Warrior and the Goddess (closed)

"I would not be able to tell you their name. They called you their neice and spoke of owning the ocean. I don't think it was our best of the best captain. He had a little chat with Maku and left.

If you want to know what he asked, I think I'll let Maku explain."

He smiled over at you and started to close your door.

"Rest well, and enjoy a night in a real bed. I'll be across the hall if you need anything."

Called me Niece owns the seas... Poseidon. Probably wanted to know if I was safe with a soldier or someone...

Her eyes fell on Maku

Grumbled about going on the sea in a boat?

Maku jist yawned and stretched out on his side.

The rest of the night was mostly quiet, except for how vivid his dreams had felt. He was dreaming everyone was on the ship and a horrible storm suddenly flew in and smashed the ship against the shore just as they made it to Greece.

He tossed and turned waking that morning in a cold sweat. Shaking off the bad dream as just nerves turning home finally. He gathered his gear but today he strapped on his armor. They were leaving the desert heat and going across the ocean. Pirates are not unheard of and he would rather be prepared. The knife in his belt just in case he would need to quickly cut the bronze breastplate off in a hurry. Swimming isn't impossible but it sure is a hell of a lot easier without it.

This also made it so he only had one bag to carry which had their medicine and food stuff. Which was slung over his shoulder as he stepped out and knocked on your door.

She was sitting in the window and Maku looked like he had not moved from the center of the bed all night.

Ready to go Maku.

The lion lifted his head and yawned leaping off the bed and shaking out his mane.

Let's go.

They made their way to the docks. Following your lead as you knew the captain and his ship. A silent nod was give to the captain as you and he conversed. I walked up on the ship and found a spot to stow our supplies.

"I know some of Sailing so if you need a hand let me know. Otherwise Ill stay out of your way."

The captain nodded and looked to Maku.

We will catch the fish not fish lions out of the sea.

Maku just walked to a corner where there was no real chance of water getting him and laid down.

I listened as the captain ribbed Maku, telling him to stay on the boat as obviously at some point he had not. I noted how he moved to the middle of the ship and layed down. The rocking and rowing would be felt less and the spray of the ocean would bother him less.

"Good choice."

Our gear secured and tied down. I began to move around the ship making sure to stay out of the way of the Captain and his crew. Ropes were pulled from the harbor as high tide was upon us. The boat lurched forward as the current helped to pull the ship away from the docks.

He will sulk and get his bearings for the first few days then it's just like keeping up with a toddler who learned to run.

She smiled and began to leap around the boat like some sort of insane parkour.

The captain looked over.

And she will be like that till she grows used to the movements of the boat.

He watched as Felana moved about the ship, avoiding the crew as she seemed to get her balance back on the ship by swinging through the ropes. The sun was bright and the breeze was nice He caught himself staring at her as she moved. He settled beside Maku.

"And they call you a beast. Look at her up there flipping through the air like a monkey in a forest."

Maku just looked at him to her and laid his head back down.

She is remarkable.

One of the passengers walked over. A warrior as well traveling but not of Egypt or Greece directly.

There are legends about the priestess line she was born from. Many generations ago a baby found in the desert sands alone with no signs of life or death around her. Said she could speak to the Gods like you and I speak now. Her mate was said to be both man and lion two souls in one body. Several generations later the blood of Gods now added to that line with her father. Many in these lands know of her parentage war and feather were expected over it but none came. Hera would even visit the child. Ask for the Maji and the Amazons to train her. Set may be God of the desert lands but she is their protector. Goddess of the wild and forgotten is what the nomads call her.

Maku lifted his head hearing his humans unofficial title and looked back to her again and... Smiled?

"I was not aware of that story. I had heard a few things during my travels to locate her, but I was also under my own assumptions that I was going after a man and not a woman.

There is a lot on her shoulders due to who she is and the bloodlines she is from. I don't envy her that. I am born from just common blood and while others would wish to be royalty, or blood of gods, or magi. They only see and hear the stories told not the hardships that come with them. The responsibilities."

He thought about the story a bit a "Goddess of the Wild and Forgotten" huh. She moves like she is of the wild that is no doubt, staying hidden in the ruins one might think she is forgotten. Until she leaves and it seems many and nearly all know her. She does not hide away she is not forgotten.

"So where do your travels take you Sir? She and I are headed to Greece"

Greece to hint some errant brethren.

Felt a may be known by myth and legend but few perhaps know the woman within those legends. Some say Hers loves her as if she would a daughter others say Hera fears her. Which do you believe traveling with her warrior?

He looked over to the man. Looking him over closely. Thinking there might be more to the man than first appearances.

"I would say Hera publicly smiles and accepts her, but does everything she can to make her life hell. She doesnt ever give the children of Zeus peace. To my knowledge."

The man simply nodded also wondering about this Greek soldier who seemed to travel with her but said no more instead breaking open a pack of dried meats and offering both some as they watched her leaping around.

"Thank you Sir."

Taking the offering of food. They sat and watched Felina and the crew. He occasionally reached over and gave Maku a bit of scrap or a scratch under the chin. The crew knew their job and the captain kept a brisk pace.

One of the crew throwing a netback behind the ship for a few hours and they will haul it up to check the catch. He glanced back to the man. He felt something was off but couldn't place it. He had not appeared or disappeared as some had. People connected to her in the divine sense, nor had he seemed to be a close friend like the captain or the inn keeper had been, but somehow he knew far too much about her and who she was to be a stranger.

Tiring out by evening she moved to sit with Maku and Aylward.

So how have you two been?

"Enjoying the ride so far. Still not far from the harbor and the seas could get rough but so far so good. You looked good up there. Very athletic."

He had a silly smile on his face and a bit of a blush as you came down from swinging everywhere. It had given him several nice looks at your ass though fleeting as you moved about so quickly.

"You seem to really like being on a ship."

Just have to get used to the way it moves is all. In my own way.

She shrugged and sat there leaned back against Maku.

"Do you know the country side of Greece as well as you do Egypt, or will I be more of a guide there?"

He hadn't heard of you exploring Greece as much nor had he ever heard stories about you there. That doesn't mean you hadn't.

"King Elis might want an audience as the destroyed temple is inside his borders."

I know a little. I have visited Herc and his family.long ago as well as his friends.

She shrugged.

I am free to travel and roam unlike most of the others who wish to stay close to home or at least near family unless they have to speak to me.

He sank back in his own spot the warm but not blistering sun was keeping the deck comfortably warm. The crew continued to move about as the day went on. They started to haul in the net behind the boat. Several of the burlier men hoisted the rope dragging in the catch of the day. He sat up and stretched. Figured he could at least help the crew with the cleaning.

"Well so much for that bath, fish guts it will be."

He walked towards the back as the fish started to spill out on the deck. Flopping around and wiggling everywhere. He waited a bit until others in the crew started to process the fish. Looking to see where the salt, and other supplies are kept. Once he was familiar he dove right in. It bothered him to not do anything while others worked. it was torture to sit still and do nothing.

She slept against Maku finally getting used to the boat and lack of solid ground. Maku nuzzled against her cheek and went back to sleep till evening.

The gutting was quickly becoming slimy work as one would expect. The guts pushes and washed to the side into buckets that would be later used to bait the water for larger fish and maybe even sharks. The fresh fish meat was layered and packed with salt and pushed into the barrels to be stored. The salted fish could be used by the cook, or later sold at the market.

As the last of the fish is being gutted he walked over and used a wash bucket. Cleaning his hands and body of the worst of the blood and fish. Pouring a bit of water over the last fish to cleanse it too. One kept back from the salting so that Maku could have it.

He walked back to the middle of the ship and laid the large fish down in front of Maku so he would not have to move much at all. Which might disturb Felana as she slept. The wind was picking up as night fell a flashback of his dream before leaving port. He didn't like the feel of this wind.

"Captain a word."

He walked towards the man and asked to talk in private away from the crew's ears. He kept a smile on his face as he spoke in hushed tones.

"I don't wish to alarm you Sir, but I would feel horrible if I didn't say something. I had a dream before we left. A horrible storm and being shipwrecked. I don't like the way the wind is picking up. It could be nothing at all it could be something. I leave it with you to decide what to do or not do. I won't say a word to the crew I dont want to spook anyone."

The captain nodded.

With his niece on our ship, I doubt Poseidon will let anything happen to her but I thank you for the warning

"I never said he would LET it happen but none the less I do agree. He even all but said so though still, I worry."

He headed back to Maku giving the lion the freshly gutted fish. Then settled back into his own spot. A rough blanket pulled over to keep the chill off. He couldn't shake the feeling but there wasn't anything more he could do but wait.
