I change them often. I get super bored.

I usually pick them because they did well when I post them elsewhere.

This one, is just for Breast cancer Month. I'm sure I'll find more, and at the end of the month, it'll be Halloween.

I change mine off and on. Sometimes depending on my mood, sometimes just for a change. They are all of me. Although a few years ago I put one up of a bulldog on a swing.

Mine is usually for entertainment value only, so usually something I think is funny. I'm not big on sharing myself publicly, at least not in a long term fashion. I'll change it up occasionally. Helps keep people from avoiding me, lol.

I think I've only ever had two. The current one was done by a friend of mine so I put it up as a thank you. She'd been encouraging me to put a picture of me somewhere on lit for a long time. I'm usually a very private person otherwise.

I’ve had the same pink flower forever and recently changed it. I think my new one reflects my easy going, laid back personality. I’ll probably keep it for a while.

I chose mine because I like the colour of the outfit (amberish) and I like to dance.

I have had a couple of different ones but this is my favourite. If I get bored I might change it but I am happy with it for now.

I've had this one for a little while. I wanted something that wasn't too serious and I removed my face for safety reasons. I really liked this photo of me being silly and free spirited during a photoshoot and decided to use it as an av.

I think I've had 3 or 4 others. I've always had the same profile picture. I didn't save it and I like it too much to change it out.

Mine is a sculpture in the Louvre. I happen to like it a lot. Having seen it in person it had a very powerful impact on me. (I often find images of artwork do not do the art itself justice.)

I've changed my avatar image, oh, three or four times over the years. I don't put much stock in the image/avatar myself. For years I had a pair of dice. Practically, I find the main use of my own avatar is it functions as an easy way to find "bookmark" for where I last stopped reading a thread.

Every now and then someone will have an avatar that leaps out and I think - damn, that's a great avatar, but I really haven't put much thought into what it is that makes me say that. I have ignored people before just for their avatars. I am a firm believer that what makes any online forum better is "ignore early, ignore often".

The AV I'm using now is actually a selfie I took while I was chatting with someone on here... so I thought it was a good choice to use it. I do change up my AV's once in awhile just to keep my profile from getting stale. I like to make my AV's look a little artistic and show what mood I'm in, so I do put some thought in it. Mostly though, I just do it out of boredom.
