Warrior and the Goddess (closed)

Think Aries with twice the ego and triple the daddy issues.

Set held his hands up.

I sill watch over them I always do and I will watch over your felines. What is it with your bloodline and felines?..

He chuckled vanishing.

I wonder. Travel well Felana.

"Oh great, another overly spoiled warmonger."

The grip of his sword did not loosen as the being called Set disappeared. He scanned the area looking for any traces. Spinning slowly as he did.

"Anyone else we should expect?"

Knowing back home that the gods usually interfered with each other's dealings for better or worse...

Doubtful. Most do not worry about my travels he is just well Set.

Turning in for the might she slept deep as Maku slept by her.

He watched as you so casually let the events go and went to sleep. His blood was pumping and would not find sleep so easily. Still, he put away his sword and laid down his shield. A slow deep breath to try and calm himself before he laid sleepless upon his bedroll. Eyes scanning the night's sky. The constellations are in different spots than he is used to being so far south.

He tried not to worry too much about the encounter but ever since that day when the statue of Zeus spoke his life has felt a bit turned upside down. Why wasn't one of his closer children called why was he sent after her specifically, and why him?

Hours went by but no answer came as he lay until the sun started to rise. As the first rays of the sun rose he got up and started to prepare a simple breakfast so that it would be ready when you woke, as well as some food we had ready for Maku so he would not need to try and hunt in the desert. He found himself stealing a glance every once in a while of you sleeping and thinking how at peace you seemed.

Maku woke her a little after sunrise and motioned to the fire and the human.

Morning any visitors?

She knew no one would not she knew mortals enjoyed conversation.

"None since your buddy Set left."

He handed you your plate and tossed Maku his breakfast as well.

"So what will be the plan once we get to Greece? I figured we might go back to the Temple and maybe get further instructions or do you already know what needs doing?"

He packed away his supplies and tore down camp as he spoke. He tried to show none of his sleeplessness but it would be hard to miss with someone keen eye like yours.

He started walking towards Cairo the moment his gear was put away.

Standing she collected her things and began walking.

Good glad to hear it. Let's go we should reach Cairo by evening.

As you predicted we had managed to make it to Cairo by evening. The guards at the gate gave us no issues and let us pass. I was looking around and smiling though the city like all cities had a stench with it. I looked around and saw one of the Inns.

"Shall we get a room at least for the night. Might take a little while too find a ship."

Maku had already started wandering towards the docks and the lingering markets there. Then a voice called out to the lion.

Maku... I know you do not wander far from her side where is my old friend?

Makmood...

She called out in return as the lion sat for apparently expected chin scratches from the old man.

Does your brother still sail to Greece and when will his next voyage be?

Tomorrow for you he will.

The old man scratched the lions chin then moved to hobble to her on his crutches for a hug.

Aylward could only chuckle as it seems you have the lady's luck indeed. A ship already and we sail tomorrow at that. He could only shake his head in amazement.

"Well seems we won't have to stay long. Should I still get a room for the night?"

Holding his hand out to the man you have been speaking with.

"Nice to meet you I'm Aylward."

While he wasn't looking forward to the ocean passage honestly he was very much so looking forward to putting the desert heat and sun behind him. His once olive-toned skin was nearly burnt red.

Felana returning a lost Greek I see.

The old man chuckled.

I am Makmood.

She just laughed.

Not quite old friend. It is more like he is delivering me.

Oh... Squabbling siblings threatening to level a city?

Not quite.

She laughed as Makmood continued.

Ahh, Hera has temper fit over Hercules?

Close she sighed.

Father sent him to get me.

Zeus send... Afraid to face you? They both laughed and the old man turned to dig around in his shop handing him salve and medicines.

Here this should help you.

Taking the supplies from the man.

"Are you sure Sir, I can pay you for the supplies? It sounds as if your brother will be taking us back to Greece. Neither thing is cheap."

Listening to you and the old man banter was kind of refreshing. It seems you were less cold than first appearances. Wondering how much of your sour demeanor has been due to the fact Zeus or any of your Greek family had sent me to find you thus pulling you away from where you wanted to be.

"So Makmood, what's the secret of seeing this friendly side of her?"

He didn't speak softly to try and hide the question. Even glancing over at you after asking it.

Know her since she was a child and don't tell her her Greek family sent you.

The old man smiled.

I havee known Felana and Maku since they were both young.

"what was I supposed to say hey, I'm a stranger cross the world because I said so."

He shook his head. He did understand what the old man was saying though. Getting off on the wrong foot.

"Thanks anyway."

He walked past Maku and scratched his mane.

"Want to get a bath before we get stuck on a boat for a few weeks? I know I do."

She nodded to Makmood and turned to walk with him to the inn.

Yeah let's go.

He made is way into the Inn getting with the man behind the counter.

2 rooms, meals, and a bath for each. Lodging and food for Maku too. The coins handed over and a young child goes scampering off to start drawing water and heating it for us.

He took the gear up and put away into his room as a meal was brought out to the table for us. The hot food and drink set on the table by the time I came back it would be a while before the baths would be ready. He was unsure about local customs used to the baths back home.

Basins we're prepared form them. Being of different genders and most knowing whom she is they were somewhat separated by a cloth hanging between basins.

The innkeeper looked to Maku.

The sheep are safe from you?

She nodded.

Maku will not hunt here in town

He stood on his side of the curtain divide. Though he could not help but notice that the torch to light the room was on your side. Making your shadow cast upon. He disrobed and put his dirty clothes to the side to be washed and laundered. Thankful he wouldn't be looking out for river beasts this time.

"The water feels good."

He stepped inside and sank into the basin. Letting his body soak in the hot water. Leaning against the basin.

"So Felana, what do you enjoy doing? Outside of all the drama when its just you and you can do anything?"

She shrugged.

Protect the nomads roam with my lion and other felines. Run the dunes and river banks.

"Not sure how you can handle that desert heat as you do. Even without my armor on it was opressive. It does though sound like a nice simple life. Sorry that I'm pulling you away from it."

He began to scrub his body washing away all the sweat and dirt. Starting to feel once again human

"So who is this guy sailing us tomorrow? Are they good?"

Yes they are. One of the best.

She sat soaking and bathing eyes closed and a soft long sigh slipping from her lips.

I was born to the desert

He rose out of the hot water feeling better having scrubbed the dirt from his body. Fresh clothing was put on as he stepped from his side of the room. A wave of his hand back towards you as you continue your soak. The door closed to give you the room.

He went out and to check on Maku, not suspecting anything we wrong but wanting to make sure he was taken care of. No one is foolish and about to get themselves hurt either.

"You gonna be ok on the boat buddy?"

Scratching the lion's mane a few times before heading back inside and up into his room.

The lion walked back in with him with what sounded like an annoyed chuff.

A patron of the inn that no one else seemed to notice looked over.

Maku every time you are on my seas I look after you even as a cub who wanted to catch fish in the water. My question is do you trust my niece with this soldier.

Maku looked between them a few times and chuffed again judging the humans hand.

Good enough for me. With that the man vanished.

Aylward looked over at the man who all but ignored his presence and spoke directly to Maku. That really wasn't the strange part as it seemed Maku was able to respond and the man understand. His eyes darted between the two only to have the old man disappear.

"Another of her distance family I take it. Should probably take you back outside not sure the other guests would be ok with you inside. So you gonna tell me what you told him?"

The man clearly asked if it was safe for her? He was starting to wonder if it was safe for him to be around. So many powerful beings dropping in. Not to mention the ones across the ocean back home. She likely hasn't been in Greece for a while would some of the family hold a grudge?

"Well one way or another I am sure you and I can keep her mostly out of trouble I hope."

Maku bounded to the room that held her scent and leaped onto the bed. It looked at Aylward and snorted. She walked in and looked around.

Who showed up?

Looking to Maki then to Aylward waiting for an answer.
