owners and administrators of this site appear to be the biggest troll of all, it is just disgusting.

Laurel and Manu let us post our writings at this site for free, and go through a lot of trouble to assure we all feel welcome and supported by the site and by the readers - readers we wouldn't reach if it weren't for them. And how do we say thanks for being such good hosts? We shit on the living room carpet.

It's nothing unexpected, though, I grant you that. Not coming from someone whose first few posts on the board, many moons ago, were practically carbon copies of these exact same allegations.
