What do readers actually want in Loving Wives?

Erotica horror is easy to do, but hard to do well. Even the people who have almost all their stories getting a red h have problems with it.The normal way is to write a normal sex story then re-write it so one of the characters is a vampire or were-wolf or to tell a sexy ghost story.
You haven't told me yet why those two women (witches) want to have revenge on him. I guess I could just read the story, but if you feel like summarizing it, I'll listen!

Bubo, I hope you don't mind if I take a pass at listening to that song.
Oh, sure.
But it's not a song as such. It's a comic about two characters singing a song (to the tune of Hakuna Matata, but in case that was not clear from the context, I added that as extra context)

Alright. My loving wives story already has 30+ votes at 1.5 stars, in the first 5 hours.

That is worth at least three red H in my mind.

That's the spirit!

At 1.5 with THIRTY votes, you've struck a nerve. And what more could an author want than to make an emotional connection with a reader?

Maybe LitE should award a Black-H at that 1.5 mark.

You haven't even got your first comments yet. They're a little slow over there. To be fair, the husband is hardly a sympathetic character himself.

And the reason I write stories for LW is because I always know I will get a good laugh from some morons comment. And then I delete it.

Also because I like the category. There are a lot of good stories in LW. Some of them are even mine.

You are referring to the concept of a "vagina dentata," a woman's genitals (often with teeth) that will eat or devour a man or at least his penis. It seems to have been independently invented in many folklore tales around the world. I've heard but confirm that the term itself was coined by Freud, but he obviously wasn't the first one to think of it. I won't go into the bizarre symbolism of it all.
Yes, mine is one of only five stories to be tagged 'vagina dentata' on the site. Sure it bombed in the opening week, but I'm playing the long game. Give it a decade or so and the dozen of fans with that fetish will eventually get it upto 4.0.

Getting a red H in every category is really ambitious, and I wish you luck I guess if that is what you want. I have no interest in such a thing, and I couldn't do it in any case. I'm going to stoop to quote a Clint Eastwood character, "Every man has to know his limitations." Okay, so that goes for women too.
Nah, I'm kind of all over the place with categories, 10 in 18 stories and ideas in a further 7 categories, so it had occured to me I might get to the point that I'd do the rest just to complete the set. I'm not sure I want to write the kind of thing that would get me an H in Loving Wives, and I'm three stories into a H-drought so it doesn't look likely anyway.

I meant that I was the one who had to know his limitations. I did have a red H story last month for about three days, then it sank below the line and it doesn't look like it's coming back. That's happened before; the fortunes of war (or writing) I suppose.

I saw that you stopped writing for a while and then you came back in a big way this year. Sorry, maybe you mentioned why, but I can't keep track of everybody's biography on here.

Thanks for asking. There's no great mystery. I published a couple of stories about 8 years ago which were basically fine but didn't exactly set the world alight and then a dissertation, an international move and a baby kind of interrupted things. I wrote and deleted a couple of other stories over the years (probably for the best given their quality) but then a private office and almost nothing to do for a month at work promted me to start writing again out of boredom. My first new piece was, in retrospect, cringingly terrible and I'll probably get round to removing it soons, but I was really happy with my second so have kept writing.

1. Cuckold stories: The wife cheats on the husband, and there's an element of humiliation of the husband. Either the husband or the wife or both enjoy the humiliation. Humiliation is an important element of the kink.
2. Stag/vixen or "hot wife" stories: The wife has sex with men outside of marriage, and both parties enjoy it, but there's no humiliation. Sometimes, in fact, the man in the relationship is a Dom and his wife is a sub, or he orchestrates the extramarital activity. A key thing to understand is that the audience for this category is not necessarily the same as for category 1, although there is some overlap.
3. Revenge against the wife/"burn the bitch (BTB)" stories. The wife cheats, and the husband gets revenge. There is no tolerance for extramarital sex of any kind. This crowd sees subcategories 1 and 2 as the same thing, because in their mind any man who lets his wife have sex outside marriage is a worthless, spineless, humiliated cuck.
4. Reconciliation at all cost (RAAC) stories: The wife cheats but they find a way to get back together.
5. Other stories that involve wives doing something sexy, or something romantic, not necessarily cheating. This is a grab bag that's the hardest to define of all of them.

For the most part, readers of 1 and 2 ignore type 3 stories. Not always true, but usually true. They're focused on finding sexy wife stories.

Readers of type 3 stories do NOT ignore type 1 and 2 stories. Many of them seek them out, downvote them, and leave nasty comments, and some of them will even seek out your other stories and downvote them too. Many of them believe those types of stories do not belong in the category. This is the least "live and let live" group of readers at Literotica.

When you ask, "What do the readers of this category want?" you must understand that the category encompasses very different reader groups who want very different things.

You can get substantial views, votes, favorites, and new followers by publishing in any of these categories, but it is more difficult to achieve high scores for stories 1 and 2 because of the story 3 readers. Not impossible, but harder.
I have been following this thread - I think I posted elsewhere that I was thinking of using the LW category, but am now hesitant. This was a good write-up of the readership in this area. Thank you.

There were comments. From what I can tell they were removed within seconds by the censorship team. I can see that people have posted something, but there is nothing there when I go look.

That happened to me recently. A story (Ch 10 of 12) posted in December sitting with only 20 ratings suddenly got one more 5 to get the Red-H. Then two days later got a 1 to drop it below again (the only 1 for any of my stories within days).

I would scratch my head wondering W.T.F? But I wouldn't scratch too hard.

For comments to be removed from an erotic literature site, they'd have to be pretty extreme - like on the order of death threats, perhaps.

Let's correct something, the 'censorship team' gets no credit. Keep in mind, they're screening comments already, if it got through they wanted it through.

Once its live and it then comes down that means a reader reported it.

I say this because I can't see this two person operation letting comments drop, then very quickly being, 'No, wait, hold on" and coming back to get them, there's too many comments for them to be able to just keep circling around.

Unless...there is a weird glitch where they see a comment, ear mark it to be deleted, yet it somehow has to be live, then immediately nuked. That makes no sense at all to me either, but when it comes to how things work here wonky is a good way to put it

Man, in my experience getting a red H is difficult, although I have a few. Also, it's amazing that you have over 1,600 followers while I only have 105 in about the same time frame. You must be doing something right.

So if this is important to you - well, I think you could put the story in Erotic Couplings and it would fit there. Since you asked: my guess is that the Loving Wives denizens are not going to accept your premise and they will take it out on your story. Like for Vito Corleone, for them it's not personal, it's just business.
Thanks for the feedback. I think I’ve pretty well learned what readers in IR and NC/R like. I look forward to expanding into other categories in the future. I suspect that will lead me into the deep end of the pool (LW) at some point! Before I do, I have a couple of unfinished story series for which I will be tar and feathered if I don’t finish first 🤣!

FifthEstate writes well and writes well written interracial stories and has at least one with real pics. He or she has found a way of scratching an itch for a good group of readers.

I planed on submitting at least one story in each category. This thread has inspired me to write something for loving wives right now. It posts tonight. A strong white male loses his wife to a Filipino lesbian. Together these two women become witches and lovers. They also set him up to go to prison for arson. I will be surprised if it gets even 2 stars.
Thank you for the kind words Lovecraft_Lore, I will check out your new story too!

Every new author should read this post before posting a story in LW.
They should just pin a thread with a link to all 576467 LW threads at the top here, called; So You Wanna Publish a Loving Wives story.
Getting a red H isn't that hard if you know your audience. My stories are poorly written but still, I got a lot of red H and the rest of it is pretty close which I knew before publishing it. I'm not bragging I'm just telling you that if you just give them what they want then your stories will get red H.

For example, my first LW story rating is below 3 because the audience wasn't right. Always give them a warning at first, a few imbeciles will still read but a lot will not downvote your story.
I think some of mine are deserved of the H, but none of my stories got votes close enough, so I never cared to get one. Besides, it's not how good you write, that gets it, it's how good the readers think your work is, that gets it. I'm sure there are stories on here, that the writer toiled over, toiled over like they were going for the porn version of the Newberry press award, just to get a 4.10, that's now a 3.75 after sweeps.

I did get a taste, though. I had a fanfic on here that got three of them, not even on chapters with sex in them- then... then the bad times came; as I was submitting chapter something-teen out of the 28 chapter story, it all went buh-bye. All because they were aged up characters. I flew too close to the sun. I try not to be bitter, I won't every put a fan fic here again, and I'm back on my "Fuck a Red H" shit again.

Men all have ten inch willies and enjoy fistfights

There needs to be a way of making this statement into a story title.

I think they are using swear words. Is my guess.

Yeah, I think you are right.
