Melted Bodies : Enjoy Yourself

(Sounds like a Lit story title! :D)

Really enjoying this!

I think I'll re-spin it again tomorrow while I'm on the treadmill.
(Always looking for ways to kill that mind-numbing hour-long training session :( )

I'm feeling nostalgic.

Trigger warning. This video contains graphic images of English girls and alcohol.

I do miss the pubs, real ale, and fish ‘n chips, though.

MAID OF ACE - NOSTALGIA

“Under the Big Black Sun”, the third album by X, just turned 40.

I can’t overestimate how influential this band was for me. I can’t even remember how many times I rented the original “Decline of Western Civilization” from the local Blockbuster when I was 13/14 (yes, I’m old), and their segment was always my favorite. I wanted to grow up to be John Doe, meet my Exene, write songs and poetry together, and have an exciting, tumultuous, bohemian romance that exploded into art like theirs did.

Very happy that Unwound are reuniting, even if it's just for seven shows on the other side of the planet from me (for now).

Just watched this on "Rage". Aussie metalcore band Parkway Drive: The Greatest Fear

I just listened to this - thanks for the recommendation.

Dark metal with lush choral sections and cool riffage. Non-linear, with several tempo shifts. Well performed, great production (as far as I could tell from the YouTube vid, anyway), and pretty good songwriting.

Not brilliant, but pretty damned decent, IMO, and a good listen. I'll check out their album when it's released in September.

Thanks for the recommendation,@Rustyoznail.

@Blind_Justice, give it a spin.

The Tangent : Songs From The Hard Shoulder

(I had lunch with Andy Tillison - band owner - when The Tangent played ROSfest - and interviewed him a few times afterward. Nice guy.)

Eden Weint im Grab - In Der Toten-Taverne, Der Giftmischer (In der Kammer des Grauens)

I've listened to EWiG quite a bit and still haven't made up my mind about how much I like them. I enjoy their use of folk and chamber elements (a metal band with dedicated cellist and violinist!) and "Toten-Taverne" is a good example of that, but sometimes that side gets a bit buried under the metal.

Of all the German-English "false friends", "Gift" is my favourite.

This song just worked its way into a story I'm writing. Is there a sound in the world more perfect than Gram & Emmylou singing harmony?

Cool recommendation. I enjoy the violin / cello layers over the conventional metal soundscape.

I'll research more.
