Warrior and the Goddess (closed)

"Then greetings to you Felena. I hope our travels are unimpeded on the way back."

He walked away and glad the lion and tigers little more concern. You seemed to have a way with them and since you had yet to have them pounce on me I had little reason to believe you would so now. I moved around the Temple ruins looking around here and there. Occasionally trying to move a bit of rubble that looked light enough to move. Yet I found very little beyond the necessary things. Food, water, and replacement salt to get through the desert.

It seemed like you needed some space at the moment so I had left you alone during the night. Finding just enough dry wood to make a small fire to fight off the chill of the night as I spread out my bedroll and slept until morning. At least that had been the plan. Unfortunately, it had been a while and your attractiveness had me distracted. I lay there in the bed near the fire. Images of you running through my head. I fought the urge to masturbate and eventually fell asleep only to have a wet dream which I will find myself sticky in the morning.

She sat deeper in the ruins lion by her side.

Why am I the cleanup crew old friend? Herc is always in or around Greece why not ask him for help? Something is not right I feel it but what?

She fell asleep with her lion as a pillow.

Aylward woke the next day and wish he had another set of pants. but he had just changed the night before and had yet to be able to do laundry as the river was NOT a safe place. He woke and stretched a bit limbering his body. It was a much better rest than he was getting out in the desert, not to different than while on campaign really. He took the time to dispose of his campfire before packing away his things and grabbing his pack of supplies.

He was sure Felona would be up with the sun but you never knew for sure with other people. His pack shouldered as he moved around the ruins heading in the direction you had gone. Looking into a chamber and finally seeing you a Maku.

"Morning Felona, shall we have breakfast before setting out?"

Standing she nodded. The tigers went hunting early this morning there should be food and the nomads always bring food as well to gift.

Walking to the steps to see a couple of desert rabbits and a couple of baskets of food.

There you go.

founding the desert rabbits and the other food supplies from the nomads that had been left for you. If everything was gifted to you on a platter like this it's no wonder you might not want to leave. I was having trouble understanding you but I was not going to give up and just walk away.

"I'll take a moment and prep the rabbit for today and we can take the rest as some food rations while crossing. Shouldn't take long to cook the rabbit. Should I give one to Maku or has he already hunted for himself?"

I collected the brace of rabbits and went over to a small fire pit. I got the coal relit and sat a metal plate on the coal. It would warm up as I was skinning and cutting the rabbit up and then I would cook it and we could be on our way.

"Do you know the way to Ciaro? That was the port I came in on. We should be able to get passage back there."

Maku seemed to try to point him to the elderly tigress still at the top of the stairs when he spoke of food.

Yes, I know the area that is fine.

She moved to one of the baskets.

I have told them I have no need for such care and gifts but since they are protected in my lands they do this. My siblings tell me I have worshipers and followers because of such tributes and I hate their smug snide tones when they speak of it.

I noted how Maku sniffed at the rabbit but did not take it. I at first started to think he would not take it because I was holding it. Then I realized he was motioning to the older Tigeress. Unsure of her health or how her teeth were doing so I took a little time to cut and break the rabbit into pieces she might be able to eat easier. Once prepped I walked them up and sat them in front of the majestic beast.

"I am glad you know the way I will let you lead then. So if we get lost it's your fault."

The rest of the rabbit was already sizzling on the heated plate as I walked back from offering food to the old tiger. She was a thing of awe even if she was close to death. The freshly cooked meat is taken off and a piece handed over to you.

"Here you go."

It was simple fare only a bit of the salt used to help season the meat but it would help fill us before we started off on the trek across the desert.

The old tigress seemed to nod with a snort and took the offered food devouring it still fairly quickly.

She is mother to many of the others here and grandmother to most of them.

Felt a nod to the food and are quick. Maku nudged one of the baskets and out-rolled foods packed for travel and one of the cubs who had tried to attack the strange packaging as if trying to protect everyone.

The little cub was a cute thing though I dared not go and find out if it would let me pet it at all. These are still wild animals and they tend to not like you messing with their young after all.

"I'm ready when you are."

My eyes glanced over you and I had flashbacks of last night's dream. I mentally groaned as that wasn't what I needed just before we left on this trek.

Tia... You stay here... Watch over grandma... Okay?

The little cub looked like she was going to sulk she looked at him and squeaked out the "meanest" roar she could though little more than a pissed-off mouse sound for now.

Let's go.

Standing she pet each one of them before they left. Kneeling before the old one.

You do not have to wait for my return if you are called back to your mate and your ancestors old friend.

The tigress seemed to lay her forehead to Felana's forehead then licked her cheek.

Walking down the center path out of the temple ruins Felana barely waited for him to follow.

I was walking right behind you and trying my damnedest to keep my eyes off your ass. Thankfully not being somewhere I knew well or was comfortable with the dangers of the area helped to keep my eyes in check and look for danger and not the bounce of your ass.

"So why did you come all the way out here anyway? Running from something?"

The temple of legend that the mystery priestess who by myth was not entirely human that I am descended from through my mother. Plus it serves as a loophole in Father's desire to build a temple for me in Greece. I technically already have one here.

She shrugged as she walked along till they reached the river. She stared down into the waters.

Sobek we will be crossing here keep your away from us. Thank you.

With those words, she walked into the water and began to swim.

I followed behind you and stopped at the river. I looked around for more of those dangerous river beasts. Then I heard you give a bit of a prayer and dive right in. I mimicked the prayer if for nothing else wishful thinking.

A rope on the bag of supplies I had allowed me to swim and drag it along as well as most of my equipment. I took only a moment longer than you to reach the other side. I was looking around as I dragged in the bag of supplies. What was inside was waterproof so I didn't need to worry about drying anything but the clothes we wore which would dry in the desert sun soon anyways.

"Its gonna take a while to get to town anyways so why not tell me about yourself?"

He was trying to at least be socialable. They would have nearly a week to get to town and then another two weeks on ship to get to greece.

What is there to tell? I live in the desert I do my best to ignore the family drama from my father's side and I watch over the land of my mothers ancestors. What else do you wish to know?

She glanced over as they walked.

"Alright for starters how long have you been in those ruins protecting them?"

I struggled with the footing in the sand from time to time mostly with the weight of the supplies but I never complained about carrying them.

"Do you have special gifts? Any idea why Zeus wants you specifically for this?"

All my life and father's reasons are never really sense.

She shrugged.

Hand it over mortal...

She stopped holding out a hand to take the pack. Why they always felt the need to carry so much she did not understand. Pack animals or wagons would be better.

You held your hand out to take the sack of supplies and I kept walking.

"So in other words you been a hermit all your life, and you know NOTHING about living besides surviving out there. Kinda surprised you know the way back."

I looked back at you.

"You have your gear and are carrying it, This burden is my own. Mostly my own weapons if I can't carry them how could I call myself a warrior?"

I was resolved to carry them and anything short of you forcefully taking them which would start at least a small scuffle you would have to accept that

Maku chuffs and walks on ahead of everyone.

Just because I live there does not mean I do not travel around Egypt. I have seen Greece but that temple is my home. You have a home in one place but still travel correct?

She shrugged. Humans were strange to her especially soldiers willing to jump at every king or warlords cause or gods petty whim.

"I left home at 13, im sure I could return to my parents home if I wished for a time anyways. But I have no home to call my own. Ive been in the army for the last five years. Army camp after army camp. We were young and needed training then a war or two started as well. Guess i have your Brother to thank for that?

Started young cause I was a foolish boy with grand plans of adventure. Well guess Im on one now. Not what I thought it be honestly. Too much sun and too damn hot I'll enjoy getting back to Greece."

She listened as they walked. The first couple of days were just so much talking. She learned some about him and he about her. She didn't care at all about what Zeus being her father meant. As they camped she looked over.

What more is there to ask or know.

They had set up camp and made a small fire to keep the chill from the desert night.

"Plenty I'm sure. I'm no scholar."

He smiled over at her from across the fire. Occassionally feeding the fire a few sticks.

"You actually have very pretty eyes."

Thete where more than a few things he though was beautiful about you but he was sure you would not take that knowledge as a compliment at this moment. Beauty to rival Aphrotite herself.

Eyes of Egypt to hear the nomads. Thank you.

She looked deep into the flames for a moment unsure of what to say till Maku stood staring into the night with a snarl.

Easy old friend... What is it?

Aylward reached over and grabbed the hilt of his sword. Ready to draw and spring into action. He knew animal had better sense than most people an felt Maku was warning us of something out there.

"So much for a quiet night."

The small fire crackled and gave off only a bit of light. Scanning the horizon looking for any sign of what Maku might be noticing.

Set stepped forward.

Leaving home with a Greek warrior are we Goddess?

His snide words not phasing her.

My attention is required elsewhere and surely you are not so petty and feeble that you can not watch after the nomads of YOUR desert for a few days Set.

Maku moved to her side but his eyes never left the sneering God who had entered their camp.

Of course I will. I have not abandoned like father or my brother or now you.

With that, she was on her feet and her dagger resting at his throat.

Choose your next words very carefully Set.

You moved with grace and power as you drew your knife and placed it at Set's throat. He would be a liar if he didn't admit that it was kinda hot watching you. A shake of his head and he was pushing away the erotic thoughts. His sword was drawn and shield grabbed not that he suspected it would do much. This being obviously seemed to have mystical powers. He was not familiar with the local religions or their gods so he knew not who was in front of them even with the mention of his name.

"Guessing he isn't one of the nice ones"

Though in hind sight he wasn't sure she would consider any of her greek siblings nice and if he was like them but from this side would she consider them any better?
