I took the bike out for a ride today. Yes this was against my better judgement but I just had to go for a ride.

It was 45 degrees with a North Wind at 20 MPH and 100% humidity.

I cranked up the bike and let it warm up as I finished zipping my coat, pulled on the helmet and golves. I walked it out of the parking area and closed my visor most of the way. I had an idea for my ride. I could either do a longer ride of 10 miles or I could cut out at several points for a shorter ride. It depended on how things were going.

My take off was a bit rough. I'm still a bit shaky on my stops and the starts could use a bit of work as well. (I tend to rev the engine more than I lke.) I headed down the road through several traffic lights then caught Alternate A1A heading North. Man this was a bit rougher than I had expected. I was riding right into the North Wind at 50 MPH. Momma Nature decided to add to my fun by pissing on me with a light sprinkle. (I had to crack my visor a bit so I could see.)

I decided to call the ride and peeled off after about five miles. When I peeled off I did the turn nicely and accelerated back up to speed only to find myself behind a car load of teens. The damned fools dumped their ashtray out the window at 45 MPH.

The last part of the ride home was on a southbound road with many turns and twists. Now this was why I had decided to get a bike.

By the time I got home my hands were numb and I had to clean the cigarette butts and ash off the front of my bike as well as my jacket and helmet.

Tomorrow the weather should be a bit nicer. 10 degrees warmer and the wind should be down a bit. I'm looking at the maps and thinking about a bit longer ride. (Maybe 30-40 miles.)
