What Book Are You Currently Reading?

Jingo - Terry Pratchett

It was a fellow lit member that had me try his books, she had told me how these were her favorite books ever and I was intrigued. I’d always read the back of the book and just couldn’t see where to start, I like weird but the description on all his books seemed particularly obtuse.

Anyway with some guidance of where to start this is now my fifth one, mostly the watch guard. In Jingo he doss a particularly good job of skewering the absurdity of human prejudice, and although certainly not planned on my part, it seems particularly appropriate for our current climate.

Martin Van Buren: America’s First Politician
by James M, Bradly

The current step in my years-long journey to read a full length, well-researched, and widely acclaimed biography of each American president. I like biographies of interesting people (athletes, business people, survivors, musicians, etc) as a general category. Presidential biographies help me understand major events in US history through the lens of not only presidents, but their trusted advisors and cabinet members as well as their political rivals and the national press.
