Fury mumbled.

Someone see if The good Dr. can offer any ideas safeguards etc.

A few hours later Catalina was walking out of the medbay with Nat and Wanda. Wanda having her somewhat excited tone and hyper energy talking about all they could do to get ready for the party and the shopping they could do. Kya simply snorted and wandered away from them as her ward was well confined in Wanda's guiding grip.

He was waiting, he had known that Wanda and Nat were going to get Katalina and he chose the perfect hiding spot. When Kya walked past, he pounced, flicking her ear with a finger, and laughed as he ran off. As expected the sudden "attack" and running Clint, triggered the age-old cat reflex and Kya bounded after Clint with a snarl.

"GANGWAY!!" Clint yelled as he ran as fast as he could, dodging and weaving to make it more difficult for Kya

 

[Asa]

Kya chased him nearly knocking over Fury who had seen what happened and with an almost laugh to his voice called out.

Barton you better hope that cat catches you before I do.

Kya continued to run leaping over anything she needed to determined to catch him.

Clint ignored Fury's call, he was focused on leading Kya on a merry chase, but he knew that she would catch him. It was just a fact, no matter how fast or skilled he was, Kya was just naturally gifted to be better than him. He was grinning though, he knew that if she caught him, she would not harm him. By now she had realized that it was a game and she was very willingly playing along and he wanted her to explore this different "jungle"

 

[Asa]

Running after him.she heard a noise that triggered her remembering the Hydra power suits as she growled and shifted direction.

Fury called out again this time for attention grabbing.

Barton!

Kya turned a corner and saw one of the suits moving clearly on its own as Rhodey and Tony were standing in front of it. Within seconds she was between the two of them and the suit ready to fight. A low warning snarl rumbled as Tony called out.

Ummm Kya...it's okay?

Clint didn't need Fury's warning, he had noticed that Kya had changed directions, he took a corner and came into the same room from a different entrance. He took in the situation at a glance and sighed, "Kya, you can play with the tin men later. They have no heart to rip out. Come along, I wanted to show you the quarters you will be sharing with Kat."

Kya glanced at him, her ears still held flat. Clint walked closer, "Tony, switch off your toy, you can play at marionette master later."

 

[Asa]

Stark if you haven't figured it out she thinks she is protecting you and Rhodey.

Tony nodded.

Jarvis...

Already shutting down the system repair program sir. Perhaps an older model that Kya could deal with her clear hatred of powersuits... though why she did not seem to care that it was one of your suits not Hydra power suit is... interesting.

Rhodey just knelt down beside her.

It's okay... go get Clint... sorry we interrupted your hunt.

With that she turned and barreled full speed toward Clint.

Clint gave Rhodey a glare, "Traitor."

He tried to dodge, but Kya was a cat for all intents and purposes, she was on him in flash and had him on the ground, her paws on his shoulders.

He could have rolled through, using her momentum to throw her, but the object of the game was to have fun, not a fight.

"OK OK, you got me."

Kya sniffed him and then to his shock, she licked his cheek, her rough tongue sending shivers down his body. He sat up and got to his feet, giving the two laughing men a glare and turned to exit the room, "Come along Kya, leave the kids to their toys. Time for you to see your new den."

He led her down the corridors to the quarters set out for her and Katalina.

 

[Asa]

Nat and Wanda were already in the room with Catalina and a tablet showing her all manor of dresses online and hairstyles as Kya bounded over and tried to get between them and her ward with a snort.

KITTY...

Nat teased and scratched her behind the ears. Wanda looked to Clint and looked like she wanted to say something but paused then tried to hide the tablet laughing as if she knew some secret only accessible by her as she watched him.

Nope not even you get to see what she will wear to the party. Out!

Clint looked between Wanda and Nat, "Between the two of you, I pity the poor woman."

He ducked out before anything could be thrown at him, the door hissing close behind him. He walked down the hallway, heading for the training room where he got himself arrows and detached his bow, setting up a training program, he entered and took up his position, the countdown ended and the constructs appeared and he started to fire.

 

[Asa]

Finally able to be off the Helicarrier and set up at the tower Catalina tried to stay in away from the overwhelming noises of the city and Kya simply roared at it all. Steve surprisingly had taken to talkingnwith both of them some about when he first found himself in the "modern world". Tony was trying to dampen the noises for Kya when in the outside part of the enclosure. Fury had basically with the Super Agents help had to the council in no uncertain terms that they could go fuck themselves if they thought that they were going to take her away from SHIELD. He also had Xaviers backing as well as Dr Strange that SHIELD was the best place for her. Nat sat back with a devious smirk on her face listening to Pepper tell Tony that they were taking one of his credit cards and taking Caalina shopping and that it was not up for discussion.

Fine... fine take Rogers or Barton since Kya can't exactly wander New York City with you.

Clint was packing when Nat came into his quarters

"Have you seen Steve?"

She paused

"Why are you packing?"

He closed the suitcase and zipped it close, "No, I haven't seen cap, why?"

She looked at him for a few moments longer, then decided that he is most likely not going to answer her, "We need somebody to look after Kya for a while, we are taking Lina shopping and Kya can't actually somebody you take into the city."

Clint nodded and hefted the suitcase, "I'm going to the farm for a day or two, just need to check that everything is in order. Kya can come with me, we will be back for the party."

 

[Asa]

Are you going to let her know you are leaving?

Nat watched him.

You and Kya not being here.

Shaking her head she left it at that. She had k own him long enough to know there was more to it then that. So quickly processing should she confront him about how he seems to be returning the bond with Catalina or let him process whatever emotions are bouncing around in his bullhead skull.

You better be.

With that she turned to go only to open the door to Kya and Catalina.

Glancing over her shoulder she looked at him.

No time like the present.

Clint gave Nat a look, not sure what she was going on about. He sighed and spoke up, "Cat, since we're here, I am going out to the farm to check that everything is still in order. I have been asked to keep Kya company since she can't go into the city, I said that she can go with me. We'll be gone for today and tomorrow, to be back in time for the party."

He shot Nat a glance that asked if she was satisfied now, before looking at Kya, "Want to come along? It's much quieter out there."

 

[Asa]

For a moment she looked worried to lose both of them biting her lip. If Kya wishes to go then that perhaps is best. It is just as Steve has stated I need to learn how to deal with this new world alone.

Nat shot Clint a look like which one of us beats sense into him first.

Tony has ways of doing things. Kya will in time be able to travel around down with you I am sure.

Clint gave Nat a smug little smile

"Steve knows what he is talking about. If you are calm and relaxed, I am sure that will help Kya to relax too and not want to attack everybody because you are tense."

He looked at Kya, "What do you say? Want to go get some fresh air and proper exercise? I think there might be a herd of deer around that you can stalk."

 

[Asa]

Kya very directly herded Catalina in the room with her she liked the idea of deer to hunt whatever they were but she did not like the alone word. It had been used many times by Ebenezer to her about how her ward would be alone without her when he eventually died. Nat saw Steve walk by headed to his room.

YOU... we need to talk... NOW!

And with that Nat was gone. Kya just snorted but nudged Lina closer to Clint as if saying she comes too right?

Steve blinked feeling sure he was in trouble for something.

Hey Nat what?

Catalina will not have to get used to this world away from the Island alone. She has most of us and you know Tony or Fury will find a loophole for Kya. What in the HELL would possess you to tell her she had to do all this alone? And I swear you say language I will break you in half where you stand.

Steve sighed.

That cat is basically instructed to protect her by killing anything it thinks is a threat period. They can get all the licenses and permits they want but making that capable to freedom with her is lethal irresponsible and insane Nat you have to see that.

And you have to see Steve if that training didn't have human intelligence behind it you would already be dead the first time you called Catalina a threat.

Nat stared him down almost as protec4ive of her new friends as the Fury was.

Clint looked at Nat and Steve and then focused his attention on the two in the room and almost took a step backward as Kya had pushed Catalina to mere inches from him. He blinked and swallowed, then cleared his throat to gain some time before speaking.

"No Kya, she won't be coming with us. She will go with Wanda, Nat and other agents for shopping and to get used to the city life. She will be very well protected and there will always be somebody with her."

Wanda spoke up from the bathroom, "Kya says that they are not you. You belong with Cat."

Wanda's head appeared around the doorway, "She says that you two are mates."

"Well of course we are friends."

Wanda rolled her eyes and ducked back out of sight saying loudly from inside, "Not that type of mates Clint."

 

[Asa]

Catalina noted his actions and backed up some. Hearing Wanda's words she looked to Kya with an almost scolding tone.

Kya... go with Clint and get away from all of this monstrous noise that they seem not to suffer from... I will be fine. There are ways to do this shopping they speak of through the strange "tablets" I will stay within the tower here if at all possible.

Kya studied Clint while Wanda spoke and continued while Catalina spoke snorting at her wards tone. Wanda walked over to Lina and took her hand.

You get used to the noise and there are earbuds you can wear to help soften it with intentional noises songs and other things. We will keep you safe and Clint WILL be back before the party or I will personally make him get back in time for the party or Nat Banner will.

She paused looking to Kya.

The party is in two sunrises. Yeah I know... humans are slow about that.

With that she laughed looked between the two of them nodded to Kya with a scratch behind her ears and ran out of the room with a giggle.

Clint frowned as he looked after Wanda and shook his head as he turned to look at Catalina with a slight smile

"You get used to the weirdness after a while."

He gave her shoulder a pat, "Don't worry, I will make certain that Kya is safe. You do what you need to and we will be back before you know it."

He turned to leave, Kya looked at Catalina for a few more moments then rose to follow him, but he paused and turned to her, "Sorry for starting backward, you just moved up so quietly, it took me by surprise."

He gave her a slight smile and walked down the hallway with Kya in tow.

 

[Asa]

She smiled a little unsure why Kya would think them mates but shrugged it off for now not given much choice as once she walked down the hall Pepper Maria Wanda and Nat all circled around her.

No online shopping yet but we are willing to compromise. One store but they will be doing measurements and fussing over you like crazy people and you will deal.with it okay. Then the day of the party professional makeup and hairstyling again people.dussing over you out in town one shop only okay.

Catalina sighed but nodded. The others were dressed a little more relaxed but Maria and Nat were clearly guard duty... Maria in SHIELD uniform as the visible one and Nat armed but less blunt about it. Wanda smirked to her.

We are the ones with powers but they are the ones on guard duty.

Kya walked with him grumbling and snorting some as if trying to tell him off or just tell him.something with no one around to translate.

"Oh shush."

He knew exactly what Kya was trying to tell him, or at least, he thought he had a good idea of what it was about. They entered the Quinn jet and after securing his luggage and Kya, Clint got clearance and they were off. It didn't take them too long to reach the farm and as they VTOLed in, Clint ran an appraising eye over the buildings and grounds. Everything seemed to be in good condition and well taken care of.

"Okay, so there will be people here, don't eat them. They are friendly and have been looking after the place for me, so don't snarl or anything at them. OK?"

He looked at Kya, his hand on the button to open the doors

 

[Asa]

Kya nodded wanting off the jet. She was not entirely fond of flying. Once the door opened she bounded out of the jet to stretch in the sun and air.

Clint followed her outside, the doors closing behind them.

"I knew that you were coming, but did you bring a malnourished black bear with you?"

Clint chuckled and walked over to the man who appeared from the side of the barn, they shook hands and turned to look at the large cat sunning herself.

"Jesse, that is Kya. She's a new member, well more a protector of a new member. I brought her along to get away from the city."

Jesse grinned, "I will have to warn the others. Does she bite?"

Clint smiled, "She does, but promised to behave while we're here."

He turned to Kya and gave a low whistle to get her attention, "Kya, this is Jesse. One of the neighbors. I'm taking my stuff into the house. Feel free to look around."

Jesse gave him a strange look for talking to the large feline like it was a person.

 

[Asa]

Kya sniffed warily at the new person but looking to Clint nodded. She knew that there were others here perhaps even young. Then a rabbit caught her eye as she tilted her head puzzled by the tiny size.
