You make a good point, I agree. But when the topic of privilege comes up then all too often it's a... because your... line of thinking.Repeating that just tells me that you either failed to read or understand my first paragraph. No one in the US has completely *nothing* to do with racism. That’s like saying a fish has nothing to do with the water it’s swimming in. It’s all around us. As I said already, choosing not to have anything to do with it is a privilege, it means the person is simply ignoring the injustice around them.
And on the idea that someone has to wait and learn before having an opinion: a) that’s assuming that no public figure is informed, which you can’t know and b) there are some things that are just wrong and time isn’t needed to see that. A group of white men shooting a black man in the back, for example.
