Welcome to Civilization (Closed)

He watched her staring at a rabbit, since he did not bother the wild animals and he knew that Jesse and his family didn't either, they were quite tame.

"Different continent, different home, different kind of rabbit."

He gave her a scratch behind the ears and walked towards the house, whistling softly to himself

Kya moved closer to it then when it didn't run she snorted at it and growled then decided on closer inspection it was too small to eat and went to follow Clint's scent.

Clint was busy packing his clothes into the wardrobe when Kya entered the house downstairs. Clint became aware of this fact because Jesse's wife gasped out loudly, "Don't worry Jenny! She's with me and she promised to not bite. Her name is Kya!"

He finished packing, placed the suitcase on top of the wardrobe, and slipped out of his jacket, stretching out and turning to find Kya looking at him from the doorway.

"So this is my treehouse. Make yourself comfortable, what is mine is yours."

She had never needed other humans before but one of those who could give her words human noise to help him understand would be nice right about now. Why... why did they travel here, and who were the other scents around here and where was bigger prey? She simply looked at him and snorted slightly and started to walk away knowing she smelled young but the scent was old... where were they? On the island kids always seemed to like her with far less fear than the other humans here seemed to have.

He looked at her, shaking his head as she turned to leave, he made his way to the kitchen and poured himself a glass of the fresh lemonade that Jenny had made. He watched as Kya approached the two children where they were busy playing, at first they did not notice her and when they did, they reacted the way any farm kid would, they paused and looked at the strange creature as Kya was not indigenous fauna.

He smiled at the curiosity of the children as they seemed to notice that she wasn't feral and approached her, soon they were scratching and petting her, chattering excitedly. He saw Jesse keeping an eye on them, but it became clear that Kya was not going to harm his children and he went on with his chores.

Clint rinsed the glass and placed it on the dry rack, turning to Jenny who was standing at the stove, shooting nervous glances outside, "Don't worry about her, she's basically as intelligent as a human caught up in a panther's body. She promised to not hurt you guys, or at least she agreed to not hurt you and I trust her that she will not."

"It's not normal."

He chuckled, "You've seen gods, billionaires, and walking trees, I think a large cat playing with your children wouldn't be that bad. I am going to take her out hunting now, so I am going to miss lunch."

She shook her head and turned to the stove, "You, Clint Barton, require a wife. You are useless on your own. I will put the food in the fridge."

He looked at her for a moment, wanting to say something about her remark, and decided against it, "Thank you, I will come to say good bye before we leave."

He went back upstairs, dressed into a camouflage suit, and picked up his quiver and old hunting bow as he went downstairs and outside. After greeting the children, he looked at Kya, "Let's go find you some food, and say goodbye to the kids."

She seemed to copy the awww sentiment of the kids as she was getting belly rubs and stuck her tongue out at him till their mom called out to let the nice kitty go eat. She nudged both of the kids gently and stood to follow Clint. Larger prey would be nice since the little things she had seen did not seem to understand the way things were supposed to go.

He led the way towards the forest which spanned out behind the farm, slipping on a cap. It felt good to get outside, to feel the fresh air and not have to worry about missions or enemies, just spend time in the outdoors. They entered the forest and he headed towards a pool deeper into the woods, a place where most animals went to water themselves as it was fed by a small stream of fresh mountain water.

He noticed that Kya had picked up a scent and started to focus more on the surroundings, looking for any indication of animals moving about or any spoor left behind.

Kya had caught a scent then spotted what she smelled. A black bear napping on a tree branch. She grinned... bigger prey. Looking to Clint then to the bear looking ready to go after it.

He looked at Kya who was ready to attack something, he followed her gaze and saw a Black Bear, he shook his head, "You are just as crazy as your mistress. Let's wake it up at least to give it a fighting chance. You do realize that is another predator right? Bear? Thing that goes roar and has a crushing bite and larger paws than yours?"

She nodded wanting to roar and wake it up but she also wanted to know the two of them could take it on as she looked from him to the bear and back to him.again nodding again.

"You kill it, you eat it."

He stated matter of factly, raising his fingers to his mouth and giving a high, shrill whistle. The bear woke up and looked around, Clint gave another whistle to get the bear's attention.

"If that is a male we're all good, if it is a female, we run. We don't kill what could be a mother, unless you know for sure she has no cubs."

She sniffed and did not find the scent of young on her nor nearby and shook her head no to Clint then to encourage the bear more she roared and saw it was almost scared of her unsure what it was looking at.

"It's not very sporting for me to use my bow, I will just kill it with one shot, two if it is unlucky. I guess you want to fight and kill, so . . ."

He drew a steel club from under his suit, flicking his wrist, it slid open to reveal a sharp blade, "Let's do this."

Once the bear was out of the tree she did a challenge lunge and was ready to fight. It didn't take too many swats and snaps for the bear to decide to fight. It also took longer and more than Kya expected to take this beast down. She also did not leave the battle unscathed with at least a couple impressive gashes on legs and hip as well as other less intense wounds and bites. Flopping down next to the kill she looked to Clint before resting for a little bit.

It was quite a fight to behold, he only darted in to land blows when it seemed the bear would corner Kya or get hold of her. This was not the clean kill he preferred, but it gave them the opportunity to work together and for Kya to get her frustrations out of her system.

He looked at the corpse of the bear, it was sad to look at, but with the right prep work, the meat was quite tasty. He cleaned the blade of the short sword and let it slide back into the metal club, drawing a knife, he went to work to butcher the carcass, "Could have picked one nearer to a stream you know."

Kya stood and tried to help drag it to the river limping a little as she went. Flopping back down once they made it to water she closed her eyes. Her ears listening constantly for anyone or thing approaching them.

He chuckled as Kya got up and started to pull on the carcass, "You are really something else."

Together they managed to drag the bear to a small stream, he watched her laying down, on alert, but clearly in pain from the wounds. He disemboweled the bear, clearing out the innards as best he could, and then moved over to Kya.

"OK, so this is going to hurt and you are most likely going to want to bite me, but it will help you."

He took out a small package from a pocket and opened it, he took out an ampule and a small package, he knelt down and opened the needle, plunging it into the deepest of the wounds, pushing the plunger to deliver the contents directly into Kya's system. He knew that would only feel like a light pinch, but the hurt was still coming. He opened the packet and poured the powder inside on the open wounds that he could see, he met Kya's curious gaze and shook his head, "Give it a moment or two and whatever you do, don't try to lick or wash the powder off. It's on of Tony's creations, it helps to heal wounds, but it burns like hell."

She snarled at the burning as her claws dug into the earth around her. She for even a briefoment pondered biting Tony next time she saw him for this pain but understood it was to help healing.

He stayed just out of reach, ready to react if she did try to bite him, but even though it had to hurt like hell, Kya didn't once try to attack him. Even though there was a lot of snarling and clawing at the ground as thin tendrils of smoke appeared in the wounds and then disappeared. Thin rivulets of blood oozed out of the wounds, turned to clear fluids, and then stopped as the wounds seem to scab over in quick time. It wasn't a blood-clotting agent though, within a few more minutes the scabs fell off, revealing new skin.

"Nanobots got to like the way Tony thinks at times."

Clint rose and moved back to the bear to start quartering it.

Kya shrugged and grabbed some of the meat when he cut it from the kill. She looked back toward where she had been playing with the young then back to him wondering if the others would want part of the kill. It was more than enough for all of them.

He started to cut branches, using a piece of rope to fashion a travois, attaching the pieces of meat to the frame, he took up the handles and started back home, dragging the rest of the carcass behind him.

"Yes, we are going back to the farm, most likely Jesse will still be there and we can share some of the meat with them. Just to thank Jenny for the food she made for us. Unfortunately, your new friends will not be there, they would be at their place by now."

Kya nodded and moved with him back to the farmhouse. Sniffing the air as they went she looked around. Nudging Clint she wondered if Catalina would like the quiet here more too and she missed her ward.

"You know, I wish there was a way to know what you are thinking without magic or telepaths around."

He paused to take a drink of water, offering the bottle to Kya, paused, and laughed softly at himself.

"Yeah, Clint."

He tucked the bottle away, picked up the handles again and started walking again.

She watched him and kept walking curious if he missed Lina too. She was not sure why he held out the bottle to her but sniffed at it at least. Seeing the farm she began looking around for any of the others she had seen here.

As they came closer, an ATV came out of the barn, driving towards them. Jesse was the one driving and when he stopped close to them, he shook his head, "You go out for deer and come back with bear. Didn't your mamma teach you to not waste your food?"

Clint grinned, "She also taught me to share."

Jesse's face brightened up, "Now that is something I can get behind, load up, let's get the meat into the cool storage before it goes to waste."

It took them a few minutes to get the meat secured and Jesse took off toward home, leaving Clint and Kya behind with the piece of meat that Kya had been carrying.

"How about we find a nice spot where you eat up, Jesse will sort out the rest and Jenny left some food for me."
