War of the Immortals

Isolde

Isolde looked over at Garret, concern on her face. "You do not owe me anything. Friendship does not keep count of debts. But I am worried about you. You seem very uneasy with this and something seems to be bothering you."

"I hope you know that you can trust me and tell me anything that is troubling you." She looks around at all the mages they are surrounded by and says,"Maybe later on tonight after we pitch camp. We will find a moment to be alone and talk."

Adriana

Adriana looked over at Cristian. "We all must do what we do not like sometimes, Cristian," She said in a somlemn tone,"It is part of life. As long as what we are doing is not ment to hurt others, we must keep faith that it is the right thing to do."

"You are right. But I have killed my own flesh and blood, I have done something that I wish I hadn't have done and I know that I can never take it back. I think that it is going to eat me up inside, that is my greatest fear."

Cristian then stopped and looked up at the sky, wondering what the gods were thinking of him at this point or did they even care.

Garret couldn't help but smile. She always made him feel so happy, even when he didn't. The sun had set, but he knew it would be a while before a camp would be made. As if to answer this, behind him mage staff's began to bring out a rosy bright glow.
The stars came out, twinkling brightly. A warm breeze gently roamed through the forest, giving each cheek a welcome hello, before going on it's merry way. The moon, a fertile crescent curve marking the season, began to rise. It gave off an eerie glow, clashing with the mage's light. A battle of brightness ensued, it was such a wonderous sight.
Sighing, Garret continued walking, by Isolde's side. Soon enough they would make camp, and soon enough they would talk.

Isolde

As night progressed, Isolde called a halt of the mages and went up to Lokken. "I think it is time to make camp. We are far enough from the elvin village that we have kept our promise and the mages will need their strength for the battle.

Going back to the mages, she instructed them to pitch thier tents, make what fires they deemed necessary and to eat. "We have another long march ahead of us tomorrow," She said to them,"It is best to be rested."

Going over and picking a spot that would overlook the encampment of mages, she was about to start pitching the tent when one of the mages came up and insisted on doing it for her. Isolde sighed and was about to argue with him but then handed over the tent and, grabbing Garret by the hand, led the way away from the group and into the trees where they could, at last, talk.

Adriana

Looking back as Isolde called a halt to her division, Adriana said to Cristian,"Shouldnt we call a halt for the night also? I can barely walk anymore, I am so dead on my feet."

"I think that it would be best. I don't think that the demons need any sleep but I am dead tired myself."

He turned to the demons and shouted out for them to stop which they grudgingly did. As soon as they stopped Cristian walked over to the top of a small rise and started a fire then rolled out a bedroll and lay down on it.

Lokken saw the divisions stop and flew up into the air. "Halt and prepare camp!" he bellowed. The rest of the army stopped. "Demons and mages, to your tasks!" shouted Lokken, before landing. The mages cast stone walls around the entire camp, and then waited as the demons put up the tents and lit the fires. All of the generals and other officers went to Lokken's tent, which was by far larger. Inside, they found a feasting table set with food of all types. The officers sat down at their positions. Isolde and the others looked about nervously. then Lokken stood up, and the officers(all except the new ones) bowed. "Let us say a prayer! One for our approaching battle and one for our food and a good march!" exclaimed Lokken. They sat back into their chairs. Lokken's ong, black cape flowed behind him as he sat back as well. Then he let up a chant in the native tongue of the Tarosians. The officers(all except the new ones) joined the chant.

Garret opened his mouth to speak to her, to tell her everything, but then one of Lokken's lackies came and said dinner had been prepared.
He sighed, maybe fate was telling him not to tell anyone. After all, it really wasn't that important, was it? He didn't know, but it was better than not knowing, he supposed.
At the dinner, Garret ate heartily. All sorts of food, none as good as the elven meals, but still not bad. He gave it two stars, respectably.
Smiling, he looked over at Isolde. It wouldn't be much longer now, he wondered what would happen to her once everything was over. She had no place to go, no one to be with.
He thought about it for a minute, and realized he didn't either. What was he going to do once this was all over? This was just too complicated, why did life had to be so complicated.

Lokken sat down and picked up a huge roasted turkey. He cut a leg off and bit in deeply, savoring the taste. He set it down for a second, and replaced it with an enormous, jewel studded chalice filled with the finest wine. He took a sip of it, and set it down. "Come! Why are we so silent today? A battle doesn't mean we should be so solemn!" at his exclamation, most of the officers immediately began to talk amongst each other. A messanger hurriedly rushed in, and whispered in Lokken's ear. Lokken jumped up and rushed out, motioning for Thrinta and a few other great generals to follow him.

Isolde

Isolde sighed and pushed her plate away. She wasnt really hungry..too much had gone on in the last few days for her to feel hunger. She looked after Lokken as he rushed from the tent and sighed again. This non stop pace was getting to her. She just wanted to have a moment of peace and quiet...one uninterupted by anything...except maybe one thing.

Looking over at Garret, she realized she was being selfish in leaning on him so much but for some reason she felt as if she had found a kindred spirit in him. She had even before her exile.

Standing, she excused herself and went outside of Lokken's tent and began walking until she came to a stream. She stood there, looking into the water, remembering all the times that she and her sisters had swum in the streams and ponds in the elvin forrest.

Shrugging her shoulders, she looked around to make sure no one was looking and stripped her clothing before diving into the cool water. She gasped as the coldness took her breath away but it felt cool and cleansing also and she began to swim beneath the moonlight like she had so many years ago.

Adriana

Adriana looked at her food and then sat back. Closing her eyes for, what she told herself, would only be a minute, she was startled into wakefulness by the commotion as Lokken left. She was so tired that she could not rouse up enough energy to be curious...she just wanted her bed.

Looking over to Cristian, she hoped to convey the fact that she was about to fall asleep, yet again and needed her tent and bedroll.

Cristain looked at his food on the plate and knew that he couldn't eat it. He pushed his plate away and got up off the table, saying sorry to everyone. He walked from the tent and walked back to the top of the hill where his fire was still burning then sat down cross legged in front of it, closing his eyes.

His essence then left his body and began to float up amongst the stars. As he sat there he saw things that were strange to him and wondered what he was looking at. He was in the middle of a large field and all around him mage's were battling for their very lives. He screamed out for them to stop but nobody heard anything.

He watched the scene before him with horror- mage's of all orders where dying everywhere and with every death it seemed to rip into his soul. It was then that he saw himself standing in the middle of it all and wondered what he was doing there.

He then heard a scream that came from nowhere and then there was blackness.

Garret watched Isolde leave. Where was she going? Perhaps she was going back to the troops. Maybe he should go back to the troops as well. He realized he hadn't set up any tent or anything. He would have to do that.
He went outside, and watched her walk onto a path. She wasn't going back to the troops. That was odd, then where was she going? He looked at the trail, should he follow her?
No, she wanted to be alone, if she would have wanted him to go with her, she would have asked him. Still, sometimes when people wanted to be alone, they really needed someone. Did she need someone?
Garret wasn't sure. He didn't know her long enough to know whether or not she needed someone right now. He wished he was a little bit older, and a lot smarter. He would know these things. Garret looked up at the stars, they were so beautiful. He wondered what secrets they held, what purpose they had for him.
Did he even have a purpose anymore? He had always wondered that, if there was ever something important for him to do, or someone special for him to help. He had always hoped that someday a person would come up to him, and tell him what his destiny was, so he could just follow it. That was the problem with life, it wasn't a fairy tale. No one ever told you that you were supposed to love this person, or you were supposed to make that mistake. In life things just happened, and you couldn't do a thing about it. There was no use changing your destiny, but then again you weren't sure about your destiny in the first place.
How do you change something that your not even sure exists?
Garret looked back at the path. Your never sure. In life there are no certainties. A poem he once read said that the only thing in life that was constant was change.
He took a step down the path, and then turned around and walked back out. He had only known her for two days. It was true that she was a good friend, perhaps his only friend, but still, he couldn't butt in if she was having a private moment.
Then again, what if he was supposed to butt in, like one of those knights in shining armor. He would come in, give the damsel a hug and then they would ride off into the sunset together, happily ever after.
No, that was stupid, for one thing the sun was already down, and for another Isolde would be the one in shining armor. He knew she was stronger than him, mentally, physically, emotionally.
Was she stronger than him emotionally? He had left his family with little more than a wet tear. What if she couldn't handle this? His first night away from everything was the most frightening night of his life. He barely got an hours worth of sleep that night. She had now gone off on her own, to think or possible pray or something. He couldn't let her do this, let her go through these things alone. She needed someone. That's it, he was going.
He stepped onto the path, and quicikly turned around again.
No no no no no no no, she might hate him if he interferred with a prayer or something. She may never speak to him again, that would ruin his heart. He wasn't exactly stable at the moment, but losing his only friend as well; that would kill him. He didn't know what to do now.
This was ridiculous, he was standing out here wondering if he should go comfort a girl. How long had it been? He sighed, nearly forever. The cold night air had begun to clminate around him, he had spent forever simply deciding whether to go down this path. A path of mere pebbles and dirt.
It was more than that, it was a path into something that he knew he would never be able to deter from. It was a path that seperated responsability from childish games. If he went to her, he would in all essense become the man he could never be.
Garret walked down the path.

Isolde

Isolde swam for what seemed like forever. The exhileration of the water made her almost forget the loss of her family and life...almost. Sighing, she swam to shore where she could sit on the bottom of the stream, the water barely covering her. She sat there and breathed in the night air, just letting it be...not thinking, not feeling, hardly even breathing.

Suddenly, she felt a precense behind her and she whirled in the water, looking for her sword that she had foolishly left on the shore. She relaxed when she saw that it was Garret.

"You startled me," She said, heaving a sigh of relief and then she saw his face and knew he was about to bolt. "No, Garret, it's okay," She said hastily,"I was just swimming to forget my troubles...it alright...I will get dressed and we can talk. I apologize for leaving like that but I just had to get away. I am glad to see you though...I didnt really want to be that alone."

Lokken was gone for only a few minutes and then walked back into the tent. He was smiling broadly, but his smile turned to a frown when he saw the commotion and a few generals were missing. "Where are the missing generals?" he asked a demon. "They left somewhere, Lord Lokken", bowed the demon. "Find them! I have something very important. If you do not find them within an hour, you shall be stripped of rank, and put into the very front of the army", he said. At his entrance, everything had suddenly silenced. He turned to the officers. "You behave yourselves like young imps!" scolded the Wanderer. The officers hung their heads and begged for forgiveness. "Fine", said Lokken. "But the demons will be watching", he reprimanded. Then he went back to the throne.

Adriana

Adriana rose and slipped out of the tent without anyone seeing her. She didnt really feel like she belonged there and she wanted to find Cristian before the messanger did.

She let her instinct guide her and soon she found her friend laying on a grassy knoll and unconscious. Running over to him, she gently shook his shoulders.

"Cristian...Cristian," She said in a worried tone,"Come on..wake up and let me know you are okay."

Cristian

Cristian's eyes opened when he heard Adriana's voice and he looked up to see her standing there. He slowly got to his feet and said, "What is it- what's the matter?"

"You, you were unconscious- I thought that there was something wrong with you," Adriana said, concern obvious in her voice.

He placed one hand on her shoulder and smiled. He had seen something that had shocked him to the very core of his being but he knew that if he told Adriana it would hurt her more than anything he could ever do. She was still too innocent to be told he had seen the possible future; his possible death. It would shock her more than it had him and he didn't want to give her more pain than she had already had in her life.

Garret's heart beat rapidly ni his chest. He had wanted to run so badly, he felt awful. He simply staid there and watched her swim naked, there was a unique thrilling excitement in him, but he also felt like he had done something wrong as well.
She was actually glad to see him, that madeh im feel so happy. He always wanted to be seen. When people wanted to see other people, that was the happiest time to be a person.
He sat at the edge of the creek, glancging at her as she dressed.
"I saw you leave," he said nonchalantly, "I was wondering if you were going back to camp. When I saw you came this way I decided to follow you, I hope that was all right."
He left off the part about deciding his own fate, a man's philosophies on lifeare rarely discussed, especially when you are just sorting them out. It takes years and years for a man to philosophize with himself whereas it will make much sense to anyone else.
His hand swept across the water. It was so warm, during the summer most rivers and creeks were, but this was surprisingly warm. It must have a hot spring come from somewhere. Without much thought he took off his shirt and slid into it. The water instantly struck him, he eased up greatly.
"I can see why you came here," he dunked underwater getting his hair wet. Coming up, he shook himself lightly and looked for her. She was on the shore watching him. He smiled innocently.
"I'm sorry, I couldn't help it. It's been so long since I've had a good swim," there was a tone of relaxation. It wasn't just the water, but it was with her. He could tell that he could be relaxed with her, he didn't have to put up any barriers, or tell her certain things while he ket others. He had never had someone like that before, never. It was something he wished he always had.

Isolde

Isolde was startled to see Garret dive into the pond. It was the most spontanious thing she had seen him do since she had met him. She laughed in pure pleasure and, with a mischievious grin, she dived in after him-clothes and all. Coming up near him, she smiled and shook her dark main of hair, letting the water splash all around.

Treading water, she said,"I have always loved to swim. My father taught me when I was quite young...even by elvin standards. I always would go down to the river or pond when I was troubled and just let myself get lost in the beauty of nature and envision the water rinsing my troubles away."

"So much has happened in such a little time that I needed to find a way to just let everything go for a little while." She looked at him from under her lashes,"But I am glad that you followed me. I would not have liked to have been alone for long-things are too fresh in my mind. And I can think of no one I would rather spend time with than you."

Looking at Garret, Isolde pauses for a minute and then does what she has longed to do since the moment they were pulled away by Lokken's monster from the portal. Acting before she can stop herself, she swims up to Garret and puts her arms around him, kissing him tenderly and deeply, her hands running over his shoulders in a caress.

Pulling back, she blushes a bit and says,"I'm sorry, that was forward of me but I have wanted to do that for awhile now only Lokken keeps interfering so I cant get any time alone with you." Her blush deepens at the confession and she stays still, the sound of her treading water the only sound from her.

Adriana

Adriana smiled at Cristian. There was something that he was not telling her...she felt it but as long as he was okay physically, she would be happy for now.

"Lokken wants his generals again and has sent one of his messangers for you and Isolde and Garret. I thought that it would be better if I found you than any apperition he might send."

Cristian turned to Adriana and told her to go to the tent and he would follow her. As soon as she left Cristian put his hand to his side and felt the blood there then fell back against the tree and started breathing heavily. As he watched Adriana walk away he decided not to call to her as he didn't want her to worry.

He still sat there and closed his eyes, his breath becoming shallow. He placed his hand on his side and felt the blood seeping from the wound then fell onto the ground, his eyes closing.

Lokken waited in his throne room for about 10 minutes until Christian and Adrainna walked in. "Oh, good", sighed Lokken.
"I have very important information. But I need to wait for Garret and Isolde", he said.

OOC: Ummm- how can Cristian be there when he has just collapsed on the top of the hill he was on?

Adriana

Adriana looked back to make sure Cristian was coming and saw him laying on the hill. Whirling about, she runs back to him and puts her hands under his head, lifting it up so she can examine him. She gasps as her hands come away covered in blood. She looks about frantically and then says to Cristian,"Hold on, Cristian, I will bring help, I promise!"

Taking off down the hill, she runs, her heart almost bursting with the effort to Lokken's tent. Almost falling inside of it, she gasps out,"Cristian....hurt...on hill...blood...his head...please help!"

Having delivered her message, she sinks to her knees gasping for breath and trying to stop her heart from racing.
